The owner and staff are friendly and inviting. Located on Beretania Street across from the Times mall, there is a small parking lot next to the bar and street parking. Inside is spacious with booths, a bar, pool table and dart board. I recommend getting their Crispy Gau Gee, which they can also make spicy and it packs a punch for those who are spice lovers. I have been to 8 Fat Fat 8 long ago and when everyone said we were going there, I was amazed that it was still going. Well, not only it is still going, it's going strong. I was hesitant to go because of parking, but I lucked out and there was a parking right next to the bar. What can I say about this place? Enthusiastic owner, cool stuff on the menu like 1 pound of bacon. Most food was Chinese dishes - well the ones we had. All of them tasty and slightly salty - which made the food even more tasty when you are drinking. This time I wasn't drinking so I could taste the saltiness, but everyone really liked the dishes. Chicken gizzard, ginger chicken noodles, pork slices, deep fried pork, cake noodles, the dishes kept coming to the table. (Note: I should point out that the saltiness was PERFECT for drinking!) Looks may be deceiving...this place is a lot greater than it seems from the outside. It's a perfect dive bar with karaoke, delicious food, and great drinks. I had a non-inebriated friend and she agrees that the service sucked, so I don't want anyone to think we were too intoxicated and didn't know what we were talking about/ experienced this night. while the rest of us were partaking in drinks, we all agreed unanimously that the service was just not hospitable in general. Must be nice for other people experiencing this place as positive, it just wasn't the case for us. "Most of your large party were drinkers so we required everyone to have IDs." - it was only myself that ordered ONE shot, my friend ordered a soda/ food, and the 3rd person without the ID came in afterwards. So how did your waitress determine that our large party were drinkers before they even showed up? If you think about it, he could have just stayed and ate with us, and leave afterwards when your staff can finally prove that the rest of the group were largely drinkers. But no, he was told to exit and couldn't even enjoy some dinner. The sun was still up/ he wasted his uber money going there too. As for the soda gun going down that day, I understand that is out of your control (I've worked in food/ hospitality so I get it), but let us know what is available then, instead of my friend spouting out options you don't have while she was ordering. We discovered this hidden gem during our vacation. It's a cozy dive bar with a restaurant sitting area. We instantly connected with the friendly locals and ended up having the best time of our lives. The food was absolutely fantastic! You must try their freshly made dumplings--they were packed with flavorful meat ,one of the best I've ever had. My husband teased me for ordering the fried chicken skins . On Sundays, they serve enough food to feed you until you can't eat anymore. We probably gained about 10 pounds in that one visit . Such great customer service! My coworkers and I decided to meet up after work for a few pupus and drinks. Parking is on the side of the building, but it can get packed pretty fast. There's also street parking. Once entering, we were seated right away with one of my coworker already shown to our table waiting with a drink. Drinks came out fast and our food came out pretty fast al well after ordering even when the place was kind of busy. We ordered a few gau gees, fried pork chops, fried chicken, edamame and fried rice. All the food was flavorful and really good. My favorite was surprisingly the friend chicken. It looked dry to me so I was hesitant to try it, but when I did, it was actually very moist and the skin was still crisp to perfections. The gau gee was very plump and filled with their filling and the sauce that came with it was good too. Definitely would go here again with a bunch of my friends. I was excited to celebrate my birthday at a place I use to frequent but haven't been able to go to since right after Covid. Upon entering, the energy was different, with extra attitude that wasn't even called for. Brushed it off as a fluke, but throughout the night I realized it wasn't. Nonetheless, my friends were kind enough to try and make the most of the short evening/time we had. We didn't expect friendly smiles but definitely didn't deserve a sour frown. Each time the waitress came to the table, she was either in a bad mood that day or just hates her job, which is hardly what you'd like to be around after a long week of work. They need to hire someone that appreciates what makes a good Sportsbar or train her in customer service. Food definitely not the same either. Take your hard earned kālā elsewhere.
