I genuinely cannot understand how management managed to suck every ounce of excitement out of the World Cup Final. We were towards the front of the line, we waited in line for over an hour, paid a cover charge, and then weren't even allowed inside until about 10 minutes before kickoff. After finally getting seated, we couldn't even order food for another hour. The biggest offense? The sound. It was essentially nonexistent... maybe a 1/10. We literally paid a cover charge to watch the biggest sporting event in the world in near silence. We couldn't hear the match, the commentary, the crowd, or even Shakira's halftime performance. You could hear a pin drop. There was no energy, no atmosphere, no excitement. For a World Cup Final, that's completely inexcusable. When multiple people voiced concerns, the manager couldn't have seemed less interested. The vibe in the room was painfully flat, and management appeared completely indifferent. We were told the owners didn't want to turn the volume up because a speaker had blown the previous week. If that's true, then don't charge people a cover for a premium viewing experience you can't deliver. That's on ownership, not the customers. The only reason this review isn't one star is because of the staff who were actually trying. Riley, the hostess, was absolutely wonderful: friendly, organized, and professional despite the chaos. Adam (the bartender with the cherry tattoos) was also incredibly kind and made the experience far better than management deserved. The front-line staff deserve praise. The manager and owners deserve to take a hard look at what they're offering. Charging people a cover to watch the World Cup Final while making them wait over an hour to get in, delaying food service for another hour, and then failing to provide even a basic viewing experience is simply unacceptable. We left feeling like management cared more about collecting cover charges than delivering the experience people paid for. read more

Honestly, it's a tough sell when a place charges cover just to hang out inside. Especially when the view isn't doing anything particularly special to justify it. The food lands somewhere in the average range, which isn't offensive but also isn't a reason to make the trip. The beer list is actually pretty solid and probably the strongest thing going for it here. But when you factor in paying to get in the door for a space that isn't wowing you on any front, it's hard to make a case for coming back. There are plenty of spots where you can enjoy a good beer selection without the entry fee attached to it. Skybox isn't bad so much as it just doesn't add up to a worthwhile visit when you weigh everything together. read more

We went here twice during our week in Honolulu. First night was on a Monday and we came earlier maybe around 7pm. Had the nachos which was good! And a few drinks. Then we noticed a guy comes out and they do karaoke every night at 9pm. So that was quite entertaining. The bartenders on this night was young and fun. We had a great time. We came back again on Wednesday or Thursday night before we flew back to California. The bartender was okay, but not as fun. The crowd seemed to be a little less lively than when we were there on Monday. We got a burger this time and it was pretty good. Karaoke guy was there and he definitely knows how to have a good time. We were staying nearby and wanted to grab a quick dinner, so we popped in. The host is in the mall and walks you quite a way to reach the main bar and restaurant. There are also a few other seating areas along the way which I'm sure are full when they're busy. Our server was pleasant and efficient. We got in our drink orders and they came quickly and we ordered our dinner. The food came out in about 10-15 minutes. I got the Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla. It had a good Buffalo sauce taste and came with sour cream, Guac, and fresh Pico de gallo. It was very good. My wife got the Chicken Bacon Wrap. It had thick, tasty bacon and nicely flavored chicken. Starting off, this place is super cool. It has a sporty/ hang out feel to it and there are a lot of cool designs to the restaurant. We came on a college game day for a watch party so it was super busy and packed. The service was as good as you can expect when they are packed from even before they officially open. I genuinely felt bad because the poor server was a little overwhelmed. My only qualm with this spot is the price. Every item on the menu was $15-25 dollars per item. For the three in our party, it was $250 which I would say was pretty expensive for the quality of the food. It was pretty generic mid-level flavor profile. The atmosphere in here is such a vibe! From the art on the walls to the fun outdoor patio with games, to the hallway filled with arcade machines -- this place is seriously aesthetically pleasing and has such a lively, playful energy. It's definitely one of those places where the ambiance steals the show. The menu is pretty generic, nothing too unique or standout. We tried the Kalua pork sliders and they were good, but nothing to call home about. The cocktail menu has plenty of variety, but not many familiar or signature options for the average bar-goer. Service was average -- not bad by any means, just nothing particularly memorable or standout. Until Lauren came on shift and the service was amazing, she was a kind and phenomenal bartender! Overall, Skybox Taphouse is a great hangout spot if you're looking for a fun vibe, great visuals, and a cool place to play and relax. One of the more overpriced, awful food experiences we had on vacation. This burger cost $23. They couldn't even be bothered to fill up the tiny basket with fries. They also charge $13 for a tiny cup of Kraft Mac and cheese for kids. Everything tasted like it came directly out of a freezer. It only gets two stars because it's a good location and has lots of TVs, but it's not surprising the place is nowhere near full on a Saturday night. You have so many options in Waikiki. Went to happy hour on a Wednesday night to see what they're all about and if there's a buzz to be had, Unfortunately, no buzz and mostly disappointment. Seen her in the server station chomping on food a couple of times. There were only two servers on the floor so maybe she's was busier the usual to check on us. Regarding Food, both items we got were sadly disappointing. Buffalo chix wings tasted like spicy ketchup and the fiesta fries looked like a pile of fries with tuna fish plopped on top. It was pork. Guess three slices of jalapeños and a little Pico de Gallo makes it fun (fiesta)? A casual ambiance and a bunch of tvs helped make it a sports bar. Never saw or got the sense it was an Italian twist, which what it was said to be. We came once to check it out and that was enough for us. If you don't screenshot your reservation, there's no way they can accommodate you... I get it's a small place, popular...but remove the "Save a Table" on your website! My son cried! Very overpriced! I had a basket of fried pickles and two beers. The service was not good either. I had to ask for some napkins, some silverware, and had to try to get the bartenders attention just to try to get another beer. She seemed very distracted with her phone and other customers. Was looking for a place to watch the game and eat and found this place close to our hotel. We caught this place during one of the busier times during late lunch but still found a nice table with a view of the tvs to watch the game with our team. The inside is really nicely decorated, and nice and breezy with the huge open windows. We got a couple drinks and food while watching the game and everything was good, honestly no complaints. Service was okay, they got really busy about the time we were trying to leave so it was kinda hard to find someone to close our check but it was no big deal really. Will come back ! read more

We went for a bite to eat after watching Japanese fireworks in Waikiki. We both ordered kiddie menu. My pizza was too burnt so I had to ask for a new piece. My friend liked the burger. Karaoke starts at 9 pm. No charge per song. Seems like a lot of regulars so get your name on the list as soon as possible. They have validated parking and kamaaina discount if one asks. The manager was reluctant to redo the pizza slice I ordered. He explained the pizza is not cooked on a pizza stone but a hot oven with flames. I think if one moves the pizza a bit there will be less chance of burning the bottom. I've seen pizzas moved a bit at Pieology and CPK. The waitress was nice but disappeared so I had to inform the bartender about the burnt slice I received. We received Rice Krispy Treat for the last part of our meal. The fries were tasty. The windows were brought down to diminish the outside noise and help us hear the songs better. I was told there maybe some coupons in the magazines in the stands on the sidewalk but I did not check. So when we first walked in, this place gave us the "save our restaurant vibe." Like it is a well themed sports bar but it just seems to be struggling. Maybe it was cause it was empty...but it filled up quickly. My table was not clean, I cleaned it myself We started with drinks: the mai tai and the guava blue...the mai tai was ok but the guava was soo sweet , not my vibe. Food came out.. Great time and good presentation. Kids meals were cool, my daughter didn't like her burger (but ate the buns‍) but my son had the burger and left no crumbs...lol...my other son had the chicken tenders, he at them down. I had the smash burger...it was ok. A bit heavy for me so I literally only ate one patty..the burger looks like no one touched it. My husband had the worst experience: He ordered the nachos and thought that the cheese tasted like throw up. She exchanged for Fish tacos and those were better.
