Acupuncture is fab-u-lous! Yep. I'm wimpy and hate needles. But no itchy itch afterwards. Acupuncture needles are not pointy or hollow and are about as thin as a strand of hair. See, mosquito sized. And you're a Wisconsinite, gosh darn it you are well experienced with mosquitoes! So no need to be worried about needles. If I can do it anyone can, just ask my accupuncture practitioner. Milwaukee Community Acupuncture operates on a pay what you can fee structure, with a fee scale ranging from $15-40 a treatment. They also have punch cards. Dude. Dude, I love punch cards. Pay for 10 treatments and get 11 sessions. Yep. There is complementary Rishi tea. Yep. The setting itself is incredibly relaxing. Soft music, white noise machines, plants. No exam tables, but recliners and blankets. Even little eye mask pillow thingies. Acupuncture here is done in one large space. You'll stay clothed. Take your shoes and socks off, roll your pants up a few inches and have your arms accessable. No peep shows going on here. They just put all these needles in me, now what? You'll get really relaxed. Some people fall asleep. Your worries become lighter and distant. You'll get to rest for around 40-60 minutes. I suggest that you come in for accupuncture when you're not pressed for time as you'll get much more relaxed. They offer easy online scheduling and have appointments seven days a week and evening appointments during the weekdays. Maybe you're having a bad day like I did today, then you can just hop online and schedule a same day appointment which are often easily available. Acupuncture etiquette: Speak softly throughout the space so as to allow for a restful environment. Refrain from wearing strong smelling perfumes etc so as to allow for a restful environment. Milwaukee Community Acupuncture also has many other health services onsite including yoga, massage, reiki, chiropractic, cupping, and more. Many of these services are also on a sliding fee scale. Affordable yoga! I love Milwaukee Community Acupuncture.

When I walked into the building I noticed a sign that directed you to take off your shoes and leave them downstairs by the front door. I took my shoes off but carried them up with me as I preferred to just keep them in my room as opposed to downstairs. If it was the wintertime I would have likely kept my shoes downstairs. It wasn't an issue. The entire space is clean and quiet. I was greeted by Sasha and directed to the room I would be in when I walked upstairs. We chatted a bit about how the session would go. I appreciate how Sasha took the time to review my intake form in advance. Thank you! Shortly into the massage Sasha asked how the pressure was but other than that I was treated to a very relaxing environment without any chatter. There was some classical music playing and I was asked if I wanted to add a scent to the oil - I chose eucalyptus. It was apparent that Sasha paid attention to areas that needed more work or were tighter than other spots. This wasn't a one-size fits all massage which is exactly I had hoped for. I was able to fully relax and felt less tense after. The foot scrub was at the end of the massage and it was a nice way to bring me back to reality before the end of the session. I especially enjoyed the hotel towel wraps. Overall I was very happy with my massage and glad that I tried out a new place. I plan to be a repeat customer!

It has taken me a while to find a new massage therapist but I am so glad I stumbled across Sasha…read more She is responsive, talented, and most importantly in the COVID era - concerned with safety. She masks the whole time and has you mask when on your back. Her massages include hot stone if you like and aromatherapy at no additional charge (as of this review). Her space is small but cozy and soothing - I prefer places that are a bit smaller and hers fits the bill perfectly. She has amazing rates and discounts if you book a package. The online booking system is so easy to use! Parking in front of her building is also easy and free. In short, Sasha is a wonderful masseuse who takes health and safety seriously - cannot recommend her enough!

Up until recently, I was a total acupuncture newbie. But I can say now after visiting this place,…read moreI'm a fan! I've always been a fan of ancient medicine as way of healing so I was eager to try. Off the bat, the studio is welcoming as you enter. There is an overall warmth and calming aroma, and you can really feel the soothing energy. Working with Anne has been great. She comes off as very gentle, understanding, and of course, knowledgeable. She made my first time very comfortable. We talked through what issues I need work on and she thoroughly explained the hows and whys of treatment. I laid back in one of their comfortable reclining chairs and prepared to be poked! All jokes aside, you can hardly feel the needles being put in. With my goals to work on digestive and skin issues, needles were places in my legs, arms, and face as way of focusing in on that treatment. I'm still fascinated on how it all works! Don't get me wrong, you feel a bit paralyzed at first, as you're really not supposed to move around much. Once you get relaxed however, it's complete zen. The wave sounds and low-key music made for a perfect meditative zone. My first experience was about thirty minutes long, but you never feel rushed to leave. As Anne let me know, if you are in a great deep state and wish to stay longer, you can feel free to do so. Milwaukee Urban Acupuncture also offers other treatments such as dry needling, cupping, massage therapy and reiki. Something for everyone looking to heal in any way! I recommend you give this place a go.

I loved that I could book the appointment online, it's just so much more convenient for my work schedule to pop into a website between meetings and find a time that works for my calendar. Having the prices available on the site was also appreciated. The location was easy to find and I snagged parking right across the street, another bonus. Anne was very nice and thorough in both her forms and questions. As I wasn't actively experiencing any neck pain at the time of the appointment and never having had this treatment before, she recommended a general procedure that should also help with my lack of sleep. Her calm demeanor definitely put me at ease! I do wish the office area wasn't so cluttered with papers and random bags, it made me a tad skeptical of the firm's organizational skills and attention to detail, truth be told. While I am not afraid of needles, having sharp objects inserted into my body isn't high on my list of definitions of a good time, but the procedure was essentially painless and I was able to relax a bit while in the chair. Which brings me to my other quibble here: I was cold sitting in the chair with my pants rolled up to my knees and my shirt up to my elbows. Anne did bring me a blanket which helped a little, but not totally. She suggested I sit closer to a heater next time. While not untrue, it also wasn't particularly helpful. I think a better solution would be more heaters. All in all, I did sleep better that night and would definitely give it a try here again--but only if I can score a heater seat!
