He keeps making service appointments and then canceling them for various reasons. The winter is coming and it is going to get cold. I called him today and he was extremely rude with me condescending. Then told me that it still wasn't going to get done for at least two more weeks. Because he has issues he's working on. If he can't do it I understand but he should be upfront with us to begin with or he just needs to quit. My mom spent thousands of dollars on the system. He's the one who installed it. If he can't stand by his work then surely he can stand by his word...

The reason is that Dennis Carey has built a business on the old fashioned model of integrity. Its a business that he is proud of and it carries his name. Then I was asked about where my air filter was. I pointed to the end of the hallway. The first gentlemen went down the hallway and the second one motioned for me to follow. After being asked if I was home alone, I was not about to let myself get boxed in between two strangers in my house. I was able to retrieve my handgun and kept it with me during the rest of the time they were there. It was a very disturbing experience for me. I reported this incident to this business, who asked if i would be willing to discuss what happened with a manager. I said that i would. It's been longer than 24 hours since that offer was made and I have not heard from anyone regarding what happened. This company was recommended by a co-worker, and I was looking forward to doing business, but the entire situation completely put me off.

We called Will, and he made time to come out the next evening. He was able to easily diagnose the problem as a blown capacitor and fixed it at a very reasonable price. We were up and running with a working a/c that same night! Will also remembered some of our other ongoing needs, with another aging a/c on our house and issues with our duplex rental. He is so knowledgeable and truthful when he talks to us about options. Having used his services many times, we trust him when he says if something is an easy fix or needing something more expensive. He is the service pro everyone should have saved in their phone. So lucky to have found him!

Last summer, I was told I needed to replace my HVAC system before this summer because it uses R-22. Naturally, that was stressful and felt like a huge unexpected expense. When Will came out, he carefully inspected the system and then walked me through the facts. He explained that as long as the unit is working properly, there's no need to replace it just because it uses R-22. He also clarified that refrigerant doesn't need to be added unless there's a leak (contrary to what I had previously been told about it needing regular refills). At no point did he try to upsell me or pressure me into replacing something that still works. Instead, he focused on what was actually necessary and in my best interest. That level of integrity is rare and incredibly appreciated. It's clear he genuinely cares about his customers and values doing the right thing over making a quick sale. I truly can't recommend him highly enough and will absolutely continue to use and refer him in the future.

My Mini-Split quit cooling Tuesday. I tried to get it going by cleaning the filter and I didn't…read morework. I went to my Yelp app to read reviews and was surprised to find the app has a referral service. I took a look at Southern Heating and Cooling. The referral service on Yelp put me in touch with Southern Heating and Cooling and I had help on the way for Wednesday. He quoted me his service call price which I really liked. Other heating and cooling contractors also responded,but Southern was the first to give me a price. Spencer was the technicians name and he arrived within minutes of his appointment time. He went to work quickly , checking inside and out. Within a few minutes I had the diagnosis. Mini split was done and needed replaced. He had to order a new mini split and it would be in tomorrow. He told me the price and how long it would take to install and then the time he would take to install the new one . He came the next day and began. He worked efficiently and steady . Spencer also covered his shoes when entering the house to help keep my house clean. He brought another guy this trip named Jeff. They worked well together and i a few hours I was cool again. The amount he quoted on Tuesday was the same as on Wednesday. I will call Southern Heating & Cooling again, You should consider calling them too.

SPENCER SAVED US FROM A RIP OFF!…read more We live in an older house with limited income with an older Tappan/Nordyne furnace that had been getting temperamental during November/December of 2025. But fortunately, replacement parts for it are inexpensive now. The HVAC company we had been using charged us TRIPLE Spencer's rate just to come and take a look several times, and they were not very transparent about what they find. They tried more than once to pressure us to spend $6000+, plus labor for a new furnace, made by a company that has a bad reputation in the industry for being poorly made in foreign countries. We opted to keep our own furnace. the last time we spoke, their tech told us we needed a very important piece for our furnace. And we balked at the price he quoted for part alone! They quoted SIX TIMES the price of that same part available (brand new) elsewhere, PLUS a very high hourly labor rate that began getting charged at the end of their previous service call, to cover their drive time from any county they happened to be in on the given day. And when our furnace failed a few days later in the night during outdoor temps in the low teens, they did not respond to my calls for help. (Interior temperatures were 50° and dropping that night, and I care for an elderly Dementia patient here.) I called Spencer at Southern Heating & Cooling the following day (Sunday) he said he is booked up until Tuesday after such a harsh cold snap, so we buckled down with space heaters and electric blankets, because Spencer's ETA was still sooner than anyone else we called. SPENCER SHOWED UP A DAY EARLY! He was very transparent about what he was doing, what he discovered, and explained why our furnace misbehaved, in all the detail we asked for! and he ordered the part. UPS had a snow delay and the people at Southern even texted us the UPS tracking reports, and offered to loan us a couple space heaters to help us through the single-digit temperatures until the part arrived, (because of the unexpected delay, and the potential emergency that could happen with Grandma) Fortunately, the heaters were not necessary and the part arrived the following day, Spencer was here in less than an hour and installed the new part in just minutes! SPENCER WORKS FAST! The furnace was working perfectly until later that night, the new part exposed a developing problem in an adjacent part, and the furnace was misbehaving again after nightfall. I called to ask Spencer about it, and he came back immediately and had a look, that adjacent part was replaced in about 5 minutes, and we were back up and running fine, free of labor and visit charges. The additional work was considered an extension of the original repair job Spencer came to do in the beginning. It has been several days already, our furnace has been running like new ever since, and Grandma is a happy camper again! I value Southern's transparency, honesty and quality of service. They did not take me for granted, & They did not price gouge me in a crisis. "FIX-FIRST KIND OF A GUY" Spencer told us he is a "FIX-FIRST KIND OF A GUY" he believes in most cases fixing what you already got can cost a lot less than replacing the entire unit, and that's what happened with us. We got our existing furnace working as good as new for about 1/10 th of the price of the newer, complaint-ridden brand of furnace the other HVAC company had wanted us to replace our existing furnace with. The folks at Southern Heating & Cooling Ltd, take great care of their customers, and their rates are great, next time I need any HVAC work done, Southern Heating & Cooling Ltd. Will be my first call. And I will highly recommend them to anyone in the Boyle County area who asks me for an honest, transparent & fair HVAC specialist with affordable rates.
