I am not an expert when it comes to wood and was there to pay only for what will be a staircase to the attic in the garage. The contractor decided what to buy and it was a little more complicated to order, pay and then get the wood because my contractor made a couple of mistakes but realized when he actually saw the wood. Everything got fixed and we drove away with all the necessary stuff but I have to mention that the reason why I am rating this business with a five star is because of Todd. He patiently made the necessary corrections to the material and to the order with an exceptional amount of patience, incredible! if I was on his shoes maybe I would have reacted with some kind of negative reaction like maybe "make up your mind" guys if not out loud maybe just in my head. Not Todd he did all the necessary adjustments with a smile. I have interacted with this business in the past when they had to go to my home to make some repairs and I wasn't impressed with their work but todays experience erases any negative feeling I had. One of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. My contractor ordered a replacement window through Jeffrey Scott at the Summerville location. He was sent a photo of the sticker on the window which provides all relevant information. I was provided an estimate which I signed so the order could be placed. I was informed they don't accept credit cards over the phone since I didn't have an account with them. I drove 45 minutes each way to hand them my credit card. When the order came in a few weeks later I made the 90 minute round trip again to pick up the window. I sat in the parking lot for close to an hour until they finally located the window and placed it in my trunk. Upon arriving home, I realized the window was not only the wrong color, but also the wrong size. I was told by the co-manager, William Weeks, 84 Lumber would not accept a return or take any accountability because I signed the estimate. What kind of company takes no accountability for their employee's mistakes? Not one I'll ever do business with again. I'm not a home builder and don't pretend to be an expert in that field. That's why I prefer to work with professionals who know what they're doing and stand behind their work. I will never do business with this company again. read more

Our experience with 84 Lumber was extremely disappointing and we are still dealing with them a year later. Summer of 2019 we ordered $24K worth of windows from them for installation in September. Initial delivery of the windows for install showed some of the windows damaged and needed to be re-ordered. After a three-week delay to the start of the install it began the first week of October. With every window that was ordered and delivered the installer realized every single window was measured incorrectly and was not going to be full replacement as we had ordered. The installer had to make modifications to our house to get the windows to fit properly. The installation that was quoted to take 3 weeks from start to finish took 4 months. 84 Lumber even forgot to bring us the screens for the windows and when asked about them only brought half and they were the wrong size. Additionally, we were promised that our plantation shutters we had on our old windows would be able to be put back on the new windows as these were supposed to be full replacement. In the end, our shutters did not fit at all and we had to also purchase new shutters, costing us an additional $5K. 84 Lumber came to our 5 times during the course of ordering and re-ordering our windows to measure. In the end, the windows we received were the incorrect size resulting in months of continuous labor, headache and additional cost for us. Most recently, one of the picture windows showed a stress fracture in the glass running the entire width of the window. 84 Lumber would not take responsibility and forced us to call Jeld Wen who gladly came over to replace it as it was under warranty. On the day of the replacement Jeld Wen found that the window that was in the invoice matching the VIN number did not match in size and that 84 Lumber had, in fact, measured the window incorrectly. We are now having to deal with this again and will be waiting another 4-6 months for a replacement. This has been the worst experience we've had in any home renovation. We'll never work with 84 Lumber again and would recommend anyone else stay clear. Taking accountability for a mistake would have been the best path forward. Jeld-Wyn took responsibility for the warranty, the installers took responsibility for their mistakes and didn't charge us for rework. 84 Lumber was the only one who blamed every one else and never owned up to it. read more
