This is by far my favorite ski rental place ever! I am now a dedicated customer. The equipment was great. They get new equipment every year and I loved my atomic demo skis. If I didn't like something, Jon, the owner offered to swap out equipment until I was happy. The location is perfect--right by the transportation center and covered bridge. Most of all, the customer service was amazing. It's a family owned business and Jon was so friendly. He gave us a boost of good mojo and positive attitude at the beginning and end of each ski day. He also is very knowledgeable and essentially served as a local resource for various questions we had. I can't say enough good about our experience! read more

Completely unreliable. Never seems to be open. Waiting and waiting for them to open in the am on a ski day! Ridiculous.

While looking for rentals for our stay in Vail, we chose this place because it was conveniently located in our hotel (Vail Mountain Haus); however, it ended up being my favorite rental experience I've had. They were super helpful getting us set up with our skis (we had our boots) also really good brands for rentals! Super great location only about 100 yards from the Gondola 1 and they stored skis for free every night and had them outside waiting each morning! If you come in on the bus, this would he right in the path to the slopes (right before Covered Bridge). Highly recommend, they also gave super good food recs! read more

We stayed at the Vail Mountain Haus. In the basement is the 8150 Ski Shop, hotel guests get 25% and supper service from Jon, and his dog companion Jasmine. Jon quickly measured us up while my son played fetch with the dog. We rented out ski equipment the night before, and Jon had it ready on the morning!. Really a nice man offering superb service. Avoid this ski shop at all costs! I was staying at the Mountain Haus and thought it would be convenient to go to 8150 ski shop since they were down stairs. This was a huge mistake. Although google and the sign outside says they're open from 8-6. I stood outside for nearly an hour. Finally a frequent customer called the owner and he showed up 10 minutes later. Don't bother trying to stop by after you ski because they will be closed before the lifts stop. In addition to this 8150 ski shop is the only ski shop that does not discount the purchasing of their skis even if you have already spent money on demoing. I highly recommend everyone to visit Christy or Vail mountain sports where their staff are professional and courteous. In all, this place is not worth your time and it would be much better spent on the slopes with your friends and family. read more

My girlfriend and I came to Vail for the first time and were really excited to finally ski the mountain that we've heard such great things about. We decided to rent skis at 8150. After waiting in line for the gondola and finally getting up to the mountain, my girlfriend discovered that they gave her TWO DIFFERENT SIZES OF BOOTS. People make mistakes, but when she called he told her he would not find a way to get her the boots and that she had to come all the way back down to the shop to get the new one. When she told me this, I called in and he told me that he would meet her at the bottom of the gondola and give us a full refund. When we went back in to return her skis at the end of the day, he refused to fully refund the rental after saying that he would over the phone. We went back to inquire bout the partial refund but he was so rude to us that she left the shop crying. Some examples of what he said include, "You're lucky I didn't make you walk all the way back here" and "No one else would have met you at the bottom of the gondola." (I'm a firm believer that any business who cares about their customers would have been more than willing to correct their mistake). We purchased a ski pass for a full day. She wasn't able to begin her first run until 12:30. So not only did we pay for the rental company to mismanage her ski boots, make her cry, and give her only a partial refund, but we also paid for a full day of skiing to have 8150 ski shop cost us half of that day. Anyone reading this knows that this is not an inexpensive place to ski. There are quite a hefty amount of ski shops in Vail. I would highly recommend utilizing a ski shop whose owner is kinder to its customers, ESPECIALLY to a young woman. Or maybe even a shop who cares more about its customers than keeping $40. read more

I drove into Vail for a day of skiing and just randomly chose whichever ski rental shop was most conveniently located to where I parked. I could not imagine a more perfect rental experience than what I had at 8150 Ski Shop. John, the owner, was so friendly and helpful. They had an excellent selection of skis, boots, and helmets, all at a very reasonable rental price! I highly recommend renting from 8150 Ski shop, and I will go out of my way to rent from there for my future ski trips! read more

Unreal shop, and I've been to most of them in the Vail Valley. Jon and team are on point. Prices for a hand tune are more than fair. His hand tune is below the branded shops 100 yards away. [PS - 95% of these shops send your skis to be put through a machine with the same edge angle and the same wax as the 50 rental skis sent into the machine before you. Go here. I promise - you will notice a massive difference in your skiing, edging and speed control. read more

8150 is the best deal you can find in Vail for ski rentals, tuning, and lockers. Jon (owner) is the most knowledgeable has been extremely helpful for all of our family needs. We have used several different rental companies in the greater Vail area but this is by far the best that we've found. On top of everything else the location couldn't be better. Just steps off the pedestrian bridge in Vail Village over Gore Creek (at the 10th mountain statue). We rent a locker here and couldn't be happier and now send all our friends and family here for all their rentals. read more

Jon (and Jazzy) are the best. I'm a New Yorker, and I rarely rave about a business, but in this case I had to. I called Jon in advance of my ski trip to pepper him with questions about rentals and assess his rates. He sold me over the phone, based on his incredibly competitive prices and the promise of high quality demos. He even offered to stay late if our party landed later than expected that night so he could have us on the mountain first thing the next morning. And not surprisingly, our party of 4 were each utterly in love with our equipment. Great guy, great dog (Jazzy), great prices, and amazing equipment. He's worth finding in the bottom of Mountain Haus, right at the covered bridge. read more
