The Indian cashier guy is extremely rude. Not just being rude to anybody, but to elderly people which is a big no for a line of work he's in, always got earbuds on too, how do you still have a job with this kinda attitude. He should be placed on shelf duty instead of cashier or cleaning duty since the store is dirty too. Read other one-star reviews; it's always about him. Mum-in-law approved!! When family came into town and wanted to whip up all my husband's favorite Indian dishes from childhood, I took my mother in law for a tour around all the Indian grocery stores I could google. Yes we made multiple stops all over LA to collect all the proper ingredients needed, and A&S was ultimately the clear winner in inventory. Shelves are jammed with Costco-sized spices and grains and desserts and childhood nostalgic snacks. The freezers are filled with every kind of bread you can possibly dream of from chapati to naan to roti to pratha and so on. The produce area is a bit small but had exactly what we needed and was sufficiently fresh. They also had some meats but I didn't peruse that section. Small parking lot in the back has about 5 spots for customers 30 min limit, and the other half is for the Thai restaurant who do monitor it. read more

STAY AWAY! Old ITEMS BEING SOLD! EXPIRED ITEMS! New management is worse than 10 years ago, when the nice Pakistani man would assist and actually sell good/ fresh items! The new owner is condescending and RUDE I bought a bag of Zebra Basmati rice and it was EXPIRED. I cooked with the rice and the smell filled up my entire home- LITERALLY horrendous! When I checked the date I couldn't believe myself! I went to return the rice and the new owner (Shiref 'what he claimed his name was'), literally had the audacity to weigh the bag of rice! As if I'd return rice and steal a few pounds! HORRRRRRRIBLE MOREOVER, he saw the expiration date and claimed it wasn't expired! When I asked to exchange after even more explanation, he agreed but wanted ME to pay an additional dollar for the difference of the other brand! UNBELIEVABLE! I HAVE GONE TO THIS STORE FOR OVER 10 years! How can you cause an inconvenience to me, be absolutely atrocious, and yet furthermore ask ME for MORE MONEY? Well Yelpers, I paid. I paid that EXTRA DOLLAR, and after I paid I let him have an ear full.. because a rude, self-centered, obnoxious, egotistical person such as himself should under no context own a business where hospitality and grace are needed. If you're looking for Indian or Turkish speciality grocery items, cheeses, frozen prepared foods, condiments, teas, and pastes, or casual Coronavirus encounters, go here. While I have been a fan of the curated goods on their shelves, the store is impossibly tight with no cross ventilation or windows. Hence it's an incubator for stale air (and aerosol virus). Add to that, the store clerks frequently allow in muslim men (in flowing robes) who are brazenly in contravention of the posted notice to wear a mask before entering. It is literally shocking to run up against mature, senior males fully unmasked and shopping without being penalized. So, if you want chance encounters of the coronavirus kind, this is a great place. Shame, because the selection of items including favorite south Asian snacks, as well as speciality sauces and cooking acoutrements for the middle eastern palate is really good. read more

Saving you the trip!! This is mostly Indian or Persian food items. There were no east asian items i.e. Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, or Filipino. Do not expect that. Actually, they did have Thai chilis and that was all I saw. They do have a very good selection of those items though if you need that for cooking. read more

He double checked his inventory and called be back immediately to say they were out of stock. He save me a trip that would not have been fruitful at the tune of 6.00 a gallon for gas. What a gem of a place for South Asians! I can find everything here from halal meat to Shan masalas and tea! The place looks like a hole in the wall and has about 4 parking spots in the back. Parking is tight as the lot is very small. However the staff here is very helpful! All the guys always help me find whatever weird spice I am looking for. When I am in this store, my mind wanders back to India. For in this store are many of the foods I had when I was there. Fascinated and spellbound, I am, at times riveted to the unusual nature of their foodstuffs. One of their Indian teas wrapped in pink packaging was actually $2 cheaper than Elat Grocery. They have similar honey jars filled with fruit and nuts that are less expensive too. They have many prepared/frozen Indian products that I can hardly wait to try out. Breads such as paratha, roti and naan pizzas. They carry a limited selection of American products. One time I got baking soda. It was $1 more here in in the usual supermarket. the Indian guy that works here is overly rude , he does not know how to speak to customers. he has an attitude every single day of the week. This place is amazing! Walking down the grocery aisles is arguably like taking a trip around the world, but in a mere fraction of the time! It has delicacies from all over the planet, including India, Tunisia, UK, Turkey...and the list extends far and wide. They have fresh Halal meats, including yummy lamb merguez sausage, a North African delight! They have a good selection of exotic fruits and vegetables and prices are incredibly fair and reasonable. Its made by Full Moon Baking Co. and you can pick small assortments or get a tray of this nirvana-in-phyllo-dough. Don't want this temptation sitting around your casita? Most days they sell pieces individually by the register. I also pick up inexpensive, delicious pita bread here and tahini. In a moment of curiosity, I bought hummus-in-a-can, I do not recc. They carry halal meat and there's a small butcher section in the back of the store. Vegetarians beware: its all displayed in a big glass case, no styrafoam trays here so circumvent that area if you don't wanna see that mess. This little market is owned by a Pakistani family but literally a "Turk bakkal" The variety of the food and drinks they have in here is unbelievably amazing. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because they don't carry my son's favorite snack; Findikli Eti Hosbes (hazelnut wafers) They have all the other flavors but not hazelnut. They carry Ulker and Halk brand hazelnut wafers but he doesn't like them, sigh.. read more

I have been coming to this place for years. It is the closest market in the area that has Turkish food. Their Turkish cheese, olives, pickles, snacks, and some of the Turkish frozen pastries are good. They have a butcher section in the back and the meat is always very fresh. Their produce can be better. It always looks dry and too ripe. Overall, I feel like it could be a cleaner market. There is always dust on top of the items on shelves. But since it is the only closest market that has Turkish food, I find myself coming back to it often. Also, I wish they would have a deli section where the meats are, and have fresh pastirma (ojanyan) ready to cut and sell. The ones prepackaged behind the glass refrigerators is not the best. read more

This store is excellent. I've been able to find Turkish products here that I couldn't find at some of the much larger international grocery stores in Los Angeles. They also sell a great selection of Pakistani products and the spices are dirt cheap. Seriously, $1.99 for a huge bottle of mint leaves?! Overall prices are reasonable and the staff are very helpful in suggesting what brands are better than others, etc. The only downside is that street parking can be sparse and the back parking lot is very small but I've always been able to find a spot in the lot if I go after 8pm on a weeknight. The store itself is small and cramped - made me feel like I was abroad again. read more

If you are Turkish (like me), and looking for a local market that carries lots of Turkish groceries, this is the place for you. Half of the store is dedicated to Turkish groceries while the other half is dedicated to Indian/Pakistani groceries. I love Indian food as well so I picked up some of my favorite Indian groceries (parathas, basmati kheer mix) while I was at it. I was very happy to pick up yufka, eski kasar, Ulker tea biscuits, visne receli, and mild sucuk for dinner tonight. Prices are inexpensive and I left with 5 bags of goodies for ~$60. read more

I buy my daily products from Trader Jones : organic and fresh and cheap. For my regional traditional cousine I go for this store. I am Turkish and I love cooking. This store has a lot of Turkish brand products and helal meat. At least two times a month I go there. Stuff is very friendly. They have very delicious Turkish cheese and Turkish tomato paste, baklava, lahmacun, ayran ( yogurt drink) , turkish delight..... For the ramadan I was there every week. They also have Arabic products I guess or Indian .... I think price range is not too high. Even it was expensive I would still buy because I am addicted to Turkish cheese and for some products I can only find them in that store. read more
