OK! KT auto called me after seeing what I said here. They did not argue. He just apologized saying: If you could give us 0 stars you should have we screwed up, I am sorry. We are human and made a mistake. So taking a couple days and thinking about it: When I went there I asked for them to call me before doing any fixes, they did not do this. I really wanted them to check around the whole project. I do believe that the EGR valve replacement was a good move and thei price was decent. I do think The owner is a good guy. He is gruff and honest with his experience and feeling on what he checks with ur rig. I do think I will go back and do some more in the future. I will admit during our pay up conversation when he asked "what should you pay?" was not my style. still he is honest, they did the install good, did miss the hose, but did install the valve perfect. read more

Keoki/George is not an honest mechanic. Brakes went out. He gets in the car, looks at nothing else and says we need a ABS unit that costs more than $4,000. I said "how do you know?" He says "I know what I felt, that's the ABS. You can take it wherever, but I know what I felt." He was wrong. I took it to the dealership and it was the master cylinder. The dealership cost me less than half of what keoki quoted us. STAY AWAY. This guy is either lazy or he's ready to rip people off. That wasn't even the end of their incompetence. We had a vehicle with a service reminder code of A36 and I asked what that meant. The other guy said, "oh that's just your 36th oil change. It switches between A and B, I don't know why, but all you need is an oil change." That wasn't true either. He reset the light without doing the required maintenance. I don't understand how they are giving bad information and no one has noticed. He never checked the manual which would have clearly told him what A36 meant They're either incompetent, just lazy. I don't think they're being malicious, so we give them the benefit of the doubt and just call them stupid. read more

I have been supporting KT since 2016. Back then it was first come, first serve. It since has changed to appointment only. I was put on hold for 15 minutes to make an appointment. I made an appointment and got there early so I'm waiting and noticed that people that came after me on standby were going before me. One of them seemed to be good friends with Keoki. He tells me that it's only fair that he takes the standby. Since when does standby take precedence over those that made an attempt to make an appointment. KT's is too busy to accommodate those that want to get a safety check. If you try and make an appointment it will be at least a week before you can get in. I feel that maybe my positive review helped cause this. I will no longer be getting my safety check from Keoki. For those willing to put up with wait times, good luck. read more

Stopped by near closing time w/parents. Thought we needed oil or coolant as check engine light was on. Keoki had JR run out to see exactly what the issue was. Appreciate that - along with his Keoki's sense of.humor. Turns out both oil and coolant levels were find. As it was Pau hana time they advised us to book an appointment. KT's Auto Repair is a life saver. I had to get my safety check for my truck and it really has been a hassle. I'm really horrible at remembering when to get my safety check and registration done for my cars. Anyways, this year, I thought I was really on top of things. I called the service station that I normally take it to see if they were going to be open on Christmas Eve. They said yes and that I didn't need an appointment. Perfect, I thought. See my truck doesn't have a car seat so I have to take it down to the service station and arrange for someone to watch baby. Well Christmas Eve was perfect because she still had school. So the plan was to go there after I drop her off at school but they said it was full and they weren't taking anymore people. Then I try again on New Years Eve and leave my car there. One hour after I leave it there, they call me back to say the safety check person isn't coming to work. So here's where KT's is a lifesaver. I wasn't able to come on New Years Eve because I had to go home to watch the baby, but I went on January 2nd and it was so easy. I didn't realize that it's so close to home too. I pretty much just drive up the street and it's right there. I wish I knew about this place sooner. Anyways KT's is in a little shopping center in Kalama Valley. There isn't many shops or restaurants in the place. KT's is at the end of the center. They were quick to come and service my car. He asked if I was gonna wait and I asked how long. He said 15-20 minutes. This in itself was amazing. That other place told me two hours! The safety check was so fast and I'm so glad that I came here. I came home and my husband was so surprised that I was back so quick. I told them about KT's and he's considering taking his car there also. read more

I have called at least three times to this business to see about scheduling a safety check and have never had a good response. The last time was this week. I was put on hold for 25 minutes and then the call disconnected. The owner, I believe, said he was in the middle of something and put me on hold and never came back. I didn't bother calling back. Last year he put me on hold also and never came back. The very first time, he was not very cordial but actually did the safety check after we drove there early in the morning and left the car. It took all day. I seriously don't even know why I bother to try again except that it is conveniently located. Just spent an hour driving to this shop because I had to get the safety replaced for my new car as the previous owner had lost it. According to regulations, safety inspectors are required to replace lost or stolen safety cards but the owner (or manager) argued with me and insisted I needed to have the full safety redone. I don't understand why, as the safety inspector, he didn't understand this rule. Overcharged for a starter repair that failed just a few short months later. Brought to another honest mechanic who did it again for 2/3 the price and said that the previous mechanic (KT) didn't replace part of it. Also made fun of me for a trapezoid glued on upside down. Showed up at the coffee shop I frequented while my vehicle was at his shop. Felt like a shake down. No offense sir. But you weirded me out showing up like that telling me directly that you'd be happy to do further repairs on my starter for more $$. Felt fraudulent. Probably thought I was a sucker and wanted to gauge if he could get away with overcharging for an incomplete job then charge more. I'm usually perceived as gullible. Sorry, but if you overcharge for a repair, and I find out from the next mechanic that you didn't replace all the components that would normally be swapped out during such a repair, that on it own is, at the least, incompetent. Really, go look up what you charged me to redo the starter, then consider that you didn't even swap out all the components. read more

Rather than dropping off my car in Hawaii Kai for a safety check on a 'first come, first serve' basis, I was pleasantly surprised I could set an appointment for a safety check in Hawaii Kai with KT Auto Repair in Kalama Valley. There was a little bit of a wait, but that's because they're a popular place. I thought I would try them again when I needed by brake pads replaced. Again, it was the convenience of being able to have the work done in Hawaii Kai, rather than driving into town which was a deciding factor for me. I dropped my car off on Friday morning, with the understanding that my car probably wouldn't be ready until Monday. I really didn't want to drive my any more than I had to because the brakes were making a terrible sound. Much to my surprise my car was ready for pick up by 4:30 pm on the same day and my brakes are working perfectly. Thank you Keoni for doing such a good job and doing it so quickly. Usually folks, including myself, come to YELP to complain as our only recourse to a product or service that is less than ono. So if you find a place like Kt's that plenty are stark raving happy about, you ask yourself: "Are the reviews for real?" Well, at the risk of this place becoming too popular, let me say "Keoki is honest, knowledgeable, and above all does not rip you off." Long story short: Check engine light...code...problem...problem fixed..test drive just to be sure....a bill with a mere 1/2 hour labor (plus part). Now, if I had gone to a dealer, or anywhere else, they could have billed me for hours of labor, and a list of parts, and I would not have known the difference as I am not a mechanic. And, if you have to leave your car overnight, no worries: the dogs bark if a spider climbs the wall, and would scare the crap out of even The Rock. read more

These guys were the type of guys that got bullied throughout life and now have some power to throw around and think and treat people terribly. I have seen them giving everyone in line a hard time. I don't see any kindness in the workplace anytime I'm there waiting I see them try to make people feel stupid and inferior. I had an awful experience the few times I went there and the last time I went it was too much to let slide. my opinion is this place is awful. highly don't recommend this place for anyone who wants to be treated as a respected adult and not like an ignorant child. they definitely lost my business for good and I will be warning everyone I know to stay away from that toxic place. read more

I took my car in for an oil change. Service was great and work quality was excellent. I highly recommend KT's Auto Repair.

Scheduled an appointment for an oil change and safety inspection. Brought the car in early in the morning. I did not hear back from them so came back at 4:15pm to pick up. The car will still where I had left it that morning and the mechanic said sorry it's been a busy day but he will get to the safety check in 15 minutes. I asked about the oil change and he said it was good. After waiting 15 minutes nothing had happened and I needed to leave so he asked if I could leave it overnight and pick it up the next morning. I said okay. Next morning I picked up the car but he said the oil was good so he didn't need to change. The oil hadn't been changed in almost a year. A few weeks later I opened the hood and found the oil dip stick was sticking out. I used to live in Kalama Valley and am all for supporting community but they really need to work on their customer service. read more

On 1/21/2020, my 2006 Toyota Tacoma was overheating on my way to work. After finishing work, instead of going to the numerous repair shops around the Kalihi area, I decided to get my truck towed from Kalihi back to my home in Kalama Valley. I decided to pay the money to tow my truck back to Kalama Valley because their is only one mechanic and auto shop I trust to fix all of my families vehicles, get annual safety checks, and any other automotive needs and that mechanic is Keoki from KT's auto repair. On 1/22/2020, I dropped off my truck in the morning with Keoki and his auto shop and sure enough I had issues with coolant leak and had to replace numerous parts, most noticeably my radiator. Well, Keoki is that one of a kind honest guy that charged me less than $500.00 for labor and parts and I was able to pick up my truck on the same day I dropped it off to get fixed. According to my friends this car repair would have easily cost $1000.00 to $1500.00 at any other car repair shop and I would have to leave my truck in the shop for a few days. Please trust me when I say Keoki and his crew from KT auto repair will take care of you and make you a lifetime customer! Professional and honest work which is very rare to find these days. Dont go here. I came in because my car wouldn't accelerate. It was in this mans shop for 2 weeks. Did not get a single phone call update from him. We had to go in on our own time to see what was going on. Long story short he refused to order the part needed. After two weeks of absolutely nothing he now tells us to "order it your self". Awful customer service. Id recommended a youtube video to help you out instead of seeing what this place has to offer cause in my two weeks of experience that was nothing.
