Customers beware! If you want your car fixed at a competent auto mechanic this is NOT where you go! A+ Auto in Sturtevant gets a F. We brought our jeep here with the assumption it was the starter because it wouldn't turn over. They replaced the starter without running diagnostics. The first starter made the car shake so they replaced it again before we picked it up. Cool, love that they took action. After 2 replaced starters, we paid over 1k and pick up the Jeep. A day after we picked it up, the car wouldn't start again. They asked us to tow it back to them to check it out. WE paid to get it towed back to their shop. They said they need to run diagnostics, which would cost $180 to figure out what was wrong. We refused to pay that because they should have done that from the beginning. They ran the diagnostics and determined it needed another starter and replaced the it for the 3rd time. They did up not charge us for the diagnostics that they should have done at the start. We drove it for a day and then it wouldn't turn over AGAIN! We decided to bring it to a different mechanic because after 3 replaced starters, A+ Auto must be incompetent. The starter was replaced a 4th time along with some other issues being fixed that were never diagnosed by A+ Auto. They blame us because there were other things wrong. When you bring your vehicle into a shop you are trusting that they give you reasons why the vehicle is not working. If by the 3rd fixed attempt, it continues to not work, how can we trust this shop knows what they are doing? Now comes the customer service part...I contacted the owner Chris at the beginning of June. I called 3x and left messages. His staff, Brandon, called and left me a message on 6/16/26, saying he gave Chris the message but he was busy and would call me asap. During this time Chris spoke with our new mechanic who told him he replaced the starter a 4th time and found other issues. So now 7/7/26 rolls around and I call again hoping to talk with Chris and make this situation right for the work they were not successful at. I spoke with Brandon and said I want to speak with Chris by the end of the next business day or I will be writing reviews on my experience with them. Surprise, surprise! Chris calls me the next day (7/8/26). He apologized for his delay in calling me stating he lost the post it note (it is only a month later...). He talked in circles on how his shop replaced my starter 3x and it is not their fault that it continues to not work. It was our fault that we wouldn't let them do diagnostics...but we did. He said he trusted our word that it was the starter and that is what they fixed. He said after the 2nd failed starter, they offered us diagnostics but we refused. No! We wanted diagnostics but didn't want to pay for something that should have been done from the start. Little did he remember, they did run diagnostics after the 2nd failed starter (see attached receipt). This shop takes no accountability for their poor work. They charged us for work they failed to fix. Instead of working something out with me, the owner accused me of talking over him when I was just sick of him talking in circles. I understand parts can malfunction but 3 times within 2 weeks?! This isn't a part problem...This is a shop problem. This is an owner problem. This is a mechanic problem. So over 1k later in parts & mechanic fees and over $400 in multiple tow fees, we brought it else where. Thank you A+ Auto for your failure to be competent mechanics. When I called to inquire about specific services and prices, Andrew answered each question with confidence and ease. He was friendly and patient when I asked for the bottom line of what I should expect to pay after services rendered, he told me flat out what the cost would be. Additionally, this business honors military service members with a 10% discount. As an Air Force retiree, that was a pleasant bonus! I met the mechanic who worked on my vehicle and as a female, I appreciate having a female mechanic work on my vehicle! Seriously, fed up of male mechanics creating and/ or exaggerating non-issues concerning my vehicle. (Referring to Zeigler Toyota Mt Pleasant - rip off). My mechanic, Liz, professionally identified 2 issues I knew need addressing. I didn't get a laundry list of "issues" ... just what was critical. My vehicle runs smooth again thanks to Liz's expert work. Integrity is essential. This place has it!!! I will continue to recommend this place to family and friends, in addition to making this my home for automotive repairs/maintenance. Give them a shot and find out for yourself. I needed brakes for my Jag so I contacted A+ and spoke with Chris. He was knowledgeable and a straightforward kinda guy. I made the appointment with Jessica and everything went smooth. No issues at all with ordering the parts or the install. A few weeks later they also did another complete brake job and lube on my son's car and that also went well. They made arrangements to get my car into the shop and try to get it done so I could get home. Their diagnosis was exactly right, the longest wait was for the necessary part to be delivered. I called this shop to look at a car I was considering buying. They were super busy, so I had to leave a message and they and weren't able to get back to me the same day, but called the next day. I spoke with the owner who was extremely nice and offered to squeeze me in the next day. I cannot say enough good things about this shop. Liz and Chris went over the car I was test driving with a fine tooth comb and gave me the peace of mind to purchase the vehicle. They were knowledgeable about the vehicle and the potential issues, and took their time inspecting everything and explaining everything to me, even taking me into the garage and showing me what they were seeing. Knowing that I live a fair distance away and may not be in a position where I'd be able to return for future work, they were still willing to accommodate me and spend a lot of time to make sure I was well-educated on the purchase I was about to make. This place is 20 stars. I came in at 2pm on a friday because my car was making some god awful noises, and I only have one car so needed it done the same day. I needed a new serpentine belt for my 2005 envoy and an oil change . By 3:15 I had the belt installed and the oil change done and was on my way. 125.00 and I am driving a safer, more reliable car. I have gone to Chris several times since he first opened and every time I walk away saying "wow" because not only does he fix what was asked, but he goes above and beyond ever time as well. For example I had him replace the hitch and bumpers on my older Jeep - and before I asked him to do the work I took off the KC lights and mentioned to him that I would put those back on myself to save him time. Well he did install them anyway - and I appreciated it. Both he and his wife who works in the reception area are knowledgeable, very nice, and treat you like a real person who may not understand what is going on with the car. Run from this place as fast as you can!!! So they gave us a bid to fix two things on my car for 800 so we said no just fix one thing. This than brought the bill down to 600. So during the repair they claim a cable broke..so they broke it while they were fixing it so they should have paid for what they broke and it mysteriously brought the bill back up to the original bid price 800. This was our second time going there and not being happy and were stupid enough to go back and get ripped off twice. They are not honest people in our opinion!!!!!!. I would not even give them 1 star but had to in order to leave a review. We hope we can spare someone from being ripped off like we were twice!! read more

I read all these great reviews & can't believe I went to the same place they r talking about. They didn't get my parts on time, & did not even return my call to say that. Two calls later & an hour before close, the women at the desk said it wouldn't be done today because they just got the parts. She had no problem calling me at 11:00 that morning to ask about up charging me $55 to flush my radiator but can't call to tell me the parts are on delay? I had to call them, I asked them to just put it back together & I will find another mechanic to fix it in a timely fashion or at least communicate as such. When I picked it up, to my surprise the girl was the owner, I explained that communication is essential & she never returned my call early in the day & all this could of been avoided. I told her she lost a client & her response was, well it happens. She could of cared less. Running a business entails communication. I will never give them my money! read more
