There was so much toppings that the last fries were eaten before the toppings were finished off. Taco de Carnitas - Proteins felt a bit dry and lacked sauce to back up to dryness. Big portion, but for $8.... its a bit steep. would not recommend. Taco de Carne Asada - A good portion for a single taco, but as with the other taco $8 is a bit too much for just one. This time proteins was more juicy and you get a hint for carmalization from the charred meat. Tacos not worth. Would come back for Asada fries but add protein. The Long Version: I learned about Egyptian Corner on Reddit. I do not know of any Egyptian restaurants in Ottawa as of the writing of this review. Once upon a time there was the Pharaoh's House on Rideau, which I tried and liked, but they have long closed down. Then Vardera Cafe and Lounge out in Stittsville served an Egyptian menu on certain days of the week, but I never got the opportunity to try their Egyptian food before they also closed down (their regular menu was great, so I was really disappointed they didn't last). So I was really stoked to hear there was a food truck serving Egyptian street food. The first time I had Koshary was at La Folie du Koshary in Montreal on St Mathieu (it too has closed down) and I loved it! I also had Om Ali for the first time there too. It was 8 years ago and I still dream about that Om Ali. I was hoping to get the same things at Egyptian Corner. They had Koshary, but didn't have Om Ali (bread pudding) but had Roz Bel Laban (rice pudding) instead. Let's just say I am now dreaming about the rice pudding at Egyptian Corner! The Koshary ($8) was a good size and served in a paper bowl. It had pasta (spaghetti, macaroni and ditali), rice, lentils, and chickpeas in a tomato-based sauce and was topped with crispy fried onions. It was so delicious. My husband and I shared it, but I easily could have had my own, lol. It came with 2 sauces in small solo cups, a yellowish garlicky water and a red oily emulsion. I didn't use either because I thought it was tasty as is and I didn't want it oily or too wet. My only complaint is that the Koshary was not hot, it was room temperature. It would have been next level tasty if it was hot. The rice pudding ($5) also came in a paper bowl, albeit a smaller one than the Koshary. This rice pudding is the best rice pudding I've ever had in my life! It was so creamy and not too sweet. It was topped with a scoop of Ashta and sprinkled on top was crispy vermicelli and crispy phyllo pastry pieces. Omg! So tasty. I now have another dessert to haunt dreams. Lol. Luckily the rice pudding was chilled and not room temperature. Service was courteous and quick. The food truck is parked on the Jiffy Lube lot at Bank St and Riverdale Ave. They have a few tables and chairs immediately in front of the food truck if you want to eat on-site. We took it to go and ate it while walking along Bank St. Their menu is small. They have Falafel sandwiches and Fava bean sandwiches in addition to Koshary and the rice pudding. I cannot recommend this place enough! If you like Egyptian rice pudding or Koshary, or want to try it, you need to try Egyptian Corner. You could taste the garlic in the garlic rice, but it wasn't overpowering, which is good because no one wants to walk around smelling like a garlic bulb. This dish was delicious, but my only complaint is that I found the portion size a bit small. I was still hungry afterwards and ended up getting a meat pie at Nasser Bakery across the street, and also a cannoli at Farmer's Pick, lol. I dunno, maybe I just have an unusually large appetite, haha. Service was friendly and relatively quick. They are in the parking lot of the plaza at the south west corner of Prince of Wales and Meadowlands. The same plaza as the Shoppers Drug Mart, McDonalds and Baskin Robbins. This food truck recently set up shop in my neighbourhood (summer of 2024). I first saw it while driving to work and made a mental note to check it out. They don't have their own website and are exclusively on Instagram and Facebook. Initially they weren't even on Google Maps, but now they are. But really, they had me at crepes and Filipino-inspired sealed the deal, lol. I love creative fusion cuisine! The Husbster and I walked over on a Sunday afternoon and the owner (I think she was the owner) was all smiles and very welcoming. I got the Walker Crepe ($16) which was pulled chicken, rutabaga, pickles and a spinach/arugula mix. It usually comes with cilantro, but my husband hates cilantro, so I asked to have it omitted, so he could try some (even though he wasn't in the mood for crepes and we knew I would be the one eating most of it, lol). I also got the Gulaman Cooler ($4.50) which is a drink made of brown sugar syrup and banana extract with jellies. I love jellies, so I asked for extra and got lots of jellies ;) I was also pleasantly surprised that the crepe came with a small quinoa salad. The crepe was delicious. The pulled chicken was dark meat and so moist, tender and flavourful. The shredded rutabaga added a nice texture, as did the pickles and leafy greens. It was a little wet towards the bottom though with liquid pooling and it eventually leaked out the bottom of the paper cone holding the crepe. Luckily I was given lots of napkins, lol. The crepe was crispy around the edges and soft with a nice amount of chew on the inside. A very tasty crepe. The quinoa salad was ok, but nothing too remarkable. It had a lot of cilantro in it, to my husband's chagrin, haha. I loved the Gulaman Cooler, especially with all the jelly I was given ;) It was sweet and refreshing on a hot summer's day. The jellies were cut very small, so they fit in the narrow straw. I had a lovely chat with the lady who I believe is the owner while she prepared my items. She was very friendly. There are picnic tables in front of the food truck for you to eat at. And since the food truck is parked in an empty parking lot, there is parking available if you drive there.
