While Bruce Chan originally handled the file, it was handed off to Joann (who is not a licensed CPA) without a proper transition. This led to staggering negligence and hostility. Joann was incredibly unprofessional, repeatedly yelling at my fiancé over the phone. Most appallingly, when I called to provide information regarding my own taxes, she was extremely rude and hung up the phone on me before I could even ask a follow-up question. No "professional" should ever treat a paying client with such blatant disrespect. The lack of accountability here is stunning. On March 19th, after my fiancé waited over 10 hours for a callback, Bruce finally called at 7:15 PM and was extremely hostile. He actually claimed he was "losing money" on our case--after already accepting our $800 plus payment! He also admitted that Joann is not a CPA, yet she is the one handling sensitive IRS matters and being verbally abusive to clients. Furthermore, they were completely unhelpful in resolving document discrepancies. Rather than professionally guiding us through the IRS requirements, they were dismissive and "dragged their feet," forcing us to handle the IRS response ourselves to meet the March 27th deadline. As a result, in July 2024 NYS disallowed the credit and placed me in collections. I have since met with you five times in your Jefferson Valley office. Each time you acknowledged the issue, but no corrective action was taken. Because of this, I now owe $490 in tax, penalties, and interest--a liability created solely by your inaction. R&G Brenner's own RGB Shield Accuracy Protection Guarantee states: "If you ever receive a letter from a taxing authority disputing a tax position, we'll help you rectify it. And if you are charged any penalties or interest as a result of an error we made, you're covered up to $2,000." My situation clearly falls within this guarantee: * I hired R&G Brenner for a paid, current-year return. * Your error caused the liability. * The amount owed ($490) is well under the $2,000 coverage. I am demanding that R&G Brenner immediately: 1. Assume responsibility for the $490 liability. 2. Submit a corrected filing to NYS to resolve the matter. 3. Provide written confirmation within 10 business days. If this is not resolved, I will escalate to the NYS Attorney General, Division of Consumer Protection, IRS Office of Professional Responsibility, and Westchester County Consumer Protection, and I am prepared to pursue civil action. This is how a simple transaction has been addressed.

We felt like our requests were not being respected and we were pressured to file one way because the preparer didn't want to spend more time figuring out the numbers for both married filing single and married filing separate. He literally sighed and said "thats going to take a loong time" and then proceeded to still not do what we asked, despite us asking multiple times. Spoke with Dan the second time and he was able to check both amounts within MINUTES with a click of a button. Customer service reached out and assured me that my amendment would be taken care of. However, when I went again in April (to a different location) the way that the first preparer did our taxes, it was NOT able to be amended. This mistake will cost me an extra $6,000 next year, which we cannot afford, on top of the $365 I paid to get my taxes done incorrectly (which I requested to have refunded due to HIS mistake and was denied), AND we got back $4-500 less than we would've gotten if he had done what I asked. I do not recommend getting your taxes done here. My husband could have done our taxes himself on TurboTax for 1/3 of the price, and saved $6k.
