I found so many things that looked great on the menu, to include fried gizzards, boneless Kal Bi ribs, fully loaded fried rice, Mac salad and other stuff I can't recall! So the TWO of us ordered way too much! We tried to eat as much as we could and ended up taking the rest home! Everything we ordered was delicious, so we knew we were going to eat good leftovers! The restaurant was a great place to go with a group to eat and watch sports! If you're visiting Hawaii with a big group, 100% recommend taking them here. We initially were a party of 16, and showed up without a reservation at 6pm on a Saturday. The staff was super nice about it and was able to accommodate us, with only a small request that we be out by 8pm since there was another big party with a reservation coming in. Absolutely reasonable. They sat us right away at three large tables, which gave us plenty of space for food and didn't force us to sit super close together. Menus, waters, plates, napkins, and forks were all brought out immediately, and our waiter was quick to take our order. We started with the prix fixe menu for 8-10 guests and were going to add other items à la carte, but a handful of our group accidentally went to the other Side Street location (make sure your group is all on the same page), so what we ordered ended up being more than enough. We left stuffed and with 5 boxes of food still. Edamame was nice and steamy, and large enough to easily pop the beans out with your mouth. Wish there was a bit more salt though. The farmer's salad had everything going on from citrusy to salty to crispy. Avocado had a little bit of oxidation but the capers, dressing and potato curls provided plenty of reasons to overlook it. The fried rice came in a hefty portion, with sizable pieces of bacon and sausage. The chicken I didn't realize was boneless based on the shape of the deep fry, but it was nice to freely bite into it without worrying about hitting anything with my teeth. Probably a bit too much on fried bits but still good. Pork chops had a better meat to crisp ratio in my opinion, as well as juiciness. They even came with ketchup on the side, which I love as a pairing but don't see much of at restaurants. My favorite meat item was definitely the sizzling boneless kalbi. The presentation on the sizzling plate with a side of kimchi was spectacular, and the meat was full of flavor. We also ordered yakisoba, which wasn't part of the prix fixe. Tasted good but nothing past standard expectations. We let the waiter know we had a 30th birthday at the table, and they brought a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with a candle, and did a decent job getting the whole room to participate in the singing. It could also be the type of crowd this place attracts, since it seemed that everyone was so friendly and approachable. One of them always being Side Street Inn. It been over ten years last time home now tow more locations. The one went with Ohana believe second one. I like about this one easier find and parking access better. It more open area much different vibe then the first one. I meet Ohana for end of Happy Hour. The Happy Hour menu is pretty awesome. Most of the popular items on it and say over half the menu. Just smaller portions slightly cheaper price point. The pork chop had get regular size cause so fwk good. So simple pan seared pork chop but perfection. Never had one golden crisp outside and moist but cooked perfect. U dip it in ketchup. I could have it everyday. Lucky three of us. Honestly, the prix 4-5 menu could've fed 6-7 people easily. Although we did add the Roast Pork Poke to the order. The famous pan-fried pork chops lived up its long standing reputation . Crispy on the outside, juicy and tender inside. The pieces with the bone are pure gold!! The roast pork poke was another standout. Tender, rich and awe man sooo satisfying!! Our Belgium friends couldn't get enough. The shoyu citrus vinaigrette added a bright acidity that cut through the beautiful richness of the pork. The kalbi had great char and tenderness, though a bit on the sweet side for my taste. The kimchi fried rice hit the spot with a nice kimchi flavor that was not overpowering and easily enough to feed 7-8 people. Had to try the infamous boneless Galbi and it did not disappoint! It didn't come as hot as I thought it would be given that it was served of a steaming skillet but I was still very pleased with the flavor and tenderness. I also got the garlic fried chicken. It was a giant potion which was great and it was packed with flavor. It's like the garlic sauce was injected into the chicken instead of sitting on top or tossed in the sauce, so it still had a nice crispy bite. this was one of my favorite places on my trip and I can't wait to return when I visit Oahu again. The salad was refreshing with a very nice vinaigrette dressing that was had a very smooth flavor, not overpowered with vinegar, noting a citrus taste. Edamame were big, fresh, tender and great flavor. Fried Chicken was good and fried just right with a sauce, very rich dish but good. Fried Rice with the char sui, bacon, peas, carrots and green onions was yummy. Excellent and attentive service, food came out fast, fresh and hot. Parking is Valet only underneath the building, not much in the way of street parking. Overall just an excellent meal across the board. We loved all of the dishes. My SIL's brother and wife were visiting from our of state and the family wanted to all get together. We had a table of more than 10 people, plus one toddler, and we were just 1 of several large groups enjoying lunch at that time. Arrived Weds early evening and wife wanted garlic fried chicken. Heard Side Street has some good chicken so decided to give it a try. To my surprise, their dinner menu is Ohana (family style) where the portions are bigger and meant for sharing. That's nice and all but what if you have just 2 people? Well, they didn't serve the plate lunches after 2pm on weekdays and their happy hour smaller plates are from 4-5:30pm on weekdays. That leaves their dinner menu which totally caught me by surprise as 8-10 pieces of their garlic fried chicken is $31. The a bowl of white rice with some furikake sprinkle is $9. Waitress said the portions were big and we'd probably have leftovers. So I decided to order it and the wife and I devoured it. It was one of the best friend chicken I've had with juicy tender pieces. The sauce is just a tad salty but with rice, it's perfect. Found my now favorite garlic fried chicken but will only go during lunch or happy hour. Have to give this place a 4 because the price is very high for chicken and white rice. Our bill came out to almost $50. Maybe we aren't used to these kind of prices and we live in California where things are pretty expensive too. This is an old office building where the restaurant takes up half the 1st floor. There is a bar and many long tables. Not the most fancy or modern looking place to eat but homey. The menu is short yet varied. It is full of Asian inspired dishes and they offer a prix fixe deal which is affordable for larger groups of people. The food selection for the prix fixe menu also covers all a variety of proteins, carbs and there are vegetables. The service moves nonstop and is friendly, helpful and fast. You should be fast as well. The food here is the star of the show. Garlic chicken is the number one ranked dish. The Kalbi beef is right behind and the fried rice plate is so delicious. There is steamed edamame, a beautiful and mysterious salad, fried pork chops that are so moist and you can even order dessert (for an extra cost). That's all I will say. The food is the draw here. We brought a small group of 12 for an early dinner and went for the set menu. The restaurant lot provided valet parking for $7 but the lot next door was much cheaper via payment via QR code. It took a little bit to get our entire group on site but we had reservations that were good for two hours of eating. Recommend booking in advance for large groups as we had to come before 5 as the later times were all reserved. We sat in the main dining room along with another group. For our size the set menu had a good selection of their classic dishes to share and we still had a lot of left overs to take back home. Fried chicken was juicy and crispy with a sweet garlic sauce. Boneless kalbi was a little chewy but had a nice marinade. Farmers salad was a light mix of avocados, cherry tomatoes, shrimp and crisp Okinawa potatoes. The Maui onion slices were a bit too much and could've been sliced thinner. Edamame could've used a little more salt. We also tried both the shoyu and spicy mayo poke. Shoyu was the table favorite. Overall staff did a great job taking care of the needs of our table. Checkin and waters were refilled on a regular basis. This spot for dinner was a revelation while staying down the street. We arrived before the end of Happy Hour and our server let us know the regular servings were served family style and pretty big. We had the edamame, the chicken misoyaki, the garlic chicken, the fried rice, the yakisoba, the bone-in kalbi, and the wing zings. The garlic chicken was amazing - boneless chicken with a crunchy skin and coating that was super juicy and tasty. The yakisoba was one of the best I have had. Maybe more of chow mein, but super tasty with great ingredients. The fried rice was also top tier - great ingredients, not overly seasoned. The kalbi was just okay - no real complaints. The wing zings were crispy wings with a small amount of spice - solid wings without sauce (my preference). We finished with a peanut butter crunch dessert, which was quite good. We saw the full size orders of food go by and the portions are huge! The plate of fried rice was the size of a football. Our server told us the garlic chicken irder was about 2 pounds of chicken! The pork chops looked amazing but we'll get those next time. Even the salads looked huge. I see how this place works for large groups. The entrance is a little strange - you enter off of Kapahulu and it just looks like an office building. But once inside, it feels very old school. Even the bar and drinks feel old school.
