The lady who answered seemed very disingenuous. I briefly explained the problem, she said, she "might" be able to have someone out on Tuesday. I explained my urgency for Saturday or Monday. She said, they don't work Saturdays and didn't have anyone until Tuesday at the soonest. I asked if she could recommend another Garage Co. in the area that worked Saturdays? This is the 3rd time we've hired this company to service or repair our garage doors. The last two times a tech named Kyle came out. He is friendly, very efficient and very informative. The last time he gave me detailed instructions on how to grease the door opener chains and other components to keep them running smoothly and give them a long life. This time he was here to replace both garage doors since I had smooshed one with the rear end of my car. Huge helpful hint: when backing the car out of the garage, make sure you check to make sure you didn't accidentally press the button on the remote to close the door. I unknowingly pressed it while futzing around with the in-dash CD player while backing the car out. The music was too loud to hear the door closing. Oops. But Kyle was out here quickly for the original estimate. We chose to use doors already in stock for the replacement otherwise it was going to be 6 weeks for new doors to arrive if we ordered them from their catalog. These are plain white T's doors without the fancy boxes in the original doors. That's why we ordered two doors so they would both match. Within a few days Kyle was back with the doors and installation only took a couple of hours or so. He also lubed the moving parts! And did I say the guy's really friendly. He also kept his face mask on all the time and he made sure he was standing on the ground several feet away from our front porch when talking to me. In the garage we both maintained social distancing. The cost of the work was very fair considering it was my Oops. This is a great company and I highly recommend them for garage door service and repair. read more

My garage door fell off the track and was hanging precariously over my truck. A-1 came out on a Sunday and dismantled the garage door panel by panel. AMAZING! My garage door cables backlashed while the door was open on a Saturday afternoon. Note I just purchased the home and moved in only six weeks ago. My garage springs broke; probably the one of the very few things on my house I refuse to touch. I found A1 Door Service here on Yelp, called and left a message on a Saturday. They called me back within the hour and I had an appointment scheduled for Tuesday afternoon (they offered Monday, but I was already taking the day off on Tuesday). After just a couple of quick questions about my doors (how tall, material, insulated, etc) so they knew exactly what springs to bring out with them. Greg, the owner, showed up sooner than I expected; normally when a business says "afternoon" it means 10 minutes before dinner. Nope, I got a pre-arrival call at 1:00pm and Greg arrived at 1:15pm and said it'd take him 30 minutes. He was professional, efficient and had the job done in wha felt like less than 30mins. This is the garage door company you should call if you need a repair! Our door broke on Thanksgiving and Gregg came out that day to get the door open so we could get our cars out. He came back on Monday and replaced the broken spring. Today, we had another issue - unrelated to the work done previously - and Gregg was able to come out within an hour of being called. We were having a stressful day and needed our cars and they re-arranged their work schedule to take care of our garage door issue. Their understanding, courtesy and professionalism is so refreshing and so rare; we are very thankful for their efforts. Absolutely fantastic service. After Home Depot called to say they didn't have any installers who would install doors on Vashon, we were stuck with two new garage doors and no one to install them. When our first try resulted in the installers not even showing up, we hunted around and found A-1. They are absolute professionals. The installer showed up 10 minutes early - let me tell you that never happens on Vashon - and had both doors hung by early afternoon. They look beautiful, run up and down wonderfully. He even pointed out to me a small (nearly invisible) scratch in the faux wood finish before he hung the doors, in case we wanted to make Home Depot fix it. Called them to replace garage door springs . They came and replaced the springs but they didn't do the job right the first time I had to call them again to fix the issue (springs not seating properly causing the door to not go down right away). The tech was great and friendly. But the whole time lady over the phone wasn't pleasant, she sounded bothered everytime and she would keep saying the issue I had had nothing to do with the springs they installed even though it clearly was. A-1 Door is a wonderful company to deal with. We got a bid from another company that tried to up-sale us in a couple ways: first they tried to sell us way more R-factor than we needed, since our garage wasn't insulated anyways, second they tried to sell us a garage door opener that was way over priced and didn't come with battery back-up (battery back-up was another $200 per door). A-1 Door went out of their way to make sure we didn't spend any more money than we needed. In the end A-1 door saved us a minimum of $1200 and possibly $1800, had we not done our research.
