First impression, why did we need reservations.... Since we didn't know the hidden entrance. Well, it's a cool concept once we entered. There's a dress code so be advised. What I found out was the entrance of the speakeasy was through a phone booth that next to the pool table of Roxanne's bar. Once reservations is made, you'll received an email with a password to enter. Enter phone booth and to connect to the inside and they'll open the door for you. We had the first reservations I believe they opened at 7pm. We were the first group to arrive. As it was my first time, we had ordered bar food and were waiting for it inside the main bar. So half an hour was used from our time limit. The speakeasy, dark and moody but perfect for the place. Special crafted cocktails by the bartenders which were great. They also have food as well, found out later. We did try the meat pie, which it was just ok. Basically an empanadas, the pickle veggies accompanied it was my favorite. It was good but nothing major to rave about. The drinks were quite nice and tasty. What they offered on the menu did have a load of good choices. Tables scattered throughout as well as bar seating. There's a piano which maybe used for live music. Overall, the moody speakeasy vibe was great. Friendly staff and bartender made some great drinks. What we had to snack on, the meat pie was just ok. They're very strict with the time limits. Once it's reached they'll let you know.

The owner and staff clearly love what they do, and it shows - from their knowledge of music and their chill and friendly attitude, to the time and care that they've put into their catalog and storage. I ordered online and came in to pick up. Of course I took the liberty to dig in-store and found some gems. I had to leave and didn't completely go through all the records but that's ok, I'll be back, as The Terminator would say. Mark was super nice and pointed out the little stool to sit on for digging the bottom shelves. Ah, much better. side note: they were playing Inxs Kick album and that brought back a million memories, since it was my first concert at Irvine Meadows in 1988. We decided to hire them for a wedding on November 28, 2022 and it was one of the best decisions. At our wedding they were amazing and very professional. My entire family danced and enjoyed the music. Since my last review 11 (!) years ago I've been back many many times and have seen some amazing bands at this humble venue. It's a reliable place for me and the hubby to catch cool bands, local or otherwise. They use the DICE app for ticketing and keeps prices reasonable, no doubt from being able to circumvent the LiveNation racket. Their trivia nights are still going strong, and there's always something going on. Even though their outdoor patio has shrunk recently (something beyond their control), it's still one of the best places in Long Beach for live music, provided you're into punk and adjacent genres. The staff was friendly from the bartenders, the servers and the young teens working the pretzel booth. What made this even cool was planning. My sister reserved and paid for a table . The reserved tables are listed by name so even though i was the first of my group to get there, I easily ordered my drink and food knowing that I had a spot ready for me. The pretzels were amazing! I ordered a lot to share and we all got full fast. The best was the Dubai. Our time slot was for 12pm to 4pm but we felt like we were done at 2pm. We ended up offering our table to a group of friends who were standing the entire time they were there. Overall, it was a great event. It alowed me to walk around and check out the other vendors at Old World. Free parking at the parkling lot across the street was a great pull. Thanks to the event organizers for setting that up.
