Based on reviews and their webpage, I was under the impression that breakfast was provided but it was not. You can buy breakfast in the restaurant but it is expensive. The weirdest part of the stay was that there is no host to check guests in or help with issues. It is completely virtual! You press the button on a doorbell camera and someone answers after like 5 min. I had to press it several times to get a response at 10 am in the day of my checkout. The response was the staff doesn't show up until 11 am; which is the checkout time. There is a text number but the person or AI agent on the other end clearly is not the innkeeper or anyone capable of making decisions. They/It provided faulty information and was the opposite of helpful. If this is what the future of hospitality looks like, I am not impressed. My family rented two rooms on the first floor. One room facing the back of the property was nice but the other one (#15) was very small and had two windows overlooking the front porch and yard. Unfortunately there are chairs just outside of the windows and someone kept sitting in one of them and talking on her phone. It was very uncomfortable to have the shades open and have someone sitting right there. Because of this we had to keep the curtains drawn and with the room being so small, it felt like we were in a cave. Basically, it sounds like staying at the Jackson used to be a very nice experience but new owners/management are now trying to run the hotel as cheaply as possible. Guests are noticing.

My husband and I booked a two-night stay at this beautiful home via Airbnb. It is a beautiful,…read moresecluded house on CCC Road (which stands for Civilian Conservation Corps, we learned from a book in our room); and we were the only people staying there this given weekend. It was a little confusing when we arrived to figure out how to get inside. We ended up finding an unlocked door to the side (the front door is a little harder to push open), but then it was unclear who was around. It would have been helpful to have more information right in the main area about how to get in touch with someone or even the wifi password in case we needed to call someone. (Our phones did not work in this part of town.) Our room, the Green Room, was comfy. There's also a hot tub in an adjacent room that can be used by guests, which had lots of pleasant additions like candles and bath salts. The jets were great! There was a surprise power outage one evening, which thankfully didn't last too long but did seem to impact the temperature of the hot water for the rest of the time we were there, even after the water heater was reset. Breakfast each morning was really tasty and filling. (Helen made perfect bacon!) By being the only people in the b&b this given weekend, we did feel a little like we were a burden, but overall our stay was comfortable. It's a really beautiful space.

The entrance fee is $30 per person but includes access to all of the buildings and Mount Defiance (short drive). If you're not too into the military aspect you can just walk around and enjoy the beautiful views and immaculate grounds. The garden is stunning and they even have a small working farm with seeds and veggies for sale.

Walking throughout the fort there were games for the kids to play, they tried writing with a qu'il, and were given small wool scraps to take home. We explored the gardens and the kids ran and got all of their energy out in those wide open spaces! There were beautiful apple trees and more buildings to explore. We didn't sign up to do the boat ride but that is available and is a great way to extend your stay at the fort! The staff was all incredibly friendly understanding of children's needs. We couldn't ask for more with a family day out at a historical site! It was such a joy to enjoy! The gift shop had so many gems it could be very easy to end up with super cool toys Tshirts and yummy treats. Drive out slow and be ready to pull over to read the informative stones on the way out. Worth it!! Don't forget to check out mount defiance after visiting (otherwise it's $10 a car to check out) and on your way there there is a park with a beautiful waterfall to look at.

I called the 1-800 number and no one answered. Thankfully, David from the property had emailed me a few days prior because they changed my room and his personal number was in his signature. He gave me the correct code to get in. Who knows how long I would have been standing outside at night waiting if I didn't have his direct cellphone number. This was after I slipped and had a horrible fall on the icy walkway directly in front of the units. My knees are literally aching, swollen and black and blue. This made skiing the next morning quite painful. I also injured one of my hands. I emailed photos of the injury and was essentially told by Barbara "sorry..." and "...bad weather is expected..." I think safety should also be expected. They were unwilling to offer any sort of remedy for the injury and inconvenience the fall caused. The close proximity to the mountain is not worth the trouble. Stay elsewhere if you can.

If you show up after hours there is no one at the front desk and you need to drive up the road about 2-3 miles in order to get the keys. The signs are very poor explaining where to go. You get daily service but nothing special, someone come to make the bed sloppily and take out the garbage.
