It's been a while since I've trekked down to the basement of Elizabeth Center. They've revamped it so that everything looks nicer now. There's a couple of gift shops that sell a bunch of Sanrio and anime goods (lots of Demon Slayer merch). I shopped at one shop that had fortune cats in their display window. There was a nice selection of cute stationary items, towels, plushies etc. Even Molang themed merch like wallets and stickers! Got the cutest Hello Kitty pens (pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, they have it all!) and Molang stickers! The cashier even gifted me a free ring for my purchase, which was totally unexpected. Next door, there's more anime goods like DBZ, Demon Slayer, and other Sanrio themed goods. Near the register, there's literally a whole wall of Gundam kits too. I'll definitely be back to pick up some more cute stationary! read more

Crystal Love Jewelry store. This is a little store in the Elizabeth Shopping Mall. It's on the first floor, across from the pharmacy. They sell genuine stone, crystal and pearl jewelry. Also some costume jewelry and a large collection of hair accessories. I came in here, looking for an genuine amethyst bracelet for my niece's birthday. Purple being her favorite color. They had a variety of bracelets, nicely designed. Also saw some unusual looking jade pieces. They are having a sale on some items, right now. read more

I'm sure back in its glory day, this place must have been a thriving and popular business place for people to shop at. Came here randomly while wandering around in Chinatown and it was quite... Empty feeling. Most of the remaining shops are located in the bottom floor. However, there are a lot of vacant places that used to be businesses that made the place feel empty and cold. For the remaining shops that are still in business, most of these range from your usual gift / souvenir like shops to anime oriented shops that are ideal for people who are into manga / anime. It doesn't take more than five minutes to walk through the whole place and there wasn't too much to see. My friend who showed me around was surprised at how many businesses were gone since he last visited this place. If you're in a time crunch and want to see something, this is a place that can be skipped in favor of seeing other things in Chinatown. read more

Comic Con is in town this weekend and this only mean one thing... A pilgrimage to the all the Japanese Animation shops. Starting with the craziest and cheapest place I know- Elizabeth Center Cellar (aka ECC) Gift shops. It is located in the heart of Chinatown right next to the 5th Police Precinct. The cellar has a many stores to browse and shop. There are hundreds of different cellphone bling-blings for a couple of dollars. The latest teen trends are down there. Recent stuff I found are Domo gifts, Hello Kitty gifts, that squashed panda plushy in three sizes!, Mario Brothers toys, Kingdom Hearts items and hundreds of things I have NO CLUE about but a tons of fun browsing. read more

I came here to pass time while waiting for Matsunichi to open at 5pm today. Just went to a small gift shop called "Elizabeth Sanrio Hello Kitty Shop" in the basement level of Elizabeth Center Mall. Turn left when you step off the escalator and you'll see it! The aesthetics are amazing in organization and color selections in this tiny shop (there's a lot of pink). My friend ended up buying me a cute puppy plushie that has a clear ID pouch sewn into the belly as a birthday present. The shop owner was patient and nice, as I sorted through and inspected literally all of her puppy plushies for the perfect one. Very soft and cuddly! Definitely check out this shop and the other ones in that corner. Considering this is my first time shopping here, I wouldn't say it is my go-to mall. The products are cute but not the prices hahaha. Then again, they were probably imported from asian countries so I suppose they're "reasonable". Lastly, there isn't too much variety and not that many customers around. Just from visiting the basement and first floor shops, I personally felt it was kind of empty and lonely. I hope they would bring in more shop owners and other cool products that'll attract swarms of people so that it becomes a lively mall~ read more

The remaining amount of actual gift shops is saddening. The Japan import capsule machines are absolutely rip off. The last remaining and official anime store is tucked away in the back corner bricked by Gundam models. While their Anime selection is very limited, they don't seem to carry bootlegs as the other shops do. Collectors beware. Great place to get little trinkets and non-branded gifts. read more

Love this little gem of a store. All the my melody and kuromi you could shop for. There plenty of other characters but my daughter was fixated on Kuromi. We tried looking for other Sanrio-type shops but nothing compared to this store. There were items from almost every price range. If you're looking to buy something under $10 or $5, there's something for you. And there's obviously way more expensive items there as well. read more

I saw an online article about a shop in here that resells lots of trendy street clothing from Supreme, Bape, Stussy, Montblanc, Jordan, etc. It's basically some nice/quiet Chinese woman sitting in a small corner shop reselling products for 200%-300% their MSRP. Apparently this place makes 6 figures annually easily. I guess all it takes is spending a lot of time waiting for new products to come out, buying as many as possible, getting a cheap space to rent in Chinatown, and reselling to rich kids at a highly premium price. I thought it was cool to check this place out just because it's a pure business model that works. Also, it's cool to see all these street wear items that I used to be really interested in. I guess it was a little mysterious trying to find this place since there weren't that many labels anywhere. Just use a smartphone and get to 15 Elizabeth St, enter the building, go down the escalators and turn right, you can't miss it with all those stickers/shoes/shirts that bleed street fashion. Go to Joe's Shanghai before or after coming here to get some of the best soup dumplings on the east coast. read more

I was only able to enter two kawaii shops--most are empty or closed. This center would've gotten a 5 star if there were more stores to look around. But nevertheless, if you are looking for inexpensive cute things, this is the place to go if you love stickers, pens, pencils, erasers, phone charms/squishy charms, plushies, etc. There are notebooks, journals, and memo pads (in only one shop which is nearest by the escalator in lowest floor), but not so much of a variety. There was mostly Rilakkuma writing stationary. Actually, there was mostly Rilakkuma merchandise ranging from stationary to plushies. There are a variety of Kutusita Nyanko stickers for only $2 in the store which is usually $3-5 or more if you buy them online. So this is a good price in the store. Also some Gudetama merchandise like sack stickers. The second cute store had mostly phone accessories, solar toys, and Funko Pop figures. I was mainly interested in the stationary--they had pens (a lot of cute cat ones), pencils, and $2 stickers. There is also squishy toys and phone bell style charms for just $1. Sadly there was no writing paper stationary. Another kawaii store I recommend is Sweety Shop in Brooklyn. The pricing is more moderate and expensive, but they also have a lot of cute stuff and more writing blank books. read more

I have been coming to the Elizabeth Center for years for the sole purpose of roaming around aimlessly at all the teeny tiny knick-knacks they have in the various stores in the basement. So adorably anime and so Asian, you can't help but squeal in delight at their cuteness. Seriously... your brain should explode. Sadly, not all the stores in the basement are open during the week, which forces one to curiously return on the weekends (guilty). Video games, anime series sold on DVD and VHS, clothing, and that Hello Kitty pillow case you've had your eyes on for the past few months. Don't hesitate to embrace your inner Asian; I do it frequently and always find peace...and totally sweet deals! :D read more

Affectionately known as "EC", my friends and I first discovered this place when in junior high, coming from Queens. Gladly (or sadly?), the place still holds as much excitement to me as it did those many years ago. No matter when I come here or who I come with, we always do a lap around the whole lower level. There are plushies, jewelry, anime DVDs, figurines, toy models, stationery, video games, bedding, and more! It's an awesome place to explore for cute gifts and unique decorations. And the prices are great, too! My favorite is the first shop on the right at the foot of the escalator. I love their cool earrings, rockin' necklaces, AND imported Taiwan facial masks. The guys always check out the video game shop & figurine/models shop for their updated and abundant stock. Best part about EC is definitely all the great eatery around it. I love Elizabeth Center despite all its ghettoness. I'm actually really sad because a lot of the stores in the basement are now empty; I guess Elizabeth Center's prime was when I was in high school. Now there are only a couple of stores including several jewelry stores, a yarn store, stores that sell phone cases and little figurines, etc. If you want circle lenses, come here. I bought two pairs for 36 dollars. It doesn't get any better than that, I think. My boyfriend and I also got matching couple rings from here for Valentine's day. They have nice designs and it was $54 for both. They're stainless steel, so you don't have to be an overly attached boyfriend or girlfriend by buying them white gold rings that make it seem more like wedding bands. More English is spoken here now than what it used to be 6 years ago. Great place to come for gift ideas. read more

Sosososososo sad at what this place has become. Chinatown in general is a shadow of it's former glory and it's nowhere more obvious than Elizabeth st. I used to love to come here and buy all sorts of cute/geeky stuff, from anime soundtracks to figures to erasers and pushes, for really cheap. Now most of the stores are closed. The same can be said for the majority of the chinatown shops that I loved to frequent - They have been replaced by weird fancy ice cream boutiques and cheesy tourist shops (the kind in Times Square). If you need a household good, you can probably find a cute version of it down there somewhere. While each shop is an organized mess, prices are way more affordable than many similar gift shops in Flushing. TIP: After going down the escalator, find the first shop on the left around the corner. Not only does it sell adorable stickers for $1 a sheet instead of $2 or $3 like the other shops, THE MAN IN THERE IS SO NICE! I clearly had a $10 bill in my hand and was fumbling for smaller bills to pay for my $6 purchase, and after I got to about $5 and some nickels he said it was all right and told me to go ahead. Need some gifts such as stuffed dolls, ornaments, anime-related goods, and other knick-knacks on the cheap? - this place has it. From the entrance, nothing impressive, down the escalator? Enter tight spaced corridors with many many small to large merchandise at the display window. The stores are small, so know what you want before entering, some owners get annoyed when you just browse. There are vibrant colors of Mario characters, Sanrio goods, Gundams, game-related decors and many more things for your eyes from left to right. I'm still infatuated with the Gundam Wing Zero on display - such a marvelous piece constructed together with many lights hitting it's famous pose (gosh I want!). The only thing that irks me are the numerous groups of teens coming and going. As if the corridors aren't crowded enough, this place is a hang-out spot apparently. read more

I always make an effort to come here whenever I'm in NY. I always head downstairs for the boutiques. They look like they have a lot to offer from the outside, but I usually end up walking out of each store empty handed. But anyways, this place is the ideal place to pick up little gifts for friends or family. They have plushes, stationary, nail polish, jewelry, iwako erasers, gundams, etc. There is usually a store that I visit where I buy most of my goods. They generally have a lot of plushes that ranges from $3.50-$10 or so for a decent one and other small things to pick up, such as DIY crafts or something. I was also pleased to find what seemed like a full collection of pa brand nail polish here. Some places do seem a bit overpriced for what they sell, but I would still pick something up anyway. If you're ever in the area, you should drop by to browse around! And don't forget to bring cash! I don't know if any of the stores accept credit/debit cards, but I wouldn't count on it. read more

I thought the Elizabeth Center was AWESOME when I was younger. I loved the cheap keychains, pens, jewelry, and stuffed animals. Going back there at age 23, it is not so impressive. I think a lot of the items are overpriced. If you check Amazon for the same items, they may be cheaper. Also, quality is a big issue. 8/10 times, the pens I purchase don't work! And some items look used and/or opened. Makes me really iffy. It may be fun to look around if you're in the area, but definitely not worth going out of your way. read more

I've been going to this mall for as long as I can remember. It is a place for goodies that you don't really need but just want. But since everything is so fancy, you are once again tempted to buy and buy and buy some more. If you have that problem, bring someone to stop you. :-) The top floor has two lingerie shops and a barber shop. The basement floor is the better floor that sells things like video games, jewelry, anime and all those Japanese inspired items. Even the little trinklets are to die for. One particular shop focuses on anime and it carries everything from anime posters to t-shirts to jewelry. Every Otaku will know about this place so expect to see a lot of them here. Going to this place brings back a lot of memories. Remember the days when you get out of school and you just don't want to go home yet so you drop by here? or those days when you beg your parents to buy you that video game you wanted so badly? Those are the kinds of nostalgia I get every time I visit here. The only downside I would say about this place is that it's pretty difficult to leave and not buy something from here like all good places. :-) read more

This place is a lot of fun. It's one of the best, if not THE BEST place to get really cute Asian things for pretty cheap. There is a store in here that sells circle lenses as well. I used to buy mine from here before every beauty shop in Flushing starting selling them. I'm also pretty sure a lot of the stuff here is counterfeit, so if you're a serious collector you might wanna avoid this place. But if you're looking for cheap cute stuff. This place is for you! I've seen some figurines for as low as ten bucks. There are a bunch of tiny shops in here. It's best to go around early in the day, because after three all the teenagers/elementary students come out and block your way!! read more

Years ago and up until a few years ago before the impending Real Estate boom that are outpricing services and businesses, this was the place to be! I used to buy my shirts, skin care, stickers, charms, jewelry, anime books, bags, videos, and sneakers here! All of the coolest and trendiest thing were downstairs, now its closed for renovation and its only a few aesthetic, necessaries, and beauty shops and pharmacies upstairs. This is my favorite place to go if I want to get something cute/arts and crafts-y. My favorite store is the one that it by the escalator to the right on the way down. That's where I get my piercing jewelry. I would also get cute trinkets to hang on my phone and it lights up whenever I make/receive a call. I would still use it but my stupid blackberry doesn't have a place where I can put it. Fun place to check out. If you love kawaii and/ or sanrio; this is one of very few place were you can find them in NYC. There are a handful of little shops here. Most of them are downstairs. They can be a bit pricey and once in a will you can find a good deal. But some of the shops are cash only and the ones that do except card have reduced prices if you pay cash. read more

For some reason, I almost always go here when I'm in NYC. Don't ask me why, I just go. The place itself is like two stories -- when you walk in, you'll most likely smell someone getting his/her hair dyed or permed and you'll see other miscellaneous jewelry and cosmetics shops before you go down to the bottom story. The bottom story is where it's at -- countless cute plush animals, cellphone accessories, jewelry, makeup, bags, clothing, house accessories, cool things, weird things, etc. I don't typically get anything, but when I do, it's either a cute headband, iPhone cover, or Little Twin Stars slippers.
