St. Paul Fish Market is located inside the very busy and popular Milwaukee Public Market indoor shopping complex downtown. It reminds me of the Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle. The only parking option that I am aware of is metered street parking. The building has 2 levels but the 1st floor is where most of the business are. It appeared to me that St. Paul's is the most popular business there. It is a seafood restaurant and fresh fish market. They have a small sit down area for table service dining or you can order your food to go at the counter. After being seated and reviewing the menu I decided to order the same meal I had over 11 years ago. I went with a bowl of clam chowder for $8 to start and then added a fried grouper sandwich ($16) with french fries for another $2.50. The chowder was perfect. Flavorful, delicious and I wanted more (5). The sandwich also was delicious and satisfying made with quality fish, lettuce, tomato, and bread. However while it tasted very good halfway through eating it the bread bun started to disintegrate and then quickly turned to mush before I could finish. Then I needed a fork to finish it. It got messy and I don't like that in a sandwich. It's only for that reason I give an overall 4 score instead of a 5. The french fries were very good tasting too but I had ordered too much food and only had room for a few of them. The table service was very warm and friendly. I believe St. Paul's is a very good choice for a casual seafood meal but please buy more sturdy buns!

We ordered a 12 pack of doughnut and were able to pick 4 flavors. The s'mores ones were amazing! We also really liked the puppy chow. While ordering, one niece picked out Bart's birthday cake and I said something to her like oh you picked those because we are celebrating your birthday. I didn't think much of it but after our doughnuts were delivered, staff asked her if she wanted powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar doughnuts to go for her birthday. She loved getting to leave with an extra treat. We had fun playing pinball while we waited and one of my nieces commented on how she really liked the vibe of the place. The selection of donuts looked delicious so I placed an order for a six-pack of donuts. Got to pick out three different flavors. Wait time was a ridiculous but i gave them a break due to the high traffic from the event going on outside. When I finally got my order I had to laugh. These donuts were the size of donut holes. One bite donuts? No exaggeration, I paid a premium price for full size donuts and I all I got were bite size dough balls. I was mad as a Danzig at a Bulletboys concert. Don't waste your time with this place. Happy Dough Lucky is just happy to take your dough. No luck involved.

When we arrived for our 4:30p reservation, there was a line of half a dozen people hoping to get a seat at one of the bars first come, first serve. One is the alcohol bar and one is a sushi bar. Our server was amazing. She had great recommendations and made sure what we ordered was spaced out nicely as the tables are small and some of the dishes take up a good amount of space. We ordered bottles of mineral water. We don't really drink so this made the meal feel even more upscale and it went so well to cleanse the palate between courses. The food was phenomenal. There wasn't a dish we didn't love but extra about out for the hamachi kama yaki - grilled yellowtail collar. It was bigger and meatier than I expected. Delicious. The sushi here is amazing. I'm half Japanese. When I go to sushi places not near a coast, I usually don't get much raw aside from scallops and spicy tuna or salmon rolls. These hand rolls were absolutely fantastic. The seaweed wrappers had covers on them to slide off just before taking a bite so the wrappers stayed crispy. I would go back here just to order various hand rolls. The pad Thai was the best I've had. The noodles were perfectly cooked and smooth in my mouth with the light yet creamy sauce. I could only take a couple bites as we ordered more than we expected we could eat haha. I cannot wait to go back to Milwaukee to go back.

The reason I speak to the number of adults is because they were a bit inappropriate: they were very loud and I felt so bad because I have no doubt the group I was with disrupted the experience of other diners. I'm not a prude but even I was slightly embarrassed at times (I didn't know the group well and didn't anticipate the noise/volume). ANYWAY, I bring all that up because our server tolerated us and I was very grateful for him. Aside from being kind, he was very knowledgeable about trying/pairing items and making suggestions for us. The drinks were beautiful and the food was bright--fresh and flavorful. Bathrooms were spotless. I am looking forward to coming back on my own ;)

I do hope that their pistachio pasta and veal dish don't go away. For starters, I ordered the Seasonal Bruschetta, which had citrusy notes from the diced tomatoes and pickles with mortadella. For the main course, I ordered the Giovanni's Original Veal Parmesan with fettuccine alfredo. This dish is prepared in the style of Parmesan or Corletta served with your choice of pasta. The veal parmesan was nice and crispy. But the most memorable dish of the night was their Fusilloni al Pistachio. The creamy pistachio pesto, Guanciale, and Brontë pistacho panna crudo brought this dish together so well! I loved the sauce so much that I ended up pouring the sauce all over the fettuccini alfredo. Staff was very attentive and friendly--striking the perfect balance between being available when needed and allowing me to enjoy my meal at my own pace. I ended the night with a classic cheesecake, which was the perfect way to end the night.

The sauce was delicious! The Chicken Parmesan was also really good with almost three pieces of chicken, lots of meat.

The staff is always very nice and if they are busy for some reason, they even have kiosks to order from as well. I'm Korean and love me some Korean fried chicken wings, but going here means I do not have to make them, make a mess in my kitchen, or have to spend time prepping everything beforehand. Yes, I know these are Karaage but they are very similar. I usually get the boneless wings just because I am weird and do not like having sticky fingers when I am eating, so these I can eat with a fork. The crispiness is always spot-on and I love that they give you just enough sauce to give everything a good coat and flavor but not too much that the chicken is drowning. I also really love the rice cakes that they add into the tenders and wings, it's like a nice little chewy treat to go with everything. Their fries are a LOT of fries! My wife and I have learned we can share one order of them. They have a bunch of varieties of seasonings you can add to the fries but I tend to get mine plain and just eat it with ketchup. It'll turn you into a cheese connoisseur if you're not already one. I fell in love with Gouda cheese as soon as I took a bite. We tried a classic cheese flight board and red wine only flight to pair with the different types of cheese. They made it into a gluten free spread so we had four types of cheese in lieu of the seasoned dried meat and gluten free crackers. The place is inviting, has nice decorations, great for going on a date or a casual catch up with your bestie. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They knew so much about wine and cheese, I would want a whole Documentary on cheese. You can also purchase cheese and other goodies to go! Come on Thursdays, they have a discount on cheese boards!

Date of visit: March 28, 2026…read more This was our second stop on a birthday date night and was a lovely little find! While the menu is limited and not cheap, staff were very friendly and walked us through everything before we selected a couple of things to try. Pretty much all of the cheeses and accoutrements were fantastic! One of the cheese on our plate was the espresso version of Bellavitano, which happens to be one of my favorites, so that was a nice little bonus for me. In addition to the board, we also went with the ricotta bites, which featured one sweet and one savory option, both of which we also really liked. The shop is cozy and if this was somewhere that I lived walking distance from, I could totally see myself coming here fairly regularly and having a little cheese and ambiance. During our time there we saw both couples on dates and old friends gathering for a drink and a nosh, all of which I found just wonderful. Really the only thing keeping this from a five star review was that the side items, such as the crackers were not plentiful enough for the cheese. I know that ratio can be hard to nail but it was not quite on the mark here, unfortunately. However, that would not be enough to prevent me from returning!
