If there were an option for '0' stars I would utilize. Daughter dropped off dress for simple hem/spahgetti strap adjustment.They charged $35 to measure the hem, which I think is high-took appx 5 min. But will acknowledge it is a standard fee. But to charge $105 total for alterations is way beyond excessive. They do not post standard charges for services. Was not a formal dress, simple cotton. When I questioned the fee, the owner- "Mike", was extremely rude. I requested to pick up dress without alteration/paid the $35 for simple hem marking. He was so mad that he removed the marking for hem- which is what I was paying him for. I asked him not to remove the marking and he yelled at me and did anyways. I was paying for the $35 for the marking. DO NOT use this business. They are not trustworthy and NOT service oriented. read more

Took in two pair of pants to have them hemmed. I was told they would be ready within two weeks. When I went in to pick them up, two weeks and 4 days later, the pants still were not ready. I was told to come back the next day and they would be done. I picked them up and then departed on a business trip. While ironing my pants on the trip, I noticed the hem had simply been folded under and stitched. The surged edge of the material is still in tact and untouched. The excess material had not been trimmed and the seam could be seen on the outside of the pants when ironed. I could have hemmed the pants in this fashion myself. I have taken clothes here before and received better quality work than this and service that was on time. Plus, it was not inexpensive to have two pair of pants hemmed (approx. $25 per pair of pants). I will think twice before taking any other items back here for alterations if this is the turnaround and quality of work to be expected for the amount of money paid for this service. read more

I am new to college station and this place came highly recommended so it was very surprising to see the work they did and the experience I had. I forgot the ticket and the lady fussed over 6 times about the ticket being misplaced, that was fine I get it, it seemed excessive but fine. The pants I paid a rush order on I dropped them off Friday to be picked up Monday. I paid $42 for a hemming...which is actually excessive. I requested that they hem the pants instead the ripped the seems and flipped them up 5 inches. left all the extra fabric and the hem itself is uneven. The stitches are already coming up and undone. When I brought the pants back in to show the man and the woman, she snatched the pants from me and the man yelled "what do you want money?" and walked away speaking to his partner under his breath. I wanted the pants done the right way especially for what I paid. No, they can't fix it, they already messed up the pants and were extremely rude about it. I do not recommend anyone get alterations here. read more

Do NOT come here if you care about your belongings. The establishment is almost a joke and their tayloring skills are questionable. I brought in a $700 dress, $160 vest, and $400 pants... the fit on all are RUINED. I would have been better off not coming at all. I absolutely hate the results. The stitching on the vest looks like someone was learning how to sew. On top of all of this it took THREE AND A HALF WEEKS to get my items back. And when I came in on the prorate date the items were not ready... needed an additional 5 days. On top of that she required I had this tiny slip of paper she gave me weeks before... thanks goodness I kept up with it. Outdated and unorganized business. This is a local business and they do quick, good quality work. They accept walk-ins for non bridal gowns. I brought a bridesmaid dress in for a hem trim. They met me quickly at the door and had me try on the dress for proper measurement. The whole process took maybe 15 minutes. I picked up my dress and it's a good job, exactly what I needed. It was a great experience overall. I'm glad to know I have a new local seamstress (instead of driving to Austin for fittings). The only reason I docked a star is because when I received my dress it was poorly hung on the hanger and bunched up, collecting wrinkles. It would be great if they hung it with more care. read more

First of all, note that the hours are not correct online and they can't edit. They close at 6 (not 7PM). My partner and I brought a couple leather vests to have our club's patches sewed on (and a pair of chaps altered), and they are not only stellar in craftmanship but also customer support. We originally came just past 6 thinking we were in time, and found the door locked. We were invited in and allowed to get the process going. They didn't need to do that, but it definitely was well appreciated. The couple did such an excellent job with my vest, my partner had theirs done as well to the same high standard of craftmanship (this time we had it expedited). Friendly, polite, engaging, knowledgeable, and professional. I'm not the type of person who goes out of their way to write reviews, but this couple deserves all the high praise. The owners are such talented individuals who pride themselves in their high quality work. I had such high hopes for A&M Alterations after receiving many recommendations, but ultimately I had a bad experience and am not sure if I will be going back. I brought a bridesmaid dress in to be hemmed and to get the straps taken in 2 weeks prior to the event. They didn't charge me for rush pricing, so I thought everything would be fine. However, when I went to pick up my dress 1 hour before I was leaving town for my event, it was still pinned together and not finished. It was a major inconvenience. The work was done well, but them not having the alterations finished by the time listed on my ticket was very stressful and inconvenient. I was pleased with the work I had done in November - tailoring two sports coats and one suit. Though it was busy, they worked swiftly to measure 4 or 5 customers with multiple pieces. I do not get many items tailored and appreciated their insight as to what adjustments made sense. One of my jackets was a difficult job due to with construction and lining. The owner made a point of highlighting the increased cost for this piece prior ringing up the item. I requested they complete the job within two weeks, and they did (including dry cleaning the suit). With respect to price, I do not have a strong sense of what other tailors in the area charge. Frankly, I think most people commenting on price likely do not have much experience either and are simply surprised it doesn't cost the same as a needle and thread. I've had alterations done at Macy's for slightly less, but the quality was not good. I will return to A&M next time I have need of a tailor. read more
