The Cove Shopping Center is a local Deerfield Beach landmark. Constructed in 1959 on Hillsboro…read moreBlvd, east of Federal Highway, it is withing walking distance of the beach. The Cove has some exciting new developments. Three new food and drink projects recently opened. These include the 46 year old Cove Restaurant and Tiki Bar which got a 6.5 million dollar makeover. Since 1977, the intracoastal waterfront Cove Restaurant has been a favorite of the Deerfield Beach community. The renovation project was spearheaded by developer Lou Moshakos who runs Oceanic and Lucky Fish Pompano. Mosakos has many fond memories of knocking back drinks with his wife after working at the Seafood Shanty. When the restaurant came up for sale he decided to purchase and restore it. Changes to the restaurant include a new chef and Key West style makeover of the tiki bar. On the opposite end of the plaza is the new 2.15 million dollar Cove Brewery with a 8,500 square foot brewhouse and taproom. The brewery anchors a 24,000 square foot warehouse that houses four new businesses including the recently opened Won-Tom's restaurant. I am exited to check out the changes to the plaza but I also enjoy dining at The Sticky Bun for breakfast , Modern Rose for light bites and coffee, and Patricia's of New York for dinner. Other businesses include jewelry stores, laundry, bridal stores, legal, banking, medical, and beauty services, clothing stores, pubs, and many other restaurants. If there is one drawback to The Cove it is that parking can be hard to come by. Complicating matters is the fact that people park here and walk over to the beach. If there is a festival going on you can forget about finding a space. Lou Moshakos has purchased roughly 2 acres of land next to The Cove and is considering building a parking garage to alleviate the parking headache. So many locals and tourists have fond memories of going to The Cove through the years . The new businesses and next phase of development will bring even more good times.

Located near the intracoastal waterway, this strip center has it all: restaurants, gift shops, several offices, bridal stores, boutiques and even a catering venue called Royal Fiesta. Sometimes the plaza has events like farmers markets, car shows etc. This is a fun shopping center because not only is it walking distance to the beach but it has a full marina and a path leading to Sullivan Park. It's so much fun people watching because you get to see people walking their dogs, riding their bikes, or just walking around enjoying the many stores and restaurants. The largest and most well known restaurant is Two George's; great for relaxing with an adult beverage on the water. There's also a family owned Italian restaurant called Antonio's, Sticky Bun for breakfast & lunch, Modern Rose Teahouse, Kava Lounge, French & Mexican restaurants, and American Rock Bar & Grill. There is something for everyone, so I can assure you that you won't go hungry. Many of the restaurants are dog friendly which I think is awesome especially since I plan on adopting another fur baby soon. Saving the best for last; my favorite restaurant in the plaza is Casa Maya. They serve the most delicious Mexican food and there is a small bar if you want to pop in for a margarita. It gets pretty loud but the food is worth it. The plaza is home to two bridal stores (Bellissima & Casa De Bridesmaids), a high end dress shop (Sondro), law offices, a tattoo shop, several stores as well as nail & massage places. The Cove shopping center is easy to find. Head east on Hillsboro & it's right before the bridge on the south side of the road. Lots of parking too. :-)

We are here a lot for the Lowe's store as well as occasionally the Macy's. And also for Big Lots on the north side. The restaurants have come and gone, but there are a few we like and patronize -- the fish and shrimp one and the middle eastern one to cite a couple. And the Burlington and TJ Maxx stores that were recently added are also a draw. It is our town mall, so we are happy it's now on the up side. They even have a number of outbuildings with businesses and restaurants and signs saying more are coming soon. Here's to supporting local businesses!

Broward County has set up the parking lot to be a drive thru vaccination site. County and city officials along with volunteers are working along with the mall security department to keep this site secure and organized. I received both of my vaccinations here and I was pleasantly surprised at just how smooth the process was. Everyone worked together to get us in and out as quickly as possible. Security did an excellent job getting us in the correct lanes and making the lot easy to navigate. After the fifteen minute waiting period, they were there to guide us out in a safe manner. This location is conveniently located in the old Macy's parking lot. Located on the SW corner of Federal Highway and Copans Road.

The security agent was running around and yelling at people without even a simple 'good afternoon' or asking if they were visiting one of the businesses. A more professional and courteous approach would make a big difference in the customer experience. Situations like this can easily push someone to choose a place like Starbucks instead of supporting tenants like 2nd Street Bagel/ Long story short or Ramen Lab- all 3 regular visited choices and 5 star service locations. A little more patience and a friendly tone would go a long way."

The popular Asian restaurant Ramen Lab Eatery anchors the end of the plaza closest to Sanborn Square. On this trip I was getting a tea from Long Story Short Cafe. Other businesses in this plaza include Souvlaki Fresh, Curlspiration, a hair salon, a spa, Nice Barber Studio, Vino Wine Bar and Italian Kitchen. Six Tables A Restaurant, Boca Skewers, 2nd St. Bagels & Deli, and a cleaners. Parking is the Achilles' heel of this plaza. You can only travel in one direction and there is never enough spots. It's so bad there are warning signs posted everywhere stating how long you can stay. If there is an event in the area they hire someone to sit in the parking lot. The tow truck is called on anyone who steps foot out of the plaza. There are two large free parking garages nearby so there is no need for anyone to hog spots here. Despite the parking headache I keep coming back because the places to eat are interesting and I like the location of the plaza in relation to its placement in Boca. After getting stuck behind a group of cars battling it out over a spot I lucked out with my own parking spot in front of Long Story. You never can tell how it will play out. The parking Gods were in my favor this time.
