on 5/21/26 they replaced two springs and various other parts during a call to repair a garage door at my sister's house in Charleston. After researching all the parts that were replaced, we found that these part pricing were over inflated by 3 to 4X on her bill. not to mention the next day the garage door stopped completely working. they wanted another $1,200+ to put a new opener motor which caused us less than $500 to have installed. they took advantage of my sister during this event. The only reason I chose this company is the fact that our home warranty company USED TO use it! They no longer are affiliates! Precision quoted me a price, +6X what their competitor charged, only to find out that their technician over diagnosed the problem, assumably to get more money from the job - telling me I needed a new motor amongst other things. The competitor came the same day and completed the work with a bill of less than $200. With no thanks to Precision, my garage is quieter and more efficient! read more

I contacted PDS because my garage door opener decided that it would be a good time right before Thanksgiving to crap out on me. An appointment was set very quickly for the next morning, and Matt came out to inspect the garage. I was told that they'd be here between 8am and 10am, and Matt called at 7:50am to let me know he'd be there in 10 minutes. Very friendly and courteous. Matt worked up an estimate that included suggestions on more than what I had called him in for, which was fine, but unfortunately was way out of my budget for this particular need. He emailed me the estimate so that I could review it with my wife, and after some soul searching, we decided to go another route. I still wanted to give PDS and Matt four stars, even though we didn't use them after the estimate, but because of their service and timeliness with this estimate. read more

I called on Saturday and Monday morning I had service happening at my home. It was user error on my part that the door wasn't working. I did have the rollers changed while they were here to lessen the noise. They suggested a surge protector for my door and I had that done. They were quick and efficient. Ok so here's my reasoning behind my one star rating. You'll call them to come out to look at your garage door. They will say there's a service fee of $65. You might be hesitant because surly there are other companies that give FREE in person estimates. They will place you on two second hold while they ask their manager if they can waive the service fee... It takes more than two seconds to ask a manager that, right? Anyways so they come back ecstatic that they "found a coupon" and can waive the service fee for you. They say under their breath the fee is only waived if you get service done. So make sure you have your volume all the way up so you can hear them otherwise after their insane quote where you will most likely deny their service- they will force you to pay them their service fee. So a worker will come out and they will convince you that you need to replace the entire system. Springs, rollers, motor... Everything leaving you with a $1200 estimate to get your garage door in working order. The thing is, they work on commission so of course they will try and sell you everything that you don't need. They also charge more for their services and parts than any other company. So the Day after precision came out, I had another company come out and quote me $550 for the exact same service. Do yourself a favor and shop around. I bet you'll save at least half of what Precision quoted you. read more

This is our second time dealing with this company over the last few months. Our Garage doors were initially installed when the house was built in 2003. First visit was for a broken spring which cause the doors to suddenly lunge shut, quite a dangerous situation. They came out, on schedule, did a superb job in replacing the springs & were very reasonable in their charges. Today we called them (Saturday), they were here within the hour to replace the broken thread on the slide that closes the doors. The thread was not catching the door as the teeth were missing. They did the job in less than an hour, were courteous, professional & efficient. They work Saturdays. We had to replace our entire garage door a few months ago since our current garage door pretty much fell apart on us. Now, I am sure you can get a garage door installed from anywhere and they will do the job, but there were a few things that really made Precision stand apart. When they first arrived they were courteous enough to avoid going through my home, and were even hesitant to to come in without my permission. Since my garage door couldn't even open, we didn't have much of a choice, but the respect was appreciated. Upon showing them my door, they immediately identified how my old garage door broke and explained to me the what, why, and how of the defect. I let the workers do their thing, and I noticed that they were using tablets with job-specific software to record their measurements. The use of technology is amazing! Which leads me to my next point, when they were done they were able to immediately quote me three different prices on my door (a good, better, best scenario) and they emailed me the quotes straight from the tablet. Once i made my decision it was a couple of weeks before my door was fabricated and installed. Now that I have my new and improved garage door, I could not be happier. Month ago PDS came out got my garage door operational, and I ordered whole new door, tracks, motors, key pads, etc. for $2571. Something I can't really afford, but decided to bite the bullet. Today partially installed new door - wrong door was ordered - doesn't fit, and a window is cracked!! It is operational, but not right, and not worth the money I spent a month ago. Another 3-4 weeks before correct part comes in and installation finally completed. I am NOT happy!!! UPDATE If I could give a 0 Star, I would. January I spent $2571 to replace everything, could I have spent about 1/2 price and (I believe) kept existing door, but I decided no, do it right! What a HUGE mistake! A month later they came to install everything-see above review. Week ago told it would be in yesterday but wanted to inspect and make sure right part delivered! You guessed it - not inspected and wrong part delivered-so now wait another month. Also during past month door has not closed 5 times by the remotes and and installer said today original installers did it right, BUT could have done a lot bether UPDATE 3/28 the installation of my garage door is finally complete! Received check from PD couple weeks ago for full-refund. I could use it but didn't ask for it. People told me to take the money and run but for me to get a complete and total brand new automatic garage door is unfair. They screwed up the door, everything else seems fine. So I will sometime get a refund from PD for the cost of the door, and they will keep the monies I paid for everything else-motor, remotes, tracks, etc. read more

We have been in the process of renovating a house, and our original contractor walked off the job leaving the house in worse shape than before we started including our garage doors. The garage door openers were not working, and one of the door frames was detached from the ceiling which meant the door could have fallen accidentally. We contacted Precision Doors, and Andrew Pope came out and fixed all of our problems in no time. He even found that several parts that were part of the safety mechanism for the doors had been removed! Both doors are now functioning beautifully and at a fraction of the cost for purchasing new door openers. Repair man came by and said he had to replace the main board but it still doesn't work properly. He worked on the garage door and then left without talking to anyone. Especially after they came and started installing There are so many extra features, extra items Not included in comparable items that are not mentioned by other companies. I just love my new garage doors. They are so quiet, solid and beautiful. The best is also the comfort and security that I now have. New Update Recently I was updating some reviews I have out there on the Internet for various Companies that I have written. Shortly after that, I received a call from a nice lady at Precision Door named Cara who apologized for me not getting my refund check, and proceeded to verify my address and told me she was walking to the mailbox to put it in the mail. A few days later, a refund check for my $65. A day later I received a followup from Cara to make sure I had received my check. The check deposited fine and I am now much happier. In conclusion, I would say this about Precision Door: I think that in general, they are doing good work for people, but I still think they prefer recommending new equipment to new customers. I am guessing that new equipment is easier to maintain and warrant, and I am sure that the profit margin on brand new doors and equipment is probably much higher than repairing older equipment as well. I also think that the fine print on their coupons should be more upfront so as to avoid confusion. If you are not doing a free quote, then at least make sure the customer knows what they are getting and what they are paying for. They fixed my older doors and eventually got me my $65.00 back. So, after a while, they eventually followed through with what they said, which makes me a happy customer. I think they really do care about their reputation, and I feel that they actively manage that reputation. Thanks to Cara for getting me my refund, and thanks for the manager for fixing my doors. I do appreciate it the help. ----------------------------------------- Previous Update The update is that the company obviously cared about the lukewarm review (see below). The Manager made an appointment for a personal appointment to re-assess the situation. The Manager was a real nice guy, super professional, gave me a reasonable quote to FIX the doors in the short term, rather than install everything new. I was and continue to be super happy with the job he did. HOWEVER, during this process I was promised a $65 refund on the first service call (which they said had to be applied to the work performed), if I would change the review as a result. Not only did I not get the $65 refund even after calling multiple times, I did not even get a credit on the service as would have happened on the original call had the quote been reasonable and the work done at that time. SO - overall, my doors go up and down, and for that I am happy. Still feel that they screw up the customer service. If my $65 they promised me helps their company stay afloat, they can just keep it! ----------------------------------------- Previous Review Nice enough guy. Price to fix doors and drives = Price of new doors and drives... disappointing.
