The manager, Ramiz will talk all day long without saying anything, except maybe for a few oft-repeated racist anecdotes. We both chose the Manual Transmission course and were berated by the instructor Alex, who insisted constantly that we should give up. The equipment is failing and they do not allow you to practice in the same truck that you must take the DOL test with, setting students up for failure. Overall, we probably received half of the training hours that we were promised. Practically any other school would be preferable. It is vastly overpriced for the quality of the product provided.

Then, I burned the clutch trying to go uphill (more than once - resulting in a need for a new clutch) and felt extremely discouraged. I was very nervous to get behind the wheel again, thinking I may cause further damage to my car. I was referred to Stick Shift Driving Academy from a family member, and it was just what I needed. After speaking with JC at customer service about my availability, I was matched with Amber, a driving instructor in my area. Amber called me and we set up a place to meet and practice that was close and convenient for me (along a bus line). Stick Shift Driving Academy hosts many driving instructors throughout the U.S. and you are matched with one in your area based on your needs. In my case, I was very happy to learn from another woman! Amber was very patient and understanding. We used her car to practice, so I felt comfortable trying new things and was not worried about burning the clutch on my older vehicle. She also helped me understand what could have gone wrong for me to burn my clutch, and I haven't had that "burning rubber smell" since! I drove with Amber for four hours (the High Power Vehicle Package). I will say - I think the packages should really just be thought of as "how long do you want to drive for?"- I don't think the packages really relate to different "levels."- The instruction is flexible and based off of the customer's needs. In my case, I really needed to focus on hills, so that's what we did. We found an empty parking lot with some hills, and did that until I felt comfortable. Additionally, I learned downshifting, reversing, feathering (a technique new to me, and soooo helpful!), and of course shifting to 1st gear. Overall, I highly recommend Stick Shift Driving Academy and Amber. My confidence in driving my own vehicle is way up, and I'm conquering hills in the Seattle area with more ease!

I really appreciate the fact that in the swimming pool area include numerous places for adults to sit while the kids have classes or just participate in free swim. When I went to Puyallup last Sunday, I could barely believe there are virtually no places to sit, so thank you for making the pool area user friendly and the, 'You are welcome type feel.' Very clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. Fantastic instructors who are fun, knowledgeable, and encouraging. Love the location! The only reason why I am giving this establishment 4 stars versus 5 is that they do not offer even one time slot for evening pickleball. There are many people who just cannot be at the Y in the early morning or afternoon, which is very unfortunate for them.

NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR WOMEN ANYMORE!!! This has gotten out of control! Women should not be bringing…read moreboys into the adult side of the women's locker room who are 5 or older. It's gotten to the point that 5, 8 and 10 year old boys will come into the women's side of the locker room and just stare at women and the parent or the staff are doing nothing about it. I have been writing comments and asking the staff to enforce the rules for over a year now and none of them will. My 12 and 14 year old girls aren't even comfortable going into the women's locker room anymore. They shouldn't even let 5 and under in the women's locker room. There is a kids side and it sold be 2 and under for boys. They even have a family room but they ignore it and use the women's locker room. If they are going to bring the kids in they need to follow the rules and use the kids side not the adult side. The signage is not clear enough or people don't bother even reading the signs. I tried to inform a mom today that there was a kids side and ask her to take her boy to the other side but that feels wrong also because that's where the little girls are. I was verbally attacked and was getting yelled at by the woman for asking her to please take her boy to the kids side. She's yelling and me and crying and the I get ganged up by 3-4 other women even though she's the one yelling and swearing at me. Staff did nothing about it!! The lifeguards ignore the boys waking into the women's locker room who are clearly older than 5 as well. It's not a safe place for females anymore and it's only getting worse.
