I had the potential to have a really terrible day when my boat ride with a competitor scheduled for 9:30 left me and the wife behind despite us getting there at 9:15. I guess the onus was on us to find a person we have never seen before. That is when Gator Bruce from A-Awesome boat rides came to the rescue and setting us up with his son, also named Bruce. Bruce has a great boat. He admits that it is small, but he is proud of it anyway for its large engine and its speed. The benefit of being small, as he demonstrated on the tour, is being able to get into smaller and less wet locations. He can also take his boat higher on the "hill" than others. Bruce knows how to work his boat - he can go on land and knows how to flush out a gator or two. He knows all the local flora and fauna. Bruce is a nice guy that is proud of Florida, his boat (who wouldn't be proud of a 371 HP aircraft engine driven boat that goes on land and water?) and his trade. I would highly recommend Bruce and his son (his son was our guide on 5/13/2013). Unlike the more "commerciazed" airboat rides, they are able to get you back into places other ones cannot. As we went earlier in the day and the clouds had not burned off yet, we didnt get to see much 'gator action other than eyes/heads peaking out of the water - and a few youngsters scooting along, it was a wonderful experience, and we dill definitely be back again - this time with full son! This airboat ride was a real airboat compared to midway airboats where you at packed with bunch of people you don't know ,we had four in our group and went on the morning tour it was what there name is awesome ,we went places that I never went before with midway ,we went on land very much which gives a different view than just water the cypress trees was so peaceful inside ,the captain was Bruce ,the son ,he was very good at explaining everything ,they seem to know very much .it is a ride that you will always remember and want to go back again .for the price you can't go wrong at all .we did see a lot of alligators also .just hard to get very close to them at this time of year . read more

Worth the price for time spent out (1 1/2 hr). Most boats are only 1/2 hr ride and too large to really get the experience you want to get riding an airboat. Also Bruce has headphones so don't have to stop to get info from captain. Early morning rides and late afternoons are the best times to see gators. Noon time is really slow for sighting gators because of the heat. read more

Smaller than their competitors boats but in this case smaller is better! We were able to go places the larger boats couldn't. Thank you Gator Bruce for such a fantastic tour on your air boat! We loved that we felt not only safe and secure but as though we were taking a private tour that was offered to us alone! Taking a smaller air boat to fit only six people was definitely a benefit so we could fit into small, tight places a bigger boat could not fit. This was our first Airboat ride and we had two teenage boys - so you know this had to be fun! Captain Gator (real name Gator Bruce) is super nice and very laid back. He makes you feel like you are the only reason he is here today. Knows allot about the area and stops often so that you can see the alligators or just explain about what you are looking at. His boat is a bit smaller but it works out great because he will take you into areas allot of the bigger boats can't get into. Had so much fun I will be back with my husband. Capt Bruce is amazing. He truly loves what he does. We got up close and personal with the wildlife. He took us under the canopy of the bald cypress trees, where the big tour boats can not go. If you go to Florida you simply must tour with Captain Bruce (or his son). We just did our third trip with these folks and I have to tell you it was by far the best. I saw more eagles in the wild along with every other kind of Florida bird then I have in my entire life. But of course we were here for the gators and gators we saw! There were so many I lost count. We went around one bend and must of saw 20 right there. Bruce is quite the character and he knows his river. Constantly pointing out things to see both in and out of the water. He can talk to us because we wear radio head sets that really work. I have taken the large boat tours and there is no doubt that Bruce's tour puts these to shame. We love the personalized service and knowledge that he brings. His smaller air boat can go into places that the large ones would not have a chance at. The money we paid Bruce for this tour is probably the best value in all of Florida and we would not miss the opportunity to do it again on our next Flordia vacation. read more
