Our family of 5 (three kids, girls aged 9 and 7, and 5 yr old boy) just returned a few days ago…read morefrom a week in Yellowstone National Park followed by a week at Nine Quarter Circle Ranch. There are a lot of trips that are fun but don't quite live up to the highest expectations, but our time with the Kelsey family at NQCR was a rare thing in that it far exceeded our wildest expectations. By the end of the very first evening we had already been welcomed as warmly as though we were family, and our kids each had found a friend among the other kids on the ranch. By the second day the kids were all asking if we could please schedule again for next summer. Even though I had chosen NQCR for its famous kid wrangler program, we had no way of knowing just how much fun they would all have. Their days were filled with horseback riding, various crafts, playing on the playground and just exploring the gorgeous ranch with their new-found friends. The only problem we had all week was when we had to convince them it was time to wash and go to bed since the sky was light until almost 10 every evening. This left my wife and me free to take advantage of the twice daily rides (where we both significantly increased our horsemanship skills), the fly fishing and a few hikes to take in the amazing views. We really never rode the same trails twice, and I feel if we had stayed a second week we still wouldn't have seen all the stunning scenery surrounding the ranch. The menu was varied and we looked forward each day to the fresh and tasty food their chef cooked up. In fact, as beautiful as the ranch was, as awesome as the horses were and as comfortable as our cabin was, the real treasure here are the Kelseys and their staff. From the wranglers to the kitchen and serving staff, we enjoyed being with everyone there. It was great to see so many employees working with obvious joy and we will miss all of them almost more than everything else from our stay.

Wonderful family vacation. Lots of riding. Beautiful scenery. Great food. Family run ranch.read more

We stayed in Gallatin for 4 nights. We were with two other families. When booking this house I was…read morea bit skeptical that it would not be sufficient for 8 people but we were pleasantly surprised it was good for 10 people. We had one outside bed in lower living room and needed an extra bed for my son. The staff was extremely friendly and helped us with a small foldable foam bed. House was well maintained and we had no complaints. One small suggestion would be if they could put out a garbage disposable outside or behind the house that can be easily identifiable. We initially struggled a bit to spot the garbage disposal box.

We had plenty of room for everyone. Of the 8 bedrooms, 6 have king size beds, and two of them have private full baths. There are 3 additional full baths for the others. The cabin itself is pretty new, so everything was clean and in working order. The location is very close to the west entrance to the park, and is convenient to downtown shops and restaurants. The kitchen had plenty of plates, silverware, pots and pans, etc. I was especially impressed with the quality of the pots and pans, very nice for a rental. The cabin also has a full sized washer and dryer, which was very convenient. The WIFI was available, but I have to say it is not very fast. Considering the location, this was not too surprising. There were no problems with billing, or unexpected charges. Overall a great choice for a large party, I highly recommend this location!

The view from the front porch is stunning-over looking snowcapped mountains and evergreen trees. The interior of the house is SO cozy and brand new! The owner is very handy and built the house himself. The cabinets, bedroom furniture is all homemade from wood, the work is really beautiful. Stainless steel appliances, flat screen tv, brand new bathroom, washer/dryer. This is the perfect place to call home after a long day of Montana adventures! Prices are very reasonable, too. We stayed in the 2 bedroom, 1 bath "Creekside" cottage and I believe it was just $220/night! The super 8 motel down the street charges $250/room. There is a front and back porch. Back porch looks over small bubbling stream. It is very relaxing! Highly recommend Brook Trout Inn!

It is an older cabin but has everything that you will need. Has a nice deck that looks over the valley. It was clean and the bed very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook. We cooked all our dinners at the cabin because W Yellowstone is expensive when it comes to dinner. It has WiFi and Direct TV. Has a nice gas fire place to keep you warm. Our stay was the 2nd week of September so we were going into fall weather and it snow one day. I definitely would stay there again. Bill was a great host!!!

It is in Emigrant a small town that boasts a great bakery and great BBQ in the warm season. To get to and from the Cabin you drive through the Chico Hot Springs Resort. In addition to hot springs Chico has a riding stable and adventure company for white water, scenic floats and hiking. This is nice if you don't want to drive to Gardiner some days. There is also a nice hike to a falls just up the road from the cabin. The cabin itself was excellent. We were there on some hot days and the cabin stayed cool if you closed the blinds as instructed. There was a full kitchen and while fussy cook husband might have wanted sharper knives for prep work he managed to make some fine meals. He also used the charcoal grill but the black flies were thick in the heat. Better him than me! Happily the long porch facing the stream is fully screened. No biting things there. The porch had a casual dining table and glider bench. The cabin had two bedrooms and one and a half baths. The half bath was in a utility room which included a washer and dryer. Priceless! There was also a comfy living room with two sofas and a glider chair. We never used the TV but it was there too. The cabin had wifi thankfully because there wasn't much cell reception. Basically it was a great place to get away, listen to the creek at night and relax.

BEWARE: Canceled Holiday Booking Raises Serious Questions About Transparency…read more Our group of 16 is now out nearly $14,000 extra because Natural Retreats canceled our confirmed Christmas booking with just two months' notice. While that's bad enough, the real issue for future travelers is the company's troubling lack of transparency. We were told the house was "sold." This isn't something that happens overnight. It leaves you with serious questions: - Did they know the property was on the market when they took our money and confirmed our booking? - Why did they fail to protect our confirmed reservation as a condition of the sale? - When we were left scrambling, why did they refuse to help cover the massive price difference for their other properties, or even make a small exception on a 5-night minimum to help us out? The entire experience felt less like an unfortunate situation and more like a calculated business decision where our family vacation was deemed acceptable collateral damage. My advice to other travelers: Before you book, ask them directly if your property is for sale and what happens if they cancel on you. Because a "confirmed" booking with this company might not mean what you think it does. If you are booking a trip that involves non-refundable flights, I would seriously reconsider.

The food was great and the service across the board was exemplary. And needless to say the fishing experience was topline with super experienced guides David Kern and Isaac Corman. The true test of an experience, however, comes when one sees how management deals with an issue. Our issue was that the air conditioning broke and the first night the room was unbearably hot. They had an AC team come in and although they couldn't fix the unit while we were there, they had a portable unit installed to take care of the immediate issue. And more importantly, Manu, the manager, worked to reach an acceptable arrangement to cover our discomfort. Overall - I would definitely return and recommend for others to come see what they have to offer.

But not did I learn how to cast a fly (and land a Trout!), but my visit to Madison Valley Ranch ended up being one of the best trips I've ever taken. From the moment you walk in the door, the ranch rolls out the red carpet. After being welcomed with a cold draft beer and tour of the property, we settled into our very comfortable guest rooms to unwind before dinner. Whether you plan to fly fish or not, the entire ranch is designed to make you feel at ease, and at home -- from the incredible back porch views to the outrageously good dishes served up at every meal. Manu and her team take customer service to a new level, from equipping you for an incredible day on the river to selecting the perfect bottle of Cabernet to pair with your dinner. No detail is too small for them, and no request goes unmet. The accommodations are as comfortable as any 4-star hotel, the meals as delicious as any gourmet restaurant, and the views as beautiful as a slice of heaven. And with ample meeting space for corporate groups, its the perfect setting for a team-building escape. I simply can't say enough about Madison Valley Ranch -- whether you're an experienced fisherman or just learning to cast a fly, it's hard to imagine a better place in America to put your rod into the river.
