He quoted over email. He informed me he would have a plumber out to me - I took the morning off work - the plumber never arrived I rang him and informed him plumber had not arrived - he told me he had not put the job in the system so he would need to come out another day - again I had to chase him as plumber did not arrive at the newly scheduled time. Plumber eventually came and he disconnected the gas but did not provide me with a conformance cert. I told him he needed to provide me with a conformance cert - he argued with me but eventually acceded and I paid him. A few weeks later I tried to turn on my living room fire, I could not, I informed Con that his plumber disconnected gas to living room and below is the email thread that ensued: Gavin There was no gas supply to the fire present. I suspect it may have been disconnect at some other time. Con That's not true Con - I had the fire on when I moved into the house Gavin When I initially called you requested that the gas supply to the kitchen be disconnected. I told you that the best was to do this was to disconnect the old GB pipe and run a new supply to the boiler. This you agreed to. You never mentioned that there was a gas fire nor was there a gas supply taken from the garage for a fire. I explained what we were going to do which you were aware of and agreeable to. Con Con, you are the expert not me - you came onsite to do the site survey. So I'm not really sure what your argument here is exactly. Gavin Gavin No survey was carried out. Pulling out a bathroom and putting a whole new one in is expensive and pretty messy. What if you could have the same effect but for waaaay less hassle and money? Chris comes in, re-grouts the place and does whatever is necessary 'cosmetically' so it actually looks brand new shampoo. I was moving out of my rented place at the weekend and had to get a sink replaced (the tap fell off and cracked the bowl in a bizarre poltergeist-like move). Chris was in and out in a couple of hours, after replacing the sink, and re-grouting the area all around it. It looked absolutely perfect, and is a testament to his work style - he seems to be a perfectionist and will go above and beyond to make sure the place is gleaming before he leaves. He hit on a few plumbing problems when he was in the middle of the job that he also took care of, swiftly and easily. What I liked most about him though was that he was honest about the work that needed to be done, not pushy at all, and definitely great value - not out to rip anyone off. All in all a brilliant idea and service. Just wish I'd thought of it! Back to the drawing board so...!

I had never heard of this place until after 3 months of me not getting the baskety thingy that fits…read moreover the gas boiler pipe whatsit (forgive me if I'm getting too technical), wife finally got annoyed and found the shop on the net. She gave them a call, got a price for the thingy and then sent me packing with a slip of paper with the details of the bit we need. I promptly lost the bit of paper. So, on I went in and told the guy what I need ... his response was not to laugh me out of the shop, he just smiled and said "ah, the thing that looks like a chip basket... no problem". Utterly brilliant, a specialised shop (plumbing supplies), with staff who are used to dealing with non specialised / normal members of the public; a genuinely rare thing and brilliant to find.
