Our back yard does not get enough sun to support Bermuda grass, and the lawn was suffering as a…read moreresult. There were areas that were starting to erode. We checked with a few different landscaping companies. Hearn seemed to offer the best overall package of design/layout and work, and their pricing was reasonable. We started working with them (getting estimates and a plan) around mid-August and got onto their schedule for early October. We had to arrange for a separate company to update and re-arrange some of the lawn's sprinkler system before Hearn could do their work. Once that was complete (in September), Hearn came out shortly afterwards. They performed all the work in about 3.5 days. This included scraping our back yard and about 1/3 of our front yard, delivering mulch and river rock for some areas, extending drain pipes in 3 spots, laying Zoisa sod in the scraped and graded areas, and then adding some decorative planting in one area. I delayed doing a review until we had a chance to see the sod grown in and actually become a lawn, as opposed to pieces of sod. That has occurred as we move into the middle of summer, so I am more confident in rating Hearn's work. Overall, we are quite satisfied and would work with them again. They provided a plan and then worked to that plan. There were no surprises later.

If you pay to have your property graded, seeded and strayed and instead they have a hill draining over your retaining wall and into the same slate chips you paid them to install, call A Abby. If you want a pond in your slate chips because they did not properly grade the area, call A Abby. If you want a drain installed to drain the aforementioned pond, and the install is going uphill, call A Abby. If you want seed and straw put over rocks that were supposed to be removed, call A Abby. Me, I am going to have to call any landscaper but A Abby to fix their mess.

Where something had it and shattered. I called Kornell and informed him on what happened. I even texted him a picture. There was absolutely no communication from him. Also, the irrigation company came out about an hour ago and come to find out that I had a broken head again, where they damaged. So now I got a broken window and a busted sprinkler head that has to be replaced due to their incompetence. And make it so bad I was paying him an extra $25 every two weeks for them to walk my front yard to make sure that there were no sprinkler heads sticking up b4 they start cutting. The last cut, 17Jul, no one from the crew walked the front yard. I was watching them from a far. Now he has completely ghosted me. I texted him to inform that I will NO LONGER be using them at this address. $370. (Window) & $80. (Sprinkle head) later.

He takes care of the routine mowing, edging and clean up on a 10-14 day rotation. In 2020, we changed out all the shrubs that had outgrown their place close to our home. Kornell was most helpful with picking out plants that were best suited for the space, pointing out the duration of sun in a particular place, potential growth of plants, all the things the majority of people don't think about. A few plants had to be relocated to another place on the property, he was happy to move them. This spring we wanted a portion of our front lawn resodded, of course we called Southside Lawn for the job. Our lawn looks amazing! Kornell is flexible to work with and helpful with all things lawn related. 15 very satisfied years of lawn care service!!

2/5 stars 3 Climbers Tree Service did solid work on the…read moreactual grading and sod laying. The yard leveling looked great and the sod was laid well. That's where the good part ends. After the sod was down, no one told us how to care for it, no watering schedule, no feeding instructions. We also had to ask them to return to trim the sod back from where it was laid up onto the tree trunks which still has not been done. The bigger issue was a fencing job we'd discussed as follow-up work. Communication basically stopped for weeks. I told them 3-4 separate times to just order the fence, and it kept getting drawn out with no clear reason why. Never got a real update without chasing them down. Good crew for the hands-on landscaping work, but the follow-through and communication need serious improvement before I'd hire them again or recommend them for anything beyond a single, self-contained job. Honestly, if not for the crew's work ethic on the actual labor, this review would have scored much lower.
