Horrible customer service. Terrible communication. They installed my fence and it took them a week. I understood my land was a little tough and only one guy was experienced in doing it, but instead of communicating what was going I had to call them to get answers. 3 months later my gate came right off the hinges from some wind we had and its been over a week and they won't call me back. From a price standpoint, choosing this company over another was a pretty simple decision. After a storm knocked over about 100 feet of aging wood fence along one side of my property, I called in four different companies for estimates on replacing it. A-1 was the cheapest of the four, about $200 cheaper than the next one up, and a full $1200 cheaper than the highest estimate. There was a wait, I don't know if it was the recent hurricane or what, but they were booked three weeks out. When the installers came, they were friendly and efficient, got the job done in a very reasonable time, carted off all of the debris from the old fence for me. It always hurts having to do the expensive repairs; I'm going to be recovering from this one for a while. But if it has to be done, at least you can make the actual process as painless as possible. read more

Our fence is less than 1 year old. This company has given us issues from day one. They weren't able to install the fencing in one day, so one day job ended up being a two day job. The second day that they came back they forgot to bring the latches for the gate so our gate was unable to be latched correctly. One week later that latch was pulled out and stripped the holes so that new screws cannot hold on the latch. They came and repaired the latch after two weeks of calling them. However, they did a poor job and drilled more holes into our new fence. We requested a second latch to be installed, and they never responded to us. Our salesman said they over book the laborers and were short staffed. Over the weekend with the rain and wind storm that we had, the latch was again stripped out and our gates flew open and ended up cracking the actual fence door because they were banging up against each other, and now they're claiming our lifetime warranty and 1 year labor warranty isn't covered. They claim that their warranty does not cover wind related issues, but if they had brought us the second latch and reinforced the original latch as we requested we feel like our gates would have never have been so easily pushed open by the wind and damaged. We paid $5000 for a flimsy fence. I would not recommend working with this company. read more

No communication with the customer, no show on schedule work day (twice!) and I'm still waiting for them to give a real date when the technician is available... could be 1 week, 1 month or 3? Payment has been done a month ago. I just hope I don't keep losing possible house buyers because of them. I need my gate repaired. read more

A-1 Fence blew me off several times. I took my time and arranged my schedule to meet with Tony. He said that what I needed done was a small job, probably too small but he would check with his boss to see if it could be done. That was fine. However, Tony told me he would call that afternoon... No call. I called him the next day and he promised he would get back to me again in the afternoon... No call... Five days later, I'm not holding my breath. I appreciate him coming over to give me a quote - and I understand if the job is too small to make it worth their while - but don't make me WASTE MY TIME chasing you down for nothing. This fence company took forever to install an overpriced fence. Once they finally showed up after giving a pathetic excuse of several weeks wait that it had been raining the "boss", who just stood there watching the underpaid guys do all the work, took my check and didn't say thanks or have a nice day...just walked away without a word like a true jerk. Then I did a load of laundry and found they had punctured the drainage pipe to the washer. After calling three times over three months the same jerk manager called back and said "We're not responsible...if we had seen we had done the damage when we were there we'd help you". What a load of bull. Do not do business with these second rate jerks. read more

I DO NOT again DO NOT recommend A1 Fencing (John) to anyone. I as a business owner, had the most difficult time with A1 fencing. The biggest headache and frustration working with him. His 3rd party contractor were nice and did good work. First of all, it took 2 months to install fencing after being told it will take less than a week. I was on a deadline because the city was going to pay $5000 for my fence and I pay the rest. Long story short, I was not able to get the $5000 from the city cause JOHN took 2 whole months to get everything installed. John gave all the excuses in the book to stall, including the city had some kind of hold on the permitting. When I called the city, they told me no one stopped by to get a fence permit, and there was no hold of such on the property. Then I told him there was no hold and he started arguing with me saying there was a hold. ALSO he installed the wrong latch (smaller size latch) for my PVC fencing and now I cant even lock it from the outside. He told me he would change it out for me after arguing that that is the correct one, showing him my neighbors latch (SAME PVC FENCING) he finally tells me he will change it out for me. This was back in 4 or 5 months ago. STILL till this day, it has not been changed out. BEWARE!!!!!! I WOULD NEVER EVER TREAT ANY OF MY CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS. read more
