I went once for the weekend bbq outside in the back and the cook was putting in new coals for the grill and cleaning out the old ones and so all the ashes blew into the wind and right into my face and he didn't apologize or understand that you probably shouldn't clean this way??? It's not advertised, yet somehow always packed during prime hours--and for very good reason. I know this sounds a little nutty, but this Mediterranean outdoor parking lot grill is off-the-charts outstanding. It's such a fun, delicious experience--like eating truly fabulous street food. The quality is superb. Food immaculate, always fresh, and superb. Here's how it works: you order inside at the cash register, grab your drinks from the refrigerated section of the small market (the black currant soda is the best ever), and do not skip picking up the pre-made tzatziki yogurt-cucumber container from the dairy section. Add it to your plate for the perfect creamy, smoky, pickley flavor combo. Then you take your prepaid ticket outside and hand it to the grill masters. While you're waiting for your meats to grill, some sweet man, comes around and hands out gently salted, crispy fresh Persian cucumber. Perfect palate cleanser and wake-up). Crunch away fellow eaters. Every plate comes with huge portions of grilled veggies (tomatoes, onions, peppers), pickled everything, fresh herbs, and your kebab choice. We went into this market with the intention of grabbing a quick lunch, and while the food took a while to make, it was worth the wait. The beef and chicken kabob plates that we ordered came with much more food than anticipated. We waited over 20 mins but the kabobs were being freshly cooked, so again, worth the wait. It's a grocery store so don't look for ambiance. Very clean, some very fresh produce and some others not so much. People are nice but if you order bbq and kabob make sure to ask for med or med rare otherwise you get something that's hard to impossible to chew. In the past I have gotten much better kabobs there but not anymore. I called to talk to the manager to talk about the issue but the girl over the counter did not put him on the phone. When I complained about the food she didn't bother to apologize or offer any solutions. If I did not live so far away I would just drop off the kabob ( not asking for my money back ) just so they know how bad the meat was. I ordered koobideh, chicken thighs and lamb kabob. Came to a weekend cookout in the back of this Persian grocery store!   A hungry crowd stood around waiting for chargrilled skewers of meat and veggies. There's options of your typical proteins and not-so-typical ones, like kidney, liver, and heart kabobs. Our tray of beef, chicken, and salmon skewers came with whole roasted tomatoes, bell peppers, and bread - super filling for the 3 of us.  The wait can be quite long, so I went inside the store to explore. I come here all the time to get middle eastern staples like sangak and barbari bread, basmati rice, doogh, and yogurt to name a few. The first time I came here the cashier made sure to tell me that the gallon of doogh (yogurt drink) was yogurt and not milk - I don't look middle eastern so good looking out but I told him that I grew up drinking doogh lol. They have a small produce section which I frequent for fresh mint and Persian cucumbers. Prices and quality are great. Ralph's is super close to me but they have awful persian cucumbers so I drive a couple extra minutes to come here. They have a deli and hot food section with a lot of items prepped for to go. I've tried the shole zard (sweet yellow rice pudding) and ash e reshteh (noodle soup) and both were good. I've always heard of the bbq in the parking lot on weekends but never came in on a weekend until recently. I got the mix koobideh which is one skewer of ground chicken kabob and one skewer of ground beef kabob. I was handed a salted persian cucumber to snack on while I wait for the kabobs to be made and it was so refreshing on a hot day. The kabobs came with some sangak bread and a salad/pickled veggies combo. I assumed the order would come with rice but that was my mistake for not clarifying. The kabobs were delish! It was $19 for two kabobs. Plenty of parking out back. Inside is clean and organized. read more

Teran Market hands down is the best market in Santa Monica. Not only do the food they make fresh, delicious but full of high quality ingredients..every bit is savory. These foodie influencers we saw on social media (Alix and Zoya) were hyping up this bread called Sangak so we had to trek it out to Santa Monica only to walk out with way more than what we came for. We accidentally even dropped a jar that broke in the aisle and offered to pay for it but the super sweet worker insisted we didn't have to. Every one was so friendly and warm! The store was so clean. It was actually my first time shopping at a Persian grocery store. We've been to many other ethnic ones and this one was spotless with such a nice selection of intriguing products and fresh goods! One of the men grilling the kebabs in the back even gave us a salted cucumber while waiting for our order. They also hooked us up with a box of pickled veggies and the kebabs were delicious! We parked at the front of the store only to realize there was a bigger lot in the back. Excellent first time experience and we will definitely return. read more

I love this market. I get the dried dates , goji berries, Iranian raisins, and black tea usually. They're the best quality I've seen. The tea is reasonably priced, I love its paper packaging with Perso-Arabic writing (ok I know the tea is from India). I like their diary selection, nuts and tahinis. Can't believe I never reviewed this place. I thought that I had. Big shop with good selection of dry goods, produce, and meat section. The precooked lamb is wonderful! The employees inside the shop are not very friendly but who cares when the food is so fantastic. And anyway the weekend bbq in back is the star of the show! The ppl on the grill seem to be a bit more friendly. Must be the fresh air haha. Omg the kabobs are seriously to die for. I'm dead. Super tender and flavorful beef kabobs. Five stars for the weekend BBQ! On Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30am to 4pm. there's an outdoor bbq in the parking lot in back. You pay inside, get a ticket and hand it to someone at the stand. Their barbecue is very popular, so you'll have to wait at least 20 minutes for your order to be ready. While you wait, you can snack on a salted Persian cucumber. They have several kabobs available, starting at $7.99 for a heart/liver or kidney to up to $23.99 for lamb. There's koobideh, Cornish chicken, too. We got a chicken and a salmon kabob. Their kabobs are long, so there were three chicken thighs and two salmon fillets in the order. You also get grilled tomatoes, bell pepper, pickled veggies, herbs, lavash and sangak. The kabobs are perfectly cooked. I ordered the salmon medium-rare and it was nice and moist and flavorful. I wasn't going to eat all the chicken, but it was so good that I couldn't help myself. It's a lot of food for the money and in retrospect, we probably could have just ordered one kabob and added a side from the deli counter for two people. I have several kabob places that are much closer, but this one was worth going out of my way for! Free parking in the lot and metered street parking. read more

It's nice to have a small grocery store so near by. The prices are very reasonable considering the location. Unfortunately, some of the staff act like something from SNL skit. The staff that stock the isles and work behind the hot/cold counter are friendly. The staff at the register are rude. I waited three years to write this.
