The chicken at Mary Brown's is similar in style to Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), as opposed to Popeye's Chicken. It's less salty than KFC I find. The fries aren't battered like the wedges. They were good as well. They are just regular-cut fries, not shoestring, but not beefsteak/thick cut. The macaroni and cheese salad was too rich and creamy for my tastes, but I guess that's how it's supposed to be. I didn't try the coleslaw because I generally don't like coleslaw and especially not creamy coleslaw. The gravy was nice and thick and full of chicken flavour. My dad's assessment was "better than KFC, but not as good as Popeye's" lol. I don't know if I agree. I really like Mary Brown's and I like that it's a Canadian chain (it's from out East). Besides, I think all fried chicken places can coexist, since they all offer something a bit different :) This Mary Brown's Chicken is in the Orleans Gardens Shopping Centre (which is really a plaza, not an enclosed shopping centre).
