A-One is the BOMB! I brought this skilled craftsman a 60+ year old Cutco knife with a LOT of sentimentality, as it had been in my husband's family for decades. It used to be a serrated knife, but grandma sharpened it herself for years until there were no longer any serrations. Cutco wanted to replace it, but we wanted to keep grandma's knife alive. A-1 leveled and sharpened the blade so it cuts amazingly even without serrations. A-One also sharpened several of grandma's vintage Japanese cleavers sharp enough to mince paper. So after reading nothing but stellar 5 star reviews about how Steve owned a great sharpening and repair business I decided that I would bring in 3 of my nice expensive pocket knives to be sharpened. Now my knives still cut through paper but needed a little touch up to make them glide through paper. He ended up removing way too much material from all of my knives. Didnt take the time and care that I would expect from a "Professional". He ruined 3 of my favorite pocket knives, each of which cost upwards of $260.00. Not happy at all. I would come here if you have super dull cheap knives that you don't care about here. Pros- Cheap Fast Sharp Cons- Uses power polishing wheel removing way too much material. I've been going to A-1 Sharpening for decades with my horse clippers and he does excellent work. Sharpening, cord repair, you name it. I never considered taking my sewing scissors to him before because my experienced sewing friends said to only have a "sewing" guy sharpen them. Our scissors are expensive! So, I had them sharpened at the truck that used to come to Hancock Fabrics years ago, they've never been sharpened before but still cut great, and lo and behold he ruined them!! OMG!!! Are you kidding me!!!! All this time I couldn't bare to throw them away or take them anywhere else. I mean at least 5 years have passed. I finally decide to take them to A-1, and I tell him my horror story with the scissors. I need to be able to cut t-shirts, jeans, silk, and they have to work and they don't, they skip, it's awful. I have to tell you I am so overjoyed right now I almost can't stand it. They cut like butter and are effortless!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! read more

So pleased that I found A-1. Brought my knives in..he did one right away so I'd have it that evening and the rest were done the next day. Fast, reasonable, great service! When I returned I brought a sterling silver spoon that had a run in with the garbage disposal and asked Steve if he could make it "not sharp." Steve, Thanks for the great turnaround time on my slicer blade. It works better than when it was new! I shave my head almost 3x a week w/ a quality clipper (Oster Model 76, ones barbers use). I have to keep them nice and sharp. It has gone dull and I was looking all over for a place to sharpen them with. I called this place and Steve, who is the owner I believe, said just bring it in and he'll take care of it. The blade piece have broken off but I brought it to him anyways. Upon arrival, very friendly guy, looked like he was pretty busy, but was attentive once I came in. I told him about the broken piece, he took a quick look at it, took something apart. Bottom line, he knew what he was doing. he saw a broken piece there and said he can replace that no problem. It took him no less than 30 minutes to sharpen my blade. He returned my clippers like as if it was brand new. Cost...$7 plus tax which came out about $9. I had to test it out and holy cow, just one time going over my head and done. Loved the quality and fast service, loved the workmanship. This guy is the only one in town you should go to for anything that needs sharpening such as knives, clippers, lawnmower blade, axe, whatever needs sharpening. Although I don't recommend pencils lol I will definitely be back. read more

These guys will fix any of your broken grooming equipment or sharpen your stuff at a very affordable price! They also sell some shampoos and other kinds of grooming equipment. Making it easier to get your hands on stuff rather than going online and paying shipping and waiting for it to come in the mail. I have been in the business of dog grooming for over 10 years and I will always trust my equipment with Steve and Bob. Always comes back clean and sharp! As if I just purchased it brand new! Even if your blow dryers or cage dryers break down they can fix that too. They're both very handy. If you have yard equipment or kitchen cutlery they fix that too. If you blenders fuse blows out, don't buy a new one! Bring it in to these guys! If your lawn mower isn't cutting right they can fix it! I had 6 knives my wife asked me to get sharpened and I went by A-1 at 9:30 in the morning. Steve asked me if we had other knives to get by tonight. I told him we could get by, but because of where we live it would be convenient for me to pick them up this afternoon. He said to call him and he would try to get them done. I called him at 4:05 and Steve said come on by. Super service and 6 knives for $31.00. Very reasonable. Highly recommended for any of your sharpening needs. read more

Friendly and helpful, got my kitchen knife sharpened in like five minutes for five bucks. I believe there's a 5 dollar minimum for card. I came by on a Saturday during the hours posted on Yelp and their front door but it was locked, so I suggest you call ahead. The second time I came by was in the morning on a weekday. My knife is now so sharp I have cut myself multiple times since I'm not used to it. Clearly I need some knife skills. read more

Small shop, little difficult to find but terrific people and terrific service. Dropped off my kitchen knives, leaving them in the block, offered me same day service (which I didnt need). My knives are 15+ years old and have never been sharpened. I am amazed how sharp they are now, much better than new! read more

In addition, they completely repaired the heirloom knife by not only sharpening it, but affixed the handles to the tang properly! I dropped a really expensive Ken Onion Shun 10" Chefs knife and broke a good 1/4" off of the tip. I brought it in and within 5 minutes I couldn't even tell. He was able to grind down the tip to a point again, shined it up and it looked like it was made that way. I was floored. Best $5 I've ever spent. read more
