Food was good..portions were good, exactly what you would expect at a ma and pop diner type restaurant. Not a place you want to go if you like to judge on atmosphere..it's very basic and old but well worth it cause there food is good! Looked like they keep it pretty clean

    Burger and fries!

When in Marion, we gotta hit 88 Dip!! We've been twice, when exploring the natural wonders of the region. Nothing beats a good burger and fries after a long hike! Except maybe a milk shake too!

    American classic!

GREAT food. Had gravy and biscuits, sausage and their hashbrowns. I highly recommend this place if you like good home cooked food!

Picked our sides from the options on the board rather than the less inspired options on the printed menu. (broccoli salad, hoppin' john, sweet (collard) greens, and Capri salad (not quite a caprese but did have cheese, tomatoes). Catfish was a the star - light and crisp and hot from fryer to the table - seasoned lightly and fresh tender fillets. It's nice to be able to choose the number of fillets you'd like adjusting for appetite or diners to share with. Pulled pork was moist and better than I would have expected at a non bbq restaurant, let alone one at a state park. More customers poured in after us - so the later you are to lunch, the more patient you'll want to be. On a Wednesday this might be the only restaurant in the area - I think we'd be looking as far back as Harrisburg for something else that was open.

We understand price increases but not like this, for what you get. While the buffet is okay, understand they're the only restaurant for over 20 mi. in 2 directions only so yes, they get good reviews, all things considered. Sorry, but we can drive on down the road to Golden Corral in Henderson, KY. for a lot less money and Henderson gas prices are lowest of all, another savings bonus. They have a huge buffet and excellent food at an affordable price (4/26 updated prices)...$14.99-17.99/adult dinners and all you can eat steak after 4 pm; adult lunch buffet..11.99-14.99 and they have senior discounts. Seniors about $3. less. With price increases the way they are, we're always looking for the best value for our money plus we get a bonus with less gas prices while there.

Another option was the soup and salad bar. White bean soup was like wallpaper paste. Broccoli soup was just as pasty but green. Neither had any flavor. Salad bar had bare minimals. Soup bowls were either a tiny butter dish or a ramekin. When I asked for a soup bowl the waitress pointed to my 2 choices. We shared a club sandwich which was ok. Went for breakfast the next day because the nearest town is 20 minutes away. Breakfast buffet was poor so we ordered off the menu. My traditional breakfast was fair. Ham steak was the highlight of my meal. Never got the potatoes that came with my plate. Also a first for me. Got the heal or end of the bread. Whole place is closed next year for major renovations. Should have closed sooner. Dining room overlooks the lake. Too bad the outside desk wasn't open.

Seafood night is just okay, but we wouldn't come back for it. Typical salad bar, dessert table with rotating pie/cake/ banana pudding (hot) & Vanilla soft serve machine. The staff is friendly. Had a classic breakfast with scrambled eggs bacon and toast, with a side of biscuits and gravy, can't say enough how good the food is!! I was there with my son, at 5:30 AM, to grab a bite to eat before his academic club competition. Can't wait to go back with the whole family!!

I ordered the chicken fried steak with white gravy, fried okra, "Mac and cheese" and "cornbread" Let's start with what went well! I was greeted and sat rather quickly and my drink order was taken. The food came out super fast and now I know why! My country fried steak was a country fried steak, no more no less! My fried okra was fried okra previously frozen I'm sure. The "Mac and cheese" HAHAHA! Was Kraft and was ice cold( Literally ) Zero flavor, zero seasoning, they didn't even try to dress it up. My " Cornbread? Was a blob of tasteless cornmeal and flour that was so dry and tasteless that I took a bite and spit it in my napkin. NOPE!! Just NOPE... The ambiance was kind of like a middle school cafeteria, just there.
