I bring my daughter with me to recycle, and her favorite part is getting a $2 bill when we cash in our recycling ticket (she has a good collection of them now, and come to think of it, we've gotten all of them from A-1 Upland Recycling). I can't say the workers here are "friendly", but I can say they are hard working. I mean, how friendly or chatty can you be with customers when you've got machinery crushing, scraping, banging, clanging and such while you're trying to do your job? To start off, it's a recycling center, not a drive-in movie theatre. Having said that, this place is clean! No, seriously, it's über clean! The center has all the recycling bins lined up in an orderly fashion adjacent to the parking stalls so they are conveniently within reach when you arrive. The bins have been weighed and pre-labeled for reading accuracy when recycling. Those ugly umbrellas you see in the photo provide phenom shade from the SoCal sun and the center even has a misting system that is on during Cali's 9 months of summer heat. The staff is quick and efficient, which is great when there are long lines and it's hot out. After weighing your various recyclables, you take your ticket to the check-out counter where you will need Photo Identification to collect your cash. First time here. One of the very few places open on Sunday I arrived around 9:30am on a Sunday. There wasn't too many people and plenty of parking. I was able to get containers to separate my items easily. Once I arrived at the weight I had some questions about recycling milk plastic bottles. Been here twice now and this is by far, the fastest and easiest recycling center. The one I used to go to was closed down and I had to find another center. The first time I went they gave me a coupon for being my first time and the second I had my own. I used to hate going to recycling but I don't mind it at all now. There isn't entirely too much to say. My trip was incredibly easy and quick. There was a bit of a funk in the air but I have never been to a recycling center that smelled good. There's a concern for lack of parking, I went right before work and it certainly wasn't busy but I had my choice of two parking spots. Is there a peak time for recycling centers? If there was I'd put money down that parking is an issue. I think the price is fair. It's at least better than the one I normally go to but I'm just some scrub who has exactly zero idea as to what the price of aluminum is or what really is fair. The absolute most unprofessional Co. ever. 5 to 6 cars waiting. One gate open to the establishment. They say they open at 9 on Sundays. At 9:30 an employee closes the open gate that says closed on Sundays. I wasted a half hour of my day due to complete incompetence. Not one employee saw the cars waiting in the street? March 14, 2018 The Latina in the cashiers booth cheated me for sure. When I walked up I handed her a coupon and I asked her if she would honor my coupon for $2 per lb of aluminum , and she said give it to the guy outside. Then I tried to give her my ID and she was yelling at me through the coin tray " I don't want an ID !! It Has To Be $100 Or More!! " Oh , okay so - I put my ID back in my wallet and said to her , it's going to be over $100. A few minutes later she gets out of her booth and was looking at all the recycle I had , several baskets lined up - then started talking to the guy outside in Spanish as he was weighing the cans. She was all in a huff standing like a tough woman with an attitude - she asked for the coupon I gave him then shrugged , twisted her lip to made an ugly face before she said something in Spanish to the guy - keeping her voice down - and it didn't sound good - then stuck it bank in the guys hand and marched back to her both. A few minutes later, I went back to the booth and handed her my ID again when she said " You have too much aluminum , and too much plastic - we can only take 100lbs of each per day. " She had me sign the receipt , and then kept it - she passed out the window $216 and change. So it looks like they never honored the coupon because that would have been $200 back , just for the cans , I also had 100lbs in plastic and it should have been much more. Since I never got my receipt back I wonder if she pocketed a few 20's for herself. I feel like I got shorted , and she was being rude and yelling at me through the window. I've been coming here for several years now but it's time to move on. I'm never going back again.. There are other recycle places in the area that I'm sure, are more honest and have better service. read more
