The worst vehicle buying experience of my life: I purchased a vehicle through A Better Bid and the entire experience has been extremely stressful. The truck I received was not as advertised and when I tried to follow their buyback/refund process, the company repeatedly refused to send the refund before pickup. I have documentation of dozens of emails asking for standard proof of payment (FedWire trace or IMAD number) before I release my property. Instead, they continued to demand that I sign away my rights and release the vehicle first with no verified payment. I was told many conflicting things over several days, and the refund process kept changing. At this point I have had to involve my state Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division for assistance because I could not get clear or consistent answers from their team. Don't play unless you can afford to lose! I had a great idea to flip cars to try to make some side cash. I decided to invest my savings into this adventure. I completely regret it. I won a 2015 BMW with some body damage for $4000. After the shipping and the fees it was $8100. Still I thought I could make it work. Then I received the car. The pictures were completely misleading. The pictures shown on the website were dated and the car was delivered with additional high school stickers and parking decals on it. This means someone was using the car after they took the pictures. The vehicle had a lot more damage than the pictures showed. The pictures they had were definitely taken at certain angles to avoid the full picture of the damages, and the interior pictures completely skipped the damages to the interior and the computer dash. After multiple emails showing all the documentation they still refused to acknowledge the misrepresentation. I reach ed out to my attorney and he did say I had a strong case, but by the time I paid for everything my only consolidation would be proving a point. I would be out more money fighting than just walking away. It's a sad world we live in when businesses like his take no accountability for deceiving their customers. "AS IS" was their mantra. I strongly recommend if anyone is interested in going to auction, go to your local auction house and avoid online crooks. They are everywhere. I began dealing with the Copart broker "A Better Bid" (ABB) in April 2023. I made several calls (on a recorded line) and sent emails to the broker regarding specifics on purchasing and purchasing specific lot numbers. I asked questions regarding the ownership documents I need for the state in which the vehicle would be titled. I was told multiple times that these three documents would be provided (BOS, Certificate, Appraisal) and I would be able to receive these legal documents that I would need in order to purchase. In my state, these three are all required by law. Additionally, ABB approved my user account which stated the state and purpose of the account. There are multiple attempts where ABB could have declined, blocked purchases, raised concerns, etc. however none were made and I made several confirmations. After the lot was won, I asked for the confirmation of the ownership documents. I understand the Bill of Sale (BOS) is provided after payment, and the Certificate would be many weeks after payment, that's fine. However, the Appraisal Document is immediate and can even be received before the sale in some cases. As you can tell, I have experience in these dealings and never had any issues when purchasing direct without a broker involved. These three documents were confirmed to have existed (and the insurance document legally has to be created for all salvage vehicles to change the title to salvage to begin with) and I was informed multiple times I would be able to get the BOS and Appraisal immediately and the certificate later on. I emailed later the same day the lot was won and asked for two of the documents to be forwarded for my review. ABB said they do not have them and after many attempts they still have been unable to provide these documents. This is the broker's job. To broker the deal, which they have failed. ABB has made some sly attempts to try and get me to give them the payment and hold the vehicle so they could try and charge me extra fees on top of the purchase even. I saw through this and declined. Upon reviewing the BOS, they have additional "extra" charges outside of what is stated such as a gate fee (not picking up so does not apply), a mailing fee (I don't see this listed in the fees list), and a bidder fee (which is already included in the Copart Buyer fee but they are attempting to sneak it in there twice). After noticing this breach of trust, mis-use of financial information, repeated failures and lack of communication, I promptly requested the purchase be cancelled as I won't be legally allowed to own this vehicle without the ownership documents nor would I want to continue to deal with a company that has these many issues, and a "F" rating on the Better Business Bureau. We are going on day three now since I informed ABB of my cancellation of the purchase and contract obligations. ABB is still not cancelling the purchase and continues to try and avoid responsibilities. They are operating under illegal business practices. ABB has also made an attempt to charge 15% [$2,475] (and now they are deciding to change that to 20% [$3,300]) of the final bid amount [$16,500]. Copart's cancellation fee is 10% which is [$1,650] for this lot. Both prices are of course are high, however there is no sound business or ethical reason as to why the cancellation charge would be any different then what Copart has listed in the TOS. Doesn't matter if you're a Broker or not, this is simply unethical business practice to try and double the cancellation charge as well as change it on the spot. Copart needs to intervene. Additionally, I should not be responsible for any cancellation fees, as it's not the customers job to procure the ownership documents. As I mentioned before, ABB stated on record they would have these documents for me by the deadline which I required, and they did not, and still do not have them. After spending several weeks since the start of my interactions, it's extremely apparent how inconsistent the emails are. I have plenty of examples where one day ABB will tell me one thing, and the next day it's completely different. One day they say you can cancel a purchase, the next day you cannot. One day something costs this much, next day it's completely different. ABB has made countless business errors that could end up costing customers thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars. ABB should not be allowed to remain as a broker and legal action will have to be taken if the deposit amount that ABB is holding hostage is not returned. read more

Very responsive through chat, they acted as the middle man with the money, and they sent me the reg 262 form, which is really all that is needed from them. While I have had some ups and downs while going through the process, I am now seeing this is mostly a result of communication issues and website 'bugs'. The 'bugs' are really just poorly developed software issues such as everything disappearing in your account after the bid is over, then it later reappears, or being locked out while bidding. This gives off a bad first impression and an immediate feeling that you have been scammed. The website could use a recoding. There is also occasionally a day or two delay for invoices and emails, which in this day and age of immediacy, can be stressful for some. However, abetterbid is very responsive through chat and helpful at solving problems. So once you understand they are not scammers and that its the system itself of reviving a car that is finicky, you start to see that abetterbid can be relied on as a 3rd party between copart and to give you the 262 form. Now whether or not your DMV rep will understand how the salvage process works is another story. A new DMV rep may treat it like a regular sale and include the title transfer form, which will then bounce back from the DMV headquarters. They will also try to charge you for taxes, so be sure to have proof that taxes were paid to Abetterbid by including your abb invoice. So the process overall has been grueling for me because of DMV. The DMV actually registered my salvaged car, gave me current plates, reg card, and tags after I gave them the VIN check, brake and light insp, smog check, and 262 form. I then never received the title. I went back to the DMV and they have no record of my plates, tags, or reg in the system!!! So now I am in the process of taking DMV to small claims court to get reimbursed while I have to start all over again and resubmit a new reg 262 form, inspections, payments, etc. The most likely cause of this is because someone at the DMV in Vallejo did not do the paperwork correctly because they did not understand what a 262 form is--they added an unnecessary title form without the seller sig. The paperwork was then returned to the DMV Vallejo where it was THROWN OUT(brake and light inspec, smog, 262, etc.) and someone(DMV rep) deleted it from the system giving a 'misc' code so no one knows why it was erased. I guess is was to cover their mistake. To say I am pissed about this would be an understatement. Anyway, Abetterbid is working with me to resolve this DMV screw up. So far at no extra cost other than shipping documents which is why the 5 stars. read more

I have been using AbetterBid to bid on Copart auctions, and they have been pretty much reliable . I had 3 vehicles bought so far, the website is a easy to navigate and find what you look for, no complaints. You have to make a deposit to increase your bidding limits with is basically a 10% - So if you want to bid on a vehicle . YOU MUST KNOW THE RULES OF CAR AUCTIONS, do not expect the title right away, sometimes titles can take months to be released from the original owner, abetterbid are just acting as a dealership agent that grant you access to copart auctions. By the way, for those who think that you can just open a copart account, opening a copart auction account is limited if you do not have a dealer's license. Means that most of vehicles you need to have a third party help to bid on the vehicles. The way i do it , is that i search for the vehicles in Copart, write down the lot number and search for it on abetterbid.com and save it as my favorite. If I could put 0 stars I would, they're unclear about their fee's and costs, the exchange rate they use is lower than my bank so every time I sent them money they say they didn't receive the amount I sent, I had to send 4 separate payments because the amount I was sending always ended up a bit less than the amount that was owed, which in turn caused me to not be able to pick up the vehicle so I was charged more fee's for storage. The girls who answer the phones are completely useless, they sent me the wrong amount on my bill 3 separate times and I had to call and correct it, they don't know what the exchange rate that their bank is using, and can't tell you an exact amount you need to send to pay for the vehicle. Won the bid on Copart for $13,000. for a travel trailer and received an invoice from A Better Bid charging me $17394. Which I had to pay. They lumped sum my winning bid with their "auction fee" and that added $2,793. just in "auction fees." Have asked for a breakdown on why their fees were so much when their website says different and have never received an itemized invoice or explanation on their added fees. Will never use their services again. I was prepared to pay their $99 admin fee, ca sales tax $1,252. and $250 transaction fee that they show on my invoice but they robbed me by adding $2,793 in "auction fees". They have been a nightmare to work with. I knew I was buying salvage cars so no issues there, but they have I have paid them for storage fees that they didn't forward to the facility so I had to pay those again. They gave an estimate on shipping only to increase it by 50% after I purchased the car and then said I could only use their trucking. Basically, if it's more work for them in a particular state they consider it salvaged even if was not in a wreck, even though its a clean title where it was titled in. I lost the bid at $2,200 and two days later got an email that the seller is willing to sell me the car at $2,200 if I am still interested. I reply to the email asking why the seller now agrees to sell me the car at $2,200 and I can not see what the final fees are going to be including shipping. So I asked what the fees will be along with the shipping. Got an email back that it is too late to get the car that it got relisted but if I am still interested I can rebid for the car. This is such an illegal practice by this company and I called the representative who tried to get hold of A Better Bid corporate office but she was unable to do so to figure out why I was billed for this car. She promised to get back to me on 08/22/22. For starters after I registered my account a friendly helpful representative contacted me right away to answer any questions I had. Since then I've purchased seven vehicles through A Better Bid. Every transaction has been very smooth, quick, and completely hassle free. In each transaction I've been able to pick the car up the very next day after the wire transfer. I am not a dealer so for some vehicles I have to use a broker. I thought this would cost me extra money because of the added broker fees. In actuality even with the broker fees, I saved thousands of dollars. Literally on one purchase alone for $27K I saved $4800! This is because Copart fees for non-dealers are so much higher than they are for brokers/dealers. A Better Bid is an authorized broker so their fees from Copart are much lower. Those savings are passed on to you. Some vehicles don't require a license and can be purchased directly through Copart, but I will use the broker everytime anyway. The savings are tremendous. I do suggest you read every disclaimer on their website before you engage in any kind of business with this company. Make sure to double check your invoices before wiring any money. I used their services to purchase a car through copart (worst experience ever). When I signed up and paid my deposit I had trouble logging in. I called and the rude employees would not help unless I sent them an email. They expect for you to keep your eyes glued to your inbox to wait for their absurd responses. Couple hours before my bidding started, they offered their stupid membership which would guarantee a flat fee. Ofcourse I did not take it because I don't need it and I was not sure if I would win the bid.
