My local gas station I use and where my family gets their safety checks done. One of the only spots I've seen on island and especially in town that offer full service still.(pump gas for you, check air pressure on tires, check out window wiper effectiveness, etc.) The guys are great and quick, when you pull up a really loud bell rings to notify them you've pulled and they attend to you promptly. I can see how that could annoy the hell out of someone after a long shift but they're always nice. Truthfully I've never used the service but when I pull up on my motorcycle I sometimes talk story with them as I'm pumping gas. They do safety check, auto work, and full vehicle inspection if you are trying to buy a used car and want to make sure everything checks out. We were selling my husbands car to someone on Craigslist and the buyer got the entire car inspected by a mechanic for $95. Very thorough and friendly mechanics. They also fill up your gas at the pump if you don't want to get out of your car. Old school style gas station and service has not changed. read more

If you're looking for friendly banter, or service with a smile, this place is NOT for you. I was there for ten minutes and I swear to god not one of the four workers even cracked a smile once. It was like they were engaged in some kind of unfriendliness contest. OTOH, if you're just looking for an inspection, these guys have it dialed in! Very poor customer service from the man with light hair with stars shaved into it. He had an attitude when I said hello. After the nice brunette man put my sticker on the rude guy with stars shaved in his head handed me my registration back. I said thank you. He responded 'yea'. Rudest interaction I've had in years. So I pulled in because I had a leak in my front tire. The young kid was so nice. He said it's OK lady will help will find it so I got out of the car. I had my dog with me so I was holding him and another guy came over to assist the process and he kept directing me to go sit down on this outside bench and I said no thank you I prefer to stand well he kept ordering me to go sit down and forcefully and rudely several times and I politely said I'm OK standing I prefer to stand I guess they just didn't want me looking at what they were doing which I think I had every right to but nonetheless I was waiting for the young kid To find the leak after a few minutes some other guy came over to me and told me I would have to go somewhere else because I was rude to his attendant and I just shook my head and I said I really don't understand this if anybody was rude. It was your attendant. He goes oh well, then what happened I said well you wanna know now after you asked me to leave and assume the worst, so I was getting in my car and I said well thank God for reviews and that's when it got ugly because he wasn't happy about that statement. He called me a Karen. He got all forceful with me and decided to take pictures of my car and everything like he was gonna report me for some reason I'm just a consumer trying to spend my money there and get a service that they clearly advertise for, if I want to observe, I think I have every right to. I politely said I didn't want to sit down. I prefer standing it. I guess that got under his skin because he went and told some other guy who seem to be a supervisor or manager who told me to get out of there and go down the road to somebody else called me a Karen or shitty shitty. Shitty to me talk about shitty I mean who does this kind of stuff, but I guess he was having a bad day. At least I know not to recommend that place because I really have many many times before I live down the street. Oh well that's life in Paradise. I love this location! The attendants are always so kind and well-mannered. I came in this morning because my tire air pressure light turned on. A young man helped me by filling air and made me aware that there was a slow leak. They fix these leaks for about $26 and he was able to do in 5 minutes. I am grateful to have a reliable place so close to home. Every time I come I have a pleasant experience. Wonderful staff! By far my favorite station! read more

The service here at 76 on Waialae was great! There were no appointments left for oil changes so they let me take it in and said they would work in it between other jobs but gave me a reasonable time frame to expect to hear from them. I went for a walk while they worked on it and not long after they let me know that my tires were in bad shape and needed replacing. They kept me updated with the timing and pricing so I could make a decision that worked for me and then they took the time to take care of the tires for me too. I'm glad they told me when they did and didn't wait until the oil change was done so that I'd have to reschedule for another time! I really appreciate their professionalism, honesty and friendliness! I haven't seen a Full Service gas station since the late 80s. I thought they were all done away with, yet I was surprised to find out that this 76 Station offers full service. I was waiting for C to get a safety inspection done, when I watched the gas attendant fill gas, wash windows, check tire air pressure, and check engine and component fluid levels. Being that you get all that, the gas is a bit more expensive (~$0.70/gallon), so if you don't know how to do all that other stuff then go for it. On a side story, my mom -- age 60+ -- has probably only filled gas once in her life, true story. She used to go to Full Service gas stations only, and have the attendant do it. Well those disappeared, so my dad does it for her every time. Getting back, the location is a tad awkward since it is on the corner of a busy and oddly configured intersection so I'd only recommend entering via Palolo Ave. Crossing lanes from Waialae (heading Koko Head) is challenging because of the oncoming 3 lanes of cars, plus the people behind you might think you're not moving up to do the left turn onto Palolo Ave and get in a huffy. Coming down Waialae (Ewa Bound) is awkward too because upon entering the driveway, you have to do a U-turn to angle back for the pumps. Another plus is they do auto repairs and safety checks. And there are self serve pumps too. read more

I called early in the morning to see if I needed an appointment for a safety check and was politely told that safety checks were from 0830-1530 Monday- Friday first come first served. Went to get a safety check today without an appointment and when I arrived, one of the guys came up to me with a really bad attitude and asked me what I wanted and I told him I would like a safety check..he said "uhhhhh well do you have an appointment?" Like I was an idiot for not getting one..keep in mind I went down there two days ago without needing an appointment but I didn't have the papers to get a safety check. He then asked "uhhhhh then why didn't you do it two days ago?" I then told him my reason and he told me with condescending voice to make an appointment.this guy was extremely unprofessional with such a simple request. I work in the service industry myself and no matter what level of service you're providing having at least some professionalism is a must. And to end this, I will not go back there. I've known my safety inspection was up in May for weeks but somehow still managed to procrastinate until today on getting it done. Went to the chevron at Kapahulu and Waialae, they told me they couldn't fit me in for a week. Remembering a friend had said good things about this place I drove up the road. I was advised to come back a couple hours later to avoid waiting. When I returned, they took me in right away. I talked story with the owner for 15 minutes while my car was checked out. Great man and I was in and out so quickly! And if that wasn't great enough, before I left he offered me a bunch of the bananas he had in the office (gift from another customer). Love! read more

I went to this 76 on a saturday morning, in need of a safety check. I was in the area, so i stopped by. The guy greeted us very nicely and asked us what we needed. I said i needed a safety check. He explained that usually they only take by appointment only, so he should us to the office to make an appt. He spoke to his boss and then he said they could take my car right away! I would just have to leave it for 30-45 mins. Of course, i agreed. Not even 20 mins later he called and told me my car was done! I came back, paid and was on my way. Great service!! read more

While recently driving my car on a Sunday, one of my lower Ball joints broke and the car dropped down on the tire. I called a tow truck not knowing where to take the car. the tow truck driver recommended 76 on Waialae. I I couldn't have. been more impressed with the service I received. Jim the owner is amazing. He was driving by as the tow truck was dropping my car off at his closed service station. He stopped, took my name and number, and promised to call me first thing in the morning to let me know how much it would be to fix. The very next morning I received a phone call from Jim with a very reasonable quote to fix my car and best of all, that it would be done that afternoon. Amazing.
