I have never been there, but I used to frequent the McDonald's often over decade ago. My dad says that they are next door to each other. My dad got me a four-piece fried chicken meal. It came with a side, a biscuit, and a drink. My dad knows that I like the mashed potatoes with Cajun gravy and coleslaw. He got me the former, which is perfect to dip the chicken (regular recipe and not the spicy) into the gravy. He also got me a Diet Coke. My meal hit the spot. The chicken was crispy on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. I love the mashed potatoes with the Cajun gravy. The gravy has a slight kick that compliments the mashed potatoes nicely. It's a step up from the other fast-food restaurants. Hero has higher quality meats, a more robust offering in toppings and a good assortment of sides. The Markham Road location has been in business for a few years and is quite busy due to it's prime location in a multi-service shopping plaza. Hero caters to all crowds as it serves up beef, chicken, fish and vegetarian options for its sandwiches and sides and has very good salads as well. The staff and ownership really take pride in their offerings and service. This makes this location a popular destination for burger and chicken sandwich lovers in the area. I find that the root beer quality is highly inconsistent depending on the franchise location. For example, the Sheppard and Birchmount A&W location has some of the best root beer in the GTA. They serve you the root beer in CHILLED glasses and the root beer is also very fizzy. Perhaps it was because this A&W is part of the food court? The burger patties could've also been hotter when biting into them. I must echo what one other reviewer said about the temperature. Also, while the sides tasted good, the sweet potato fries should've been in the fryer longer (a lot of them were limp and not crispy). The onion rings were also not battered well. The coating was basically flaking off of each piece when I picked them up. I'm still gonna come back to this A&W for the $2 mobile app order (teen/mozza burgers) on Maple Leaf game days, but if I was really craving A&W it wouldn't be at this location.

It's $8.99 before taxes through the Harvey's app. I placed this order for takeout: - Angus burger on a multigrain bun - Onion rings - Regular Diet Pepsi I got an estimated time of fifteen minutes. It was perfect, as I was wrapping up an errand a few blocks north of this eatery. I don't normally visit this plaza on the northeast corner of Markham Road and 16th Avenue. Garden Basket anchors it.
