I only give one star because Yelp does not give me the option to post a review with zero stars. I've had numerous bad experiences with this car service as a customer, including the time car #83 drove me to Soho via the Brooklyn Bridge and then through the Financial District and Tribeca. That same driver explained to me, during the ride, how he was from Transylvania and he was going to run for President because he was the only one who could prevent World War Three. As a Park Slope resident, my experiences with this car service have been terrible as well. I watched a driver back into another car on my street one morning and when I stopped by to tell the manager later, he said "If it really happened, why did you wait until now?" That's the kind of attention to customer service you want. Moments ago, car #60 almost ran over me while I was in a crosswalk and I had the right of way. On top of that, he had the nerve to lay on his horn. So I'd say pretty much the shittiest car service ever. There are plenty of others to choose from in the neighborhood. read more

Great, reliable service. Use them for all my airport trips and occasional local trip. Living in park slope, there are several car service places around, but 7th ave has been very reliable. They take credit card on a phone (great as I use corporate AMEX for my business travel) and accept CC tips. Booking in advance - car always shows up on time and I get a phone-call when car is outside). Drivers are good as well - aggressive driving style common to all NYC drivers, but can slow it down when needed (took a car to hospital w a kid and they drove very safely). Drivers can converse or stay quiet - playing off customer preference. Cars are clean and in good mechanical shape. Really no complaints. And with reliability and timeliness being top concern - they deliver on expectations. read more

I've used this car service before but have never reviewed it. If I have to use this service it means I am near my aunt in Sunset Park. Today after traveling from Richmond Hill by train, me and my aunt had to come to this area to pick up stuff for a belated holiday lunch tomorrow. After that we walked here. BY that time, after traveling for a few hours, I had to use the facilities mighty quick. I asked he guy in the small office about a restroom and he directed me to the door right behind him While I was using the restroom, the car had come quickly. So I get out and the same guy who allowed me to use the restroom told me the car was outside and my aunt was waiting. 7th Avenue Car Service is great if you live in the Park Slope Area. They have a few things that distinguish themselves: -They operate on a zone system, based in the slope, where cars are expected to pick people up, take them somewhere, and then return to the zone, where they check back in. Most other services just call out locations for pickups and whatever car is nearest to you responds. That means that if you're near their dispatch, they are dramatically more likely to have a car near you. -Their cars respond to street hails less frequently. What that means for you is that you're less likely to have the cab you called intercepted by somebody hailing it from the street. That's often the cause of long wait times. -They genuinely try to estimate how long it will take to pick you up. Aricebo, Elegante, and a bunch of their competitors in the area will just say "5 minutes" and then hang up, and their cab will be there in 5-40 minutes. If the dispatcher at 7th Avenue says 5 minutes, it'll probably be 5-10 minutes, and if it's more, he says so. -Their dispatch is in English, and that means most of their drivers speak pretty good English. Not that there's anything wrong with not speaking English, unless you actually want to get where you're going. They're not perfect, sometimes they flake, but they're the best the Slope has. read more

I take no pleasure in wishing I could give zero stars to a local business but these guys are exhibit A as to why uber's accountability and quality is far superior to shops like this. My 65 year old mother in law was watching our 3 year old while I was with my wife after she delivered our second at Methodist. I called 7th Ave car Svc for my mother in law who knows nothing about the neighborhood. I asked if they had toddler car seats, they said yes but when they got to her the guy apparently had no idea how to install it. They ended up driving without the car seat after the driver got annoyed that she didn't know how to do it either. Now in fairness I understand the passenger bears some responsibility for the car seat when a car service provides one. But personally I feel that falls in the category of checking it is connected after they install it - that is what uber family does. A good solution is not to pressure the passenger to have a kid ride without the seat. When I called them to complain about this, the dispatcher assumed it was me in the car with my daughter and without hearing the full story said "well you should know how to attach it too" and hung up on me. So bottom line is they don't care enough to do the basics to keep kids safe in their cars, and they will be rude to you if you try to press them on an issue you have with them. Go uber! read more

The cars are a death-trap. The dispatcher is rude and NOT helpful at all... The drivers are really just stupid. I've used the service a few times, and have never had a good experience. Last time I used them, I notified the driver that I was in a hurry, and he took his sweet time before leaving, and then went straight down Flatbush. Any idiot knows not to take the main drag when rushed. Instead of listening to 1010 or perhaps ANY local station that might tell you the bridge reports, he left it on some spanish station that was just absolutely crude. (probably thinking I didn't understand a word) Well. Thanks to that, he made the asinine decision of taking the lower level on the Manhattan bridge, which was stop and go the WHOLE way, instead of taking the upper level, which was clear sailing. After two bad experiences, I deleted their number. 1) Catching a ride to BAM. "Where's that?" "Um, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, right off Flatbush. I'm not sure what the street name is, but you can't miss it." "I need street names. Landmarks, something, where is it?" "BAM. Brooklyn Academy of Music. Big red spinning letters." "Never seen it." "You know the McDonalds on Flatbush?" "Oh, by the social security office? Remember that. I'm just giving you landmarks so you know in the future." So that was annoying, but forgivable. This one wasn't: 2) Dispatcher said 5 minutes. Fifteen minutes later, I called him back. He said the guy was on his way. Ten minutes later, after calling again, the dispatcher said, "Yeah, my guy got stuck behind a garbage truck." I told him, "I'm late for work, you said 5 minutes half an hour ago," and he got really defensive. "Yeah, I want to get you picked up too, all right" as if I was the jackass when he didn't send another car. I will never use this car service again. read more

It might be going a little overboard to say that they are the worst car service in Brooklyn, but not by much. The cars I rode in was old, cramped and dirty and they tried to overcharge me by 20-25%. Even though I was going to Williamsburg, the driver insisted that it was really greenpoint. Eventually, I just got out and called another car service. Problem solved. read more

They charged me $14 for what is usually an $8 ride and the driver kept making passes at me. He was harmless, but I don't recommend being overcharged for a creepy ride. Too many car services in this neighborhood to put up with one that's overpriced. read more

Just got into a car outside Methodist with a dislocated knee (in a brace and crutches). The driver picked me up and after getting a call on the radio then said he had to mak a quick stop, brought me to the office on 7th ave and asked me to get out because he had someone else to pick up instead. This is nowhere near my destination - he literally drove me 2 blocks from the hospital. Took me many painful minutes entering and exiting the cab, only to call an Uber. 7th Avenue is our go-to shuttle service. They are reliable and friendly. Their fares are usually less than a taxi or Uber. Some drivers are better than others, but I happily recommend these guys for anyone in our neck of the woods (Park Slope) and beyond. read more

I've taken this car service back from my friend's apartment to my own on several late, cold nights where I didn't feel like walking down several blocks to wait for the bus. I've had good experiences with them; they've always been accurate in their estimates for how long it will take the car to get there. Their drivers are friendly enough. I did get one car that smelled of stale cigarettes, and the radio was tuned to the song of someone who was confused about the location of his "bitches", but that was my worst experience. So, not that bad. In sum, reliable, pretty good service, cars that don't seem sketchy, and the rates are very reasonable as well. read more

I recently broke my ankle and have suddenly had to use this car service a lot. Their flat rates are cheaper than a yellow cab or any of the car services based in Manhattan. For this reason I've been calling them to take me to and from work. Coming from Brooklyn into Manhattan, they are great and I give them 5 stars for their service. From Manhattan back to Brooklyn I give them 1 star. I missed a doctors appointment because the dispacher kept lying to me and telling me they were "around the corner" when they really weren't even close. read more

Lousy service with little regard for safety. Please note that I called to voice my complaint within a half hour after the ride ended. Customer service did not seem very interested. The driver was on time. He pulled up across the street from my apartment building. By cell phone we spotted each other. He waited as I carefully stepped over the deepest part of the water collecting on my side of the street and gingerly walked across the 2 traffic lanes and between parked cars. It was raining. I half carried a roller bag and wore a backpack. The ride was to JFK. Arriving at the car he failed to open the truck or my door. He did reach over from the driver's seat to unlock the passenger door leaving it a bit ajar. For the first 10 minutes of the trip he drove while reading from a secured iPad like device. For the remainder of the drive he was speaking on the phone. Later while weaving through traffic in Harlem he clearly ran a red light. Of course he tailgated the entire trip. Five minutes from JFK he asked me about my flight time and explained to me that I had plenty of time since I had 1 1/2 hours before boarding. That was my plan. It clearly had no bearing on the quality of his driving. That bit of conversation was the first thing he said to me during the hour drive. As we arrived he asked whether I'd be paying by cash or credit card. After I replied cash, he said I owed $75. I took issue since I was quoted a price of $56. With the toll the fare was ~$62. He pulled out an iPad like device to show $75 and said it was including tolls. I called his nonsense. I regret giving him ~ $3 tip, owing to the fact that I didn't have exact change. I told him that if he wanted a good tip he needed to provide good service. I had ordered a non-luxury car. That certainly was what arrived. It was an older Camry type vehicle in decent shape, although not quite nice enough to be a Lyft or Uber or taxi. Between my husband and me, we take a minimum of 4 trips a month. Taking 6 rides with your service was one too many. Try quality control. I wonder if my gray hair or travel jeans gave rise to lousy service. Teresa M read more

I've used 7th Ave about six times now and they always show up exactly when requested (or a minute or two early) and get me where I'm going (an airport, or home from), fast. Seems they know the back roads too, in case there's too much traffic one way. At the airport, if I've scheduled them prior to landing, they are there, just call them and let them know you've landed, and they meet you at the baggage claim door in a couple of minutes. (The driver is usually waiting in a parking lot nearby.) Friendly too. read more

Called for a car at 10:30 am to be at my home at 11:00am. The car service is only a few blocks away. At 11:00am, we went downstairs and got into the car that was waiting. It was NOT 7th avenue car service and we didn't know. They took us to our destination and the price was cheaper. Don't know how this all happened. About 15 minutes later, I got a call from 7th Avenue car service telling me that my car was waiting for me downstairs. What a joke! They were not only 15 minutes late, but the dispatcher was rude and nasty and hung up on me. He's a total loser and was pissed that lost the business. He snoozed, he lost. I would never again call this car service. They haven't changed in the 20 years that I've used car services in the area. Others are prompt and much more courteous. The worst thing about a car service is when they lie to you about how long it will take for the car to get here. This place told me 3 minutes. 5 minutes later the car was still not here, then I call again to be informed that the car will be here in another 5 minutes. 10 minutes go by and still no car. Called back just to find out that the car made another stop for whatever reason and the dispatcher very unpleasantly asked me whether he should dispatch another car. The service was cheap and the driver was timely, so I have no qualms there. However, I ordered a ride home from the airport after a red-eye flight, and I was regaled at 5 am (against my will) with extremely intimate stories about my driver's life - stories about his family, spousal abuse, and so forth. The driver then proceeded to share his views on members of the US military, which were unflattering, out of line, and completely uncalled for. This car service needs to retrain its fleet on how to behave when driving customers - drivers should be instructed not to share intimate family stories with customers who would rather not hear them. Further, maligning veterans is inappropriate under any circumstance. Highly unprofessional. read more

Nothing good about this company. They were 10 minutes late after the man confirmed the correct time just before we got off the phone. When we arrived at the airport, the driver told me to call the dispatcher to pay with a credit card...which was fine, even though most of the time they do that for you. I called the dispatcher and he asked for my credit card info and then hung up on me. I called back because he didn't tell me how much I would be charged. He said, "I said thank you."...which he did not. I asked how much I was being charged and he yelled at me over and over again that he had everything he needed. I said I didn't and wanted to know how much my cc would be charged. After yelling at me again he asked me, 'how much is the charge?", I asked him how much he charged me before hanging up...I told him the fair and he yelled at me once again. I was furious with the service. Then the driver called him to ask him how much to charge me and he yelled at the driver to have me get out of the car, he had everything he needed.I felt bad for the driver. I will never again use this car service. I only did because I got a coupon, but I had a feeling it wasn't going to be as good as who I usually use; Arecibo in Park Slope. read more

As an experienced user of a car service, I asked for the car to arrive at 2.30pm expecting it to arrive at 3pm. It arrived at 2.33pm! The driver knew where we were going and did not chitchat during the ride. He drove smoothly and steadily, didn't swing from lane to lane, kept a fine distance between us and the car ahead. Fare was below what I expected for a ride from Brooklyn Heights to the Grand Hyatt. They're terrific and definitely my go-to. read more

Last night we used 7th Ave to pick us up at JFK at 1am after a delayed flight from Florida. We were exhausted and eager to get home but it took our driver ONE HOUR to drive us to Fort Greene -- middle of the night, no traffic -- a ride that should have taken 35 minutes max. She took the longest possible route (I looked at my Google map after about a half-hour had elapsed to see where in Brooklyn we might possibly be), and drove so slowly that we seemed to catch every red light. To make matters worse she talked the entire way about her personal woes, loads of information that we were in no mood to hear. We used 7th Ave because our usual car service had no drivers available, but we won't be calling them ever again. read more

The cars are a little beat up. The drivers are a collection of characters who are more than happy to share strange life stories and weird personal philosophies. But I continue to make them my first call when I need a car because they are always on time when I arrange a pick up. If I need a car that instant, the dispatcher will truthfully let me know how long I can expect to wait. And the prices are very reasonable to boot. read more

We took the 7th Ave Car Service from Park Slope to JFK. 5 stars for the car & driver showing up on time. 2 stars for the driver who greeted us nicely, but was wearing lounge pants & worn out slippers. 1 star for his driving - he came within inches of getting us into a wreck & drove like a taxi cab driver in a hurry for his next fare. 1 star for for the car as it was old but more importantly it wasn't clean, smelled of cigarette smoke, & had worn out rear shock absorbers. The dispatch radio was on for the entire 45 minute ride with static & a few warnings about looking out for cops in some areas. This wild toad ride cost us $38 + a nominal tip due to poor driving. It was worth more like $28. Overall, very unprofessional, but we were picked up on time & arrived alive & on-time. Next time, we'll take the subway. read more

Great, convenient car service for those who live in Park Slope. My wife, our dog, and I went to stay at a friend's apartment near Union Square and were taken there for $24, with no hassle about the large, drooling Golden Retriever we put in the backseat. They then came and picked us up 2 days later and returned us home, again for only $24. While the cars aren't the highest quality, as some others have mentioned, the driver has always been friendly and talkative with us. With them having no issues about the dog, always showing up on time, and being willing to come pick us up from where they dropped us off, we will be using this service whenever we have our dog with us. read more
