You know who you can call when you're in need of a vendor who's listed in the C&C list of insured vendors if you're holding an event at a park? A & B Party Rentals. They flew in like Superman to save the day (family reunion). Last Friday, C&C finally called me to go over my permit. The original party rental company were not listed with the C&C as an insured vendor. Talk about almost having a panic attack. After talking with the office personnel that I'll call them back after checking with the original company who did not answer, I looked up via Yelp who were reliable party rental companies. A & B Party Rentals was the top of the list AND they are located in Kapolei. I contacted them and first thing I asked...are they listed on the C&C list of insured vendors. They said yes. They were also available for the date of my event. PERFECT. I chose my package and paid in full instead of a deposit because they saved my sanity. The day prior to the event, they called to confirm as well as find out what time I would be at the park because there is a two hour window of when they would arrive depending on the time I indicated I would be at the park. On the day of, they showed up within the hour and set up quickly and efficiently. Friendly young guys who had a good system of working together. Our breakdown was scheduled for 5:00pm but my family were having too much fun, that I contacted A & B party rentals to see if I could extend to 6:00pm. They were accommodating and said yes. The breakdown was just as fast by the same team that my husband and I chose to tip them again. At the end of the event, I had to breathe a sigh of relief that everything went as smooth as possible. The tent (20x40) accommodated my entire family of 60+. The picnic tables I requested were sturdy and easy to set up (NOTE: If you choose this table option, the table set up is on you.) The pick up and delivery people are very friendly and amazing. What isn't amazing is the lack of communication between the number that they say to call with absolutely any questions or issues. Pick up window was 5-7. From about 6 all the way to 7, called about a dozen times and left voice mails explaining the situation. Wasn't until 7:02 did we get a text saying that the driver would be there in 15 minutes. When we pointed out that earlier communication would have been better so we as customers know what to expect since it's not going to meet the 5-7 pick up window, got hit with a sorry that they are running a little behind from Aaron. Would be 2 for the management but due to the workers themselves, 3. Update: These text messages were sent minutes after the initial review was posted. We are not being hostile or asking for anything in return but communication between a customer and a "business". The main problem in all of this is that when we tried to contact them closer to 7, to make sure we weren't going to be left sitting in the dark with everything being ready to go for the past two hours but absolutely no communication until 7:02. I came across A &B party rentals. They had great reviews on there so I decided to go with them. And bonus, they had a Paw Patrol bounce house. They were quick to send the information when we booked. And they even called the day before the party to go over the details. It was nice because they have a window of when they would set up and take down so we were ready for them. The set up was quick and easy and we had no problems with the bounce house the whole day. The kids had a lot of fun bouncing in it. We had to put our bounce house on the concrete because we don't have a yard, but they were able to accommodate by putting weights on the ends of the bounce house. We held a baby shower for our daughter (our first grandbaby!) at Ala Moana Beach Park. To get to the venue site, one had to go around the concession stand and the restrooms. We had to make a few trips from car to site to get our supplies and food there, I wasn't sure how A&B would do it. These guys are pros at it! They got all the tent and tables to the site with some muscle, sweat and patience! Not only did they get the 20x30' tent, 9 picnic tables and 2 8-foot tables to the site and set up in less than 30 minutes, they were friendly and courteous! We've used A&B in the past and will continue to use them in the future! If you ask why only 4-stars, the shower started at 10:00 and set up was completed at 10:00. However, the contract stipulates that delivery and set up is within 2-hours of event starting time. No matters, though - our guests didn't begin arriving until 10:30... read more

My husband and I had our Laotian wedding this past weekend. We have been planning this event for months out. Planning a wedding and reaching out to vendors and following up for quotes can be a pain in the you know what. But... The bouncy house castle is huge and the kids loved it! The $180 little bounce house that the neighborhood kids usually play in does not even compare. This was a special occasion. We had some concerns with a late delivery and the generator was glitchy but the company refunded the full amount and the owner personally apologized. I understand that there could be mechanical hiccups on equipment and we restarted the generator. Fortunately no one got hurt and the castle re-inflated and the party went on. The owner assured me that they were addressing it with the team and offering additional training. When booking, I would ask about whether or not they have travel and set up time scheduled into the day and maybe schedule the delivery time a half hour before you need it, just in case. Things always happen. You'll also want to to be sure someone from your group is available to stick around until the team comes back to pick up the equipment because it may take a little bit. read more

Very minor miscommunication in regard to precise drop off time but drop off crew came within the expected timeframe. We weren't too concerned as long as the bouncehouse arrived before the party. My daughter was extremely pleased and able to have so much fun with her cousins and friends. So I truly can't complain. Pick up time was prompt and the vendors were friendly. I would definitely recommend. Rates were perfect. We added a generator to our package due to being at the park and the generator lasted all day. If you're getting a water slide I definitely recommend ones with the stairs on the side rather than the back. Side stairs keep the water and sliders contained and reduce the mud and grass damage. Also, the slide with the wall in front of the pool helps keep water from splashing out. Super easy to work with, they accommodated my last minute reservation and are one of the more affordable inflatable rental companies on the island. I ordered the dolphin rainbow water slide and was very pleased with it. Equipment was clean, set up was fast and easy, crew was really nice. Only reason for the 4-star instead of 5 is that they were pretty late to pick up the slide. They were booked up that day and fighting traffic so I understand. I did refer them to a friend who booked a water slide for her sons birthday party and they were on time for both set up and breakdown. A&B was easy to book our party with for my daughter's graduation. Their prices were competitive. They arrived on time to set up and did a nice job preparing the bounce house. We asked them to set up in a specific location and they said that they normally set it up in an alternate location at our community party location. We went with their recommended location. The property manager informed us the bounce house could not be set up where they recommended so we had to have them return to move the bounce house. They charged us a surcharge of $161.78 to come back and move the bounce house to the original location we requested. They told us if we didn't pay the surcharge, they were going to remove the bounce house from the party. I wouldn't rent from them again. I rented the Blue Wave water slide from these guys and was highly satisfied with everything, from the way they handled my order to the delivery and setup/pick-up. The slide was really clean too. Horrible communication and service. Could not contact company on the day of my party. Delivery time was between 1300-1500, delivery came at 1510 (only 10 minutes, ok) but upon arrival, drivers stayed in their truck WHILE ALREADY LATE and made us unload and set up everything. Pick up was supposed to be between 1800-2000, however, contract did not state we had to be present for pick up. We texted, took pictures and said we had to leave at 6PM, owner of the company threatened "additional charges" due to contract violation... even though he knew and admitted it wasn't in the contract. Owner then proceeded to state how we, as customers did not have "Aloha" and how he had been in business for 17 years and hated customers who gave him a hard time and to never contact him again. I rented a cotton candy machine, shave ice, popcorn and a projector from these people and I would recommend them to whomever is having a party. The cotton candy machine did not work at my party, but they were very apologetic and gave me money off for that service. The attendant that was handling all the machines made sure that the kids were coming through the line swiftly. Also, I really appreciated the fact they work with you om the hours. They tell you a certain amount for how ever many hours of service, but they accomodate to your needs without really looking to make extra. Customer service was great! The 2 gentlemen who set up our bouncer were very polite & helpful! I rated this company 4 out of 5 stars for one reason only & that is because the plug of the bouncer was very loose & when the children would jump too hard - the bouncer would deflate. My husband booked a package for our daughter's 1st birthday and literally not even 3 minutes later i called saying, "Hi, my husband just paid to reserve one of your packages without consulting with me first and i was wondering if you could help me make some changes." Umm, if theyre so busy within the 3 minute time gap how'd he know which customer i was? Also, with all their rentals it just so happens someone wanted the exact same one we got within the 3 MINUTE timeframe? I asked, "So there's absolutely nothing you're willing to do for a paying customer?" He goes, "YOU KNOW WHAT? I'LL GIVE YOU A FULL REFUND BUT WE'RE PUTTING YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND ON A 'DO-NOT-RENT' LIST". I told him "that's fine" and just left it as it was because i don't EVER plan on using their services again and will warn EVERYONE about their terrible work ethic & customer handling!
