When I started asking if they could suggest any good books on the faith that I might use to learn stories about the Lwa and Orisha's, they were quick to say that if I wanted to learn about that I'd have to go to Haiti. It was a weird experience, and while they were pleasant enough I have to say the place felt like it was intended to market to tourists selling gizmos and gadgets. A disappointing trip overall, but a nice enough shop for supplies.

They come frozen & bundled in twos and are the perfect size, which make them easy for boiling. If you've never had a pastele before, they are sort of similar to a tamale.. except made with masa de yuca instead of corn flour.
