Over the past 15+ years I have used his…read moreservices consistently and faithfully, as a loyal customer who also readily referred numerous friends, colleagues, and family to Michael Rose, CPA. However, over the past 5-10 years as he has scaled his business, the level of service has declined (first, a few minor mishaps here and there or things overlooked on my tax returns as I dealt with new, my guess, seasonal workers who never really took the time to know me or my finances beyond quick conversations). I saw less and less of him and more of other random employees handling my taxes. (It's fine, I guess. I'm not a millionaire, so perhaps he has bigger clients to tent to?!) His personal touch and friendly face was always a source of comfort during what could be an otherwise stressful time: tax season. The major issue I have -which has led to my final decision to take my business elsewhere- is with the front office staff which was at one time run by nice, friendly women but have now been replaced by Michael's wife "Ledy". She is rude and lacks basic customer service. Most of all, given that a large portion of Mr. Rose's clients are African American, she could use a course on "cultural competency" and learning how to speak to black folks versus talking down to them or like she is above them! I would conjecture that the frequent turnover in office staff is due to her poor management "style" and lack of respect. It's too bad that she has gotten in the way of what was once a wonderful professional relationship. Thanks to her attitude combined with the other personnel changes in the business, I will most definitely not be returning!

But as my salary grew and I bought a home things started to change and so did her knowledge. She kept stating she doesn't lie on taxes which is weird. When I gave her all my paperwork and soon as I started talking about being in a new tax bracket she got jumpy and defensive which was confusing to me. I am not sure if she suggesting I was too young to be making what I make or what. I went home and she emailed me how much I would get back. It was apparent that she did not enter in my information correct. I reached out to her to ask about it calmly and that is when she exploded and sent me a nasty email. I went to her to get my paperwork back and she came out with her hands up and frantically saying she did everything right... It was a very awkward situation.
