Love this place. Sad that the bakery is still under construction. I wanted to have some tea drinks. People here are still sweet and trying to cope with the recent tragedies. I'm sure it has been a challenge. They are doing a great job on keeping the store stocked and well-organized. Great variety of products. You may have to get out your translator on some of the packaging. Nice feeling of comfort. Visit the upstairs to get more of the Asian experience of food and culture. My first impression was "wow, so clean!" This 99 ranch location is the cleanest branch store I've stepped in. I was in awe of its immaculate organization and the sashimi/sushi section where workers assembled sashimi on spot. Just as I pondered if I were in food heaven, revelation hit and brought me back to banality. At the juice section, my spidey sense told me we were stalked by an Asian mid-aged female employee (or supervisor) with impeccable make-up on her rigid face. She followed us around and made me feel uncomfortable. I figured out later due to its imprudent store layout which had Fresh Produce section right next to exit and on the opposite side of check out, they suspect every customer of shoplifting. Imagine discomfort and anxiousness merely being there. There were a few securities there construing the above-said shenanigans. Exactly who likes to be followed or policed while shopping? This was my first time going to 99 Ranch Market and my expectations were super high since I love to shop at Asian Markets. Bakersfield needs a 99 Ranch Market then I wouldn't have to travel approximately 2hrs just to visit this place. I haven't been to other 99 Ranch Markets, but my expectations were super high since at this point I've been to Tokyo Central, HMart, and Seafood City and I feel like 99 Ranch Market was just an okay experience for me. The store has a variety of Asian supplies, food items and lots of Asian products, but I feel like I found more variety at the other places. I definitely want to visit another location to see if it's just this one, but it's super overpopulated and there's no where to park unless the locals can give us some tips. The place is not hard to find, but the outside parking is metered so good luck if you want to get lost inside. I don't know if I would go out of my way to visit this one again, but if I was in the neighborhood then I would love to come by again and pick up my essentials. read more

Apparently they don't give coupons for the deli/bakery at this location. Chocolate flower: 5/5 so pretty and surprisingly has a crunchy texture. Very very good! Coconut almond: 3/5 just ok Custard bun: 5/5 similar to pineapple bun but without the crust on top. Now parking seems to be unlimited and ticket free. The last two times I've gone over a few months the entrance and exit barriers were up. While you have to carefully drive past a vehicle coming in the opposite direction in the garage, parking is plentiful. The hot deli has improved somewhat. The banana leaf wrapped sticky rice is good and they sell shrimp shumai. Don't like my roasted duck (underseasoned) rice bowl. Was not expecting sour veggies. Are other food court places ever going to open up? The noodle place has a hiring sign but the bar was empty and only the hot deli place is open. read more

Dang, I wish there was a 99 Ranch Market when I was at school here. 99 Ranch took over what I think was a Borders or some other bookstore from years before. They take the entire first floor and part of the second floor. A kawaii goods store and a hot deli food court area (still under renovation for an incoming tenant) occupy the rest of the second floor. I walked here from Westwood so can't comment on the parking situation. I'm very impressed with the variety of products this location has, given there's not enough space for a usual sized 99 Ranch Market. They have the usual things expected from an Asian market as well as some of the trending products found online. Prices were pretty reasonable for a location on the Westside and in a more metropolitan area! Love that the bakery / cafe is right by the street intersection for convenience. The market itself was really clean and organized. I had to head elsewhere afterwards, otherwise I would've picked up some groceries from the freezer and refrigerated sections. Next time! read more

I certainly come to this 99 Ranch location for the convenience. It's in Westwood so super convenient for Ucla students.This grocery store has a good variety of Asian goods. The pricing does feel a little bit higher than compared to the Gardena location, but it makes sense because there's not that many Asian grocery stores in the area. It's kind of like the City Target version of 99 Ranch. There's multiple levels where the top level has hot foods and a bar. It's been a while since they open, but it seems like the other restaurants that were set to open are not operating at full capacity. There's a bakery which I've fully taken advantage. They have fresh juices like watermelon and honeydew, small prepared foods, and fresh Asian baked buns. The security guards are pretty friendly and staff are helpful when trying to locate items. Love that there is very convenient parking. I never struggle to find a parking spot because it's not too busy. read more

On the intercom they announced that the bakery breads in the glass casing is buy one get one free. I went over and the cashiers there told everyone it's buy two get one free. Don't understand why anyone gives this place fewer than 5 stars. It's got free easy parking underground, a wide selection of Asian foods, and an attentive staff. The prices are amazing (black cod $3 a pound?!) and they have a lot of rare things that are simply impossible to find elsewhere. Great sushi section too! read more

Most dishes are gone but we were pleasantly surprised to see a few bento boxes left with roast duck, bbq and Hainanese chicken options (with a side of pickled vegetables and rice at the bottom). My bro in law told me about the 2 story 99 ranch in Westwood so we had to come and take a gander. I have to say it was very very meh compared to the other 99 Ranches in Van Nuys (my tried and true) and SGV. I know Westwood has more limited space and I imagine way pricier leases. BUT I doubt I will ever come here again. Awkward parking situation, wonky store layout, and this is the smallest 99 Ranch I've ever been to - which translates to very very limited selection of goodies I normally pick up. Couldn't find much of what I wanted and what i did get, the prices were higher on each item. I think if I was still in school here, I would be hella happy to have a 99 Ranch close by - but unless I'm a captive audience, I sure wouldn't come to this location as a choice. read more

They are around half the price of baked goods at other bakeries in the area and are larger. Westwood finally got its own 99 Ranch and I feel like I won the Asian grocery lottery. An actual Chinese market within reach--with its own parking lot. In Westwood. That alone deserves five stars. The store itself? Solid. Dumplings, sauces, snacks, produce--basically the essentials for anyone who needs soy sauce in quantities larger than a shot glass. The crowd though... it's hilarious. It's like every shopper is 18-25. UCLA students in pajama pants grabbing hot pot broth like it's finals week fuel. Honestly, I felt like I was intruding on a dorm kitchen run. And the kicker? This shiny little Chinese market is plopped right in the middle of Persian Square. Only in LA do you get saffron ice cream, kabobs, and a 99 Ranch as neighbors. Yay to 99 Ranch opening closer to home! There is tons of underground parking (it's tight though), everything is so well organized and super clean right now, and staff is surprisingly great. At checkout, our lady was so helpful! Even the security guard was friendly. They have some good sales going on, too, plus so many delicious things. This is right by UCLA so prepare for tons of cute, unsullied students on grocery trips. On my most recent trip, a few delicious things I had: Cookie Butter Egg Rolls $3.99 Turtle Corn Soup Chips $4.49 Taipei Sesame Crisps $2.49 Frozen flower pancake on sale for $3.98 (normally $6) Cheese Toast bread $3.99 Enoki Mushrooms 99 cents White Beech Mushrooms 89 cents And the infamous Tik Tok viral Great Forest Propitious Mango ice cream in the shape of a mango, as I got for $13.99 but they also have the OG peach and lemon. Bring your own bags or pay 10 cents for a reusable plastic bag. The food court upstairs has 3 spots open currently with more to come. There is a lot of seating up there and the staff is equally as friendly as in the market. The brewery guy brought us water to our table. We didn't even order from him, what a kind soul! read more

I was so excited to see a 99 Ranch Market in Westwood, but have since been disappointed with this location. First of all, the parking garage situation is quite a pain. While I appreciate free parking (something that has become quite rare), the spots are really tiny. Also, the elevator can only hold a few people and you can't bring any carts down. Inside, it feels very cramped in the store. They also have a limited selection of products compared to other locations. There have been several times that I've come to pick up a specific item, only to find that they don't carry it or are out of stock at this location. Personally, I'd rather wait until I have time to visit a different location. If I'm desperate for some ingredients I might try stopping by here, but I'd rather avoid it if possible. read more

Finally a 99 ranch nearby !! Yipppie ! Such a huge store. Products are a tad bit more expensive than your typical 99 ranch in the sgv area. On the top floor you'll find the alcoholic drinks and the food court. Bathrooms are also available upstairs. Main floor is dedicated to groceries and also has pretty a huge section for beauty products. I spent my most of my time there. They have such a large isle dedicated to kbeauty. We had planned to celebrate Christmas with family in LA since they came home to Hawaii to celebrate Thanksgiving with us. At the time, my eldest brother-in-law mentioned the opening of a new 99 Ranch Market in Westwood that is closer and more convenient to his home and promised to take us here to shop or market. Well, since we are down to our last full day of a two-week vacation in Los Angeles, today was THE day to go there. The new 99 Ranch - Westwood is located at the corner of Westwood Boulevard and Rochester Avenue and officially opened on November 29, 2023. My brother-in-law has visited this location several times since it opened and gave us a rundown of the new market. His descriptions encouraged us to get there early in our vacation, before Christmas Day, but unfortunately, we had other activities. We liked the design or layout of the store where the entrance is opposite from its checkout stands, and there's less chance(s) of customers entering the store to retrieve a grocery cart with those leaving with carts to ever bump into each other. We immediately noticed more variety of Asian food products (fresh and frozen), yet the market is much smaller than other 99 Ranch Markets that we've been into. Also, the food displays appeared more organized and less picked through. Also, there wasn't a butcher on duty, so all meats were cut, packaged, and neatly displayed. However, there was a fishmonger on duty who was friendly and efficient as he scooped out live shellfish from tanks or fresh fish from the display case before weighing and labeling them for purchase. The shelves of dried food ingredients, canned goods, and pre-packaged snacks were colorful, neatly stacked, and clearly marked with product descriptions and prices. There is a bakery/coffee shop at the Rochester Avenue end of the store where many Asian savory or sweet pastries can be found. Maybe because I was chilled for the mid-morning overcast and drizzly weather, I could only think about making meals for hot pot, Korean BBQ, steamed or stir-fried fish dishes, or Chinese meat or seafood casseroles. I look forward to returning to this market and will explore its food court the next time I'm here. read more

Love coming here for Chinese necessities -veggies, noodles, tofu, shrimp and meat. Upstairs is a cooked foods deli with bento bowls ready to go, for $10! And they have cha shu and roasted duck too! They have combo plates too. Very convenient. I wish there were more food places upstairs, they have a wine bar it looks like too. We went at 230pm so not busy yet. read more

No line, and food is premade so it's very practical. Everything here is VERY affordable. $11 for 2 entree and 1 side. My favorite entree here was the orange chicken, juicy and crunchy. A Ranch 99 on the Westside?! Yes, count me in! After much anticipation, this store has finally opened and took over the Ross in Westwood Blvd. Because it used to be a Ross, the layout is a bit strange and confusing. For example, the sliding doors entrance is one way only. You cannot exit through the entrance doors. I had paid and checked out, and wanted to check a price in the produce section which is in front of the entrance, and once the doors close, you can't go back out. You have to walk all the way through the store to the exit. It's kind of like IKEA that you have go through the store in a certain direction. You have to start in the produce section, then the freezer section, and then it opens up to the aisles of dried food. There's a parking garage underneath which is a plus. I believe it validates for 90 minutes, but both times I've been there the parking rail was up and it was free and I didn't need a ticket. The store is well stocked enough with your Asian essentials. I'm happy to not have to drive to Van Nuys to pick up Asian greens now. The service at the self-checkout was friendly. There is also a food court upstairs that I will check out next time. It looks like at the moment there's just a few restaurants open and there are more coming. Also, the liquor and beer is upstairs and is a separate checkout which is a little strange too. Other the layout that takes some getting used to, this will be my go-to Ranch 99 because it's the closest, is clean, has good service and has the Asian essentials. read more

I like some items from the market, especially the exotic fruits and vegetables are quite good and fresh. Many of the packaged foods have toxic chemicals (MSG) and ingredients I would not ingest. We tried half order of duck from the cafe upstairs for $23 and it was mostly fat skin and bones. Very little meat and super oily. Not very tasty at all compared to any restaurant. Like many others on the Westside, I waited for this 99 Ranch's opening for months. And when the opening day finally came, I visited and was so excited to see it bustling. There's a parking garage underground; right now they are making customers park on level P3 and below (it only goes to P4), but the elevator is having many issues. On one of the days I went, I parked on P3 but the elevator up to the market only went as far down as P2. Only one of two elevators seems to work at a time. And there are no stairs as an alternative. This 99 Ranch location is still new and it seems to be working out the kinks. Same thing with the bakery inside. I got a pastry and a coffee, but they completely forgot my coffee order. After 20 minutes of waiting, a fellow customer told me they also forgot her order and the only way to finally get it was to remind the staff. Otherwise, the 99 Ranch supermarket is awesome and it has such a great selection. It's a very big market and there's a nice food court on the top floor, but not all of the vendors are open yet. The Hot Deli was good for essentials like char siu and the Peruvian Japanese sushi place was superb. read more

Woohoo! Welcome to the westside! Went today 11/28 and I guess that's the day before the grand opening. It's located at the old Ross. There's a light at the intersection, so it's easy to get to. The parking was plentiful. The entrance and exit is strange. Luckily, I arrived at a slow time but can only image coming at a rush hour time and honking. The entrance and exit merge to one lane. Once you get up to the lobby, there's the produce side and then the grocery side. I didn't check out the produce side, but from afar, everything looked colorful and fresh. The grocery store had aisles full of Asian snacks, drinks and of course hello kitty toilet paper! As of today, I only saw a seafood counter. The fish looked good. I think it was reasonably priced. There was packaged beef, chicken, and other meats, but I didn't pay too much attention to them. I was looking for the bakery but didn't look too hard. I must've missed it. Was looking forward to some milk bread or some baos. We went upstairs to the food court. So far, there's a hand roll counter and the bbq to go counter. The hand roll counter didn't have a menu out at 11:10 ish so we went to the bbq counter. It reminded me of Panda Express but they had TOFU AND EGGPLANT! The rice and noodles were great bases. I paid $10.99 plus tax for the two item combo. Eggplant reminded me of takeout and the tofu was medium firm and reminded me of sweet chili bottled sauce thinned out. There was the display case of the ducks, a small case for sesame balls, and a bento box to go area ($11-$15). The bentos were rice, veggies, meat. Parking was free today, but they do provide validation with purchase for 90 min. I am excited to return when everything is up and running. read more

I've waited so long with high excitement for this location to open to have access to variety of LIVE SEAFOOD (Live fish) that Chinese markets carry in SanGabriel area. BUT NOPE! This is just a supermarket that carries normal Asian shelf products or produce. Nothing more special than any local Asian markets in LA. They maybe have live lobsters or crabs sometimes. But you can get that anywhere. Very disappointed. I get that this location is close to UCLA and it seems like it's targeted for young students only. read more

This is one of the newer Ranch 99 grocery stores. The layout is weird as it is like a U-shaped store. There is produce on one side and the canned goods on the other side. The selection here is limited. The prices are a bit higher. Upstairs there is a bar (alcohol) area and a food hall.
