Master Burger has the best burgers, in my opinion.
Every time I have a burger anywhere else I'm always dissatisfied because it's never as good as Master Burger.
As a kid living in Cookstown there were few places I could get to on my own--but this was one of them. So off I'd go on my bike with my friends and grab a burger, fries and pop....and not even spend all of my allowance.
Here I am, as an adult, wondering if it was nostalgia that has favoured Master Burger after all these years--before this visit, I hadn't been in such a long time I was thinking that maybe, just maybe, the burgers weren't as good as I remember.
They are.
They are so delicious and I love, love, love the owners--they are so friendly, they kid around and you might even feel cheered after being on the receiving end of a smile.
Those burgers are grilled as you wait with your tray and the sizzle and pop of the burgers cooking cannot be beat--and neither can the scent.
Within a few minutes my friend and I had the dilemma of where to sit--do we sit by the window in the sun (after a long winter, we might need to soak some up) or in one of the booths along the wall. We decided the sunny window because we could watch the traffic move past, and day dream about sitting on the patio. The signs are old-style and they have been changed with marker, paper and lay-overs. And I love it! It's not about the signs--it's about the food and service! The menu is not limited to burgers, there is a variety of other types of meals (it might actually be hard for you to choose!).
There were several others in the establishment enjoying their lunch, good conversation and time away from the other commitments in their lives; we were all so happy in there eating our delicious food and enjoying the casual 'burger joint' atmosphere.
I'll be forever on a quest to find a burger to top these--but in the meantime, I'll be sure to visit a few more times--maybe on a nice day so I can sit under an umbrella on the patio. read more
