To begin, I happen to work at a store that has this radio station Monday - Saturday. As other reviews have recently stated, the playlist is incredibly repetitive--like, I'm pretty sure I hear the same songs on repeat every single day. It's honestly like they hit "shuffle" on a 30-song playlist and just keep playing the same tracks over and over again. If you're into hearing the same 5 songs 20 times a day, then this station might be for you, but for anyone who wants some variety, it's incredibly frustrating. It's the same music every morning, afternoon, and evening. For those listening that want to bypass the main repeats at the 18-22th minute of every hour from this station then you can Miley Cyrus: Flowers, Luke Combs: Fast Car, Sabrina Carpenter: Espresso, Teddy Swims: Lose Control, Billie Ellish (Gasping for air), Taylor Swift (Cruel Summer) - removed from the rotation (lol). "96.5 KOIT!" - The radio station's famous tag line. This radio station has been around since IDK why but after Thanksgiving, it has been my go to radio station to listen to for some Christmas music. This station has beat out 94.5 KBAY and is now the remaining radio station possible for holiday music. For this station there are some strong points involved. During the holiday season, radio hosts do shout out for businesses that play their music. They have some interesting radio events that you don't see on other stations. This radio station is also home to the GOATs of Bay Area radio. Sam and Lisa was on the radio for many years before their retired. Now it's 2022 they stepped up their game and is playing every Christmas song possible. No more annoying HRA bothering the station any more. They really do live up to their name of light rock and less talk but it comes at a price. (see drawback) Drawback: I don't like how there is a jukebox effect because the same song repeats once in 2 hours. read more

The most boring radio station ever! The music played makes me angry. Recently they started playing better older music from the 80's and 90's, but not enough. It is the only radio station that I have ever disliked so much. Unfortunately it is one of the few stations that has a strong enough signal to play in our building. Hey I don't even listen at home but many of the places I grab lunch at or do business with have it on all day so I keep hearing the same songs over and over and over. At one time I had XM Satellite Radio and dumped them for the same reason a very few songs played at nausium as the ancient Romans would have said (repeated to the point of nausea). I migrated to a 16,000 channel Internet radio so I can listen to what I like at home and would never turn KOIT on at home nor Kelly Clarkson for that matter... If you could put a radio station through cryogenics, you'd get KOIT 96.5, which, now that I've put it that way, actually sounds kind of cool--certainly much cooler than the real KOIT. The worst is from the day after Thanksgiving until New Years Eve when all the workers (if they have any to begin with) go on vacation and they leave the same "holiday hits" tape with 8 songs and 5 commercials on it looping for two months. read more

This radio station has high camp value. In a sense,it's so bad,it's good. Its easy-going nature is the reason why it's the "most popular radio at work." I mean come on. But anyway, I've had problems finding a good Christmas music station the past two years. The stations I used to listen to either stuck to one short playlist or played enough commercials to make you think you're tuning into an infomercial channel. But KOIT has been good; solid selection of songs including ones you don't hear all the time and a modest amount of commercials. Lite Rock, Less Talk I use to hate this radio station because my mom would ALWAYS listen to it in the car. All the "in" songs never played on this station, most were oldies. Music on this station does NOT change, they still play the same songs from a decade ago & throw in a few newer songs from the past year. As I grew up, I changed maybe or my taste in music changed. People can be really horrible drivers. Like, really horrible. And stressing about people's horrible driving is not a great way to start or end the workday. Luckily, I have KOIT as the #1 preset on my radio dial. The music isn't great but it does a great job of snapping me out of a driving stress fest. Yesterday, someone switched over two lanes, right in front of me, without using their blinkers. Two lanes! Then someone parked in a lane without using their hazards, and I forgot what else happened- but I almost snapped. I exhaled, hit that number one on my radio dial, and inhaled as Kelly Clarkson's singing eased me the last few blocks to the office. Thank you, Kelly, and thank you, KOIT. I really don't like "I Just Haven't Met You Yet," it is quite annoying. Their play list comprises of 70s and 80s pop. Is there nothing more recent beside Michael Buble and Colbie Caillat?
