My cat and I had a fabulous first experience here! I was unhappy with the vet clinic I tried previously and was especially unhappy with their treatment of my cat, so when I started looking for a new option, I learned that A Cat Clinic existed. I booked an appointment easily with a friendly person on the phone. The person I spoke to actually offered to call my previous vet office to get the medical paperwork, which was so kind. When my cat and I arrived, we were greeted immediately and the only patients in the waiting room -- it wasn't packed like some can get. We only waited a few minutes before getting called back by the lovely vet tech. The exam room was spacious! It wasn't a cramped little space with a table in the middle the way that many places are. My cat had room to roam around and a few nooks to go into safely. (And they encouraged her to get out of her carrier and explore rather than expecting me to keep her contained.) The vet tech went over the existing paperwork that I had filled out and records they had gotten (woo, an office that actually reads the medical records they request!) and a few minutes later, the vet came in. Both the vet and the tech were so kind and caring to both me and my cat. They told me what she needed and also gave me options for testing that they'd recommend if I was in the position to get it done (like some lab testing), but they didn't pressure me or make me feel like a bad owner. The vet was also super clear in explaining the "why" behind everything she suggested for my cat. When it came time to give vaccines, the vet and tech actually sat down in the floor with my cat rather than trying to force her into a table. This was so nice and definitely less stressful for everyone! We were in and out in less than an hour. My cat was more stressed by the car rides than she was the vet visit itself -- she was even rubbing on the providers in the room after a few minutes. The pricing felt incredibly fair and transparent. It's the least I've paid at a vet office in probably seven years, and it's also the best care I've seen in that time. Instead of helping, they gave me a brochure, when sent me to specialists in Orange Park.. .....where those specialists also attempted to delay me MORE THAN a month....then further attempted to send me on a wild goose chase to Gainesville. Don't waste your time here. They don't care about you, nor your cats, nor your time, nor your expenses. They could close this business and stop wasting time pretending to be healers. Oh my goodness, I can go on for days about how much I recommend A Cat Clinic. My cat, Pandora, has been experiencing allergic reactions for almost a year. I initially had her at a different vet, where she turned feral any time the vet took her into the back, and it got to the point where I felt cruel for taking her to the vet. I gave A Cat Clinic a try and they are SO compassionate and patient with Pandora. They have never taken her out of the room and done everything in front of me because her comfort comes first. We have been here several times in the past few months and usually saw Dr. Whelan. She is very sweet and always gives me treatment options to choose from, explaining each option thoroughly. Today Pandora saw Dr. Rogers, who actually sat down on the floor and put Pandora on her lap for the examination. I could not believe how much she cares about making sure her patients are comfortable! We are hoping Pandora is finally healed and won't have to go back for a while, but I know she is in good hands when she comes here. If you have a cat with bad anxiety, I highly recommend trying A Cat Clinic. Their exam rooms look like a living room and it's clear the staff truly loves animals. read more

Normal vets do not specialize in cats. They are ok for routine visits but if the cat is sick they can not help you. We took are cat to 5 different vets that friends took their dogs, none could help her. A cat clinic found out she was a diabetic. I have been going to Dr Rogers, Dr Porter and A Cat Clinic for over 30 years. And, I would not take my cats anywhere else. During this time I've had 5 cats. 3 have lived long healthy lives because of A Cat Clinic. I lost one after 17 wonderful years, one after 18 and currently have a 19 year old and 2 15 month olds. I am what you would probably call an over protective cat mom and the staff here has always made me feel that they hear and understand my concerns. I have been a client of A Cat Clinic Jacksonville Beach for over 5 years & "Buyer Beware" is all I can say. Giving then ONE star is being way too generous. For their pricing, the service & follow up is abysmal. I had 2 cats there Mon, Oct 2 for routine check ups & a few other issues (no surgery or extractions) for a total cost of $659. This is after I declined a $400+ heart test. I was handed the medication one cat needed before leaving & when I went to use it at home the dispenser was too short to reach the needed Rx. I called & was told I could come back to the clinic & get larger dispensers. Ummm, NO! Do it right the first time! I was quoted $52 for a medication & I called the next day to order it & now the price was $65! Seriously, who does that? I informed the receptionist the name of the employee who quoted me the $52 & the date of time of the quote. (The day prior!) I was asked to hold & the receptionist eventually returned to the line & told me I was quoted the wrong price. (Whose fault was that?) Not only was the quoted price not honored the receptionist told me it was outbid her hands & the manager would have to call me back. (How much time can I spend on the phone debating this?!?!) I stated that I only wanted a call back if the quoted price would be honored. Needless to say, no call back. I also received a cryptic vmail a few days after my visit asking if I wanted pills or liquid for my cat's Rx. (????) DETAILS, please! I brought two cats in so WHAT cat & WHAT Rx are you talking about??? Again, the onus is on me to call A Cat Clinic to find out what they're talking about! When I called A Clinic again to decipher the vmail i was told an email was sent to me regarding this. I did find an email titled "Genie's test results." NO 'call to action' or mention of "your cat needs medication"! After spending $600+ the clinic can't call me leaving a clear message "BTW, your cat has a UTI & needs medication". I don't think that's too much to ask & even the receptionist agreed that I should have been called!!! A terrible & tiring experience. read more

After I moved here from Memphis my cat developed an upper respiratory infection. She is 18 but is just never sick. I wanted to board her while going to a convention and needed care as well. Dr. Rogers and staff took great care of my baby and is bringing her back to health. I will be bringing her here when she needs additional care. Only cats are treated and they love them! Update 6 Weeks Later: Elle's right eye was dilated so I took her back for an emergency exam on Saturday. Sadly, she has developed an inoperable tumor. I was highly disappointed in A Cat Clinic. At first I thought they were great, then when they would not refill my 15 year old cat that had cancer prescription, he passed away three days later. They kept wanting me to bring him in to run labs that cost over $200 just to tell me he still had cancer. The meds kept him comfortable and he was doing fine until they would not refill his prescription. It so happen that following Monday I got a call reminding me I needed to bring him in. I let them know that he had passed, as we were getting ready to hang up, the person on the other end of the phone laughed. I was so upset, I thought what part of losing your pet, your family member is funny!!! :( I promise I will NEVER take any of my other cats there, plus if anyone ask for a suggestion to take their cat I will tell them to stay away from A Cat Clinic. read more

I recently had to board my cat here. He was diagnosed with an illness that required multiple medications and I needEd to travel to be with my daughter during cancer treatment. my cat is almost 15 years old with high levels of anxiety. He has been a patient at the Jax Beach location and although some missteps, nothing as bad as his stay here. The staff Lacked every ounce of empathy and compassion. When I went to pick him up after 10 days there was no care report or medication instructions. His fur was matted and dirty and he had feces dried on his fur. I would never in my life take an animal to this clinic. They really don't care about you or your animal. read more

I can not recommend the cat clinic. I called the clinic to arrange an appointment and the staff members set up a hour appointment for each of my kitties. She said they would do a brush out and nail trim on each cat. When my daughter arrived at the appointment time with the kitties and stated why she was there, she was told that they did not offer that service. By the time my daughter called me to help sort it out, the woman at the front desk sounded very angry on the phone. IT WAS A VERY UNPLEASANT EXCHANGE. Obviously the customer is never right even if they have an email copy of the appointment. read more

Sixteen years ago my wife and I had the privilege to meet Dr. Alison Rogers and her staff at A Cat Clinic. At that time Shadow was just over 2 years old and was a happy healthy cat. The staff at A Cat Clinic took care of our little girl for many years. When Shadow was 9 she developed a liver problem and then diabetes. Dr. Rogers took the best care of her for several years. When she was 13 she passed away. Dr. Rogers and her staff was right there to take care of Shadow are help us through a very sad time. Several months later we adopted a little boy and we named him Biscuit as he is always making air biscuits while laying on his back. If you are looking for a clinic to take care of your kitty we recommend with our heart A Cat Clinic in Jacksonville. Love these guys! I have been in here multiple times to get my kitty yearly shots and health physicals to fly on an airplane. They are sooo nice and always on time. They also give out peacock feathers to new customers! Which my cat loves! There is also cat boarding here which I haven't tried. This is a cats only place and is very calm and cute! I LOVED this office! I just moved to Jax and was in search of a cat only vet office and I am so happy I found them. I loved the cute cat decor and water and coffee in the waiting room. The large exam rooms didn't have those awful stainless steel tables in the center and that sterile feeling. Every staff member was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Dr. Parker offered so much useful info about my cat and she and the vet tech knew exactly how to handle him, as he wasn't very happy (what cat is at the vet?). She even suggested some sights in Jax that I should check out, since I'm new here. Since this was my cat's first visit they asked a lot of questions about him for his file, which I really appreciated. I have never received such personalized attention from a vet. They trimmed his nails at no charge and managed to get them all, even though he acts like he is possessed by the devil when you try to trim his nails. They provided a list of recommended foods that contained brands in all price ranges, not just the expensive food. They gave him a peacock feather to play with and take home. This is hands down the best cat veterinarian hospital in the area. I have been to many vets since I moved to this town 13 years ago, and I will never go anyplace else ever again. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Rogers and all of her staff. I always feel like my cats are a priority and I never feel rushed. They take the time to explain everything in detail and I never leave with unanswered questions. The office itself is comfortable, and quiet, which is so important when you have ailing kitties. The stress of dogs barking and howling in other vet environments is not healthy for cats. The prices are affordable and they have saved me money by treating the animal right the first time. I've been visiting vets up and down the east coast of Florida with various cats over the past 15 years, and by FAR, The Cat Clinic is the best vet clinic I've ever been to. I love that it's for cats only. There's nothing that makes a vet visit even worse for a cat than sitting in the reception area listening to howling dogs. The reception area at the Cat Clinic is a nice, calm area (and the front desk people are AWESOME. They're extremely kind, patient, and caring. My cat and I have been frequent visitors during the past month due to a serious hairball problem, and they've gotten to the point where they all greet me and my cat by name when we enter.) The vets there are SPECTACULAR, especially Dr. Clarke. She takes a genuine interest in the welfare of her feline patients, going so far as to call me on her days off several times, and during a holiday weekend, to check up on my cat in the days following her intestinal surgery. The .... nurses? techs? I'm not sure what they're called, but they're all wonderful as well. Very professional and they all answered my questions completely, and one was very patient when she trained me how to administer fluids subcutaneously during the aforementioned long holiday weekend following the surgery. I've used their boarding services twice in the past, and have been completely satisfied. It makes me feel much better when I'm gone that a vet is nearby should anything go wrong and that the staff knows what to look for. While the cat's not too thrilled about being away from home, I know that she's in great hands and I feel much better about her being there instead of alone at home. Everyone here is absolutely wonderful, and they all go above and beyond for the sake of keeping your cat healthy and safe. read more

My cat was a patient there. He became very ill and was throwing up large amounts of blood. I immediately called in that morning but was told that they were busy and that there were no appointments for that day. After some questioning, the receptionist couldn't even give us the name of an emergency vet! We had to look it up ourselves! We immediately took him to the emergency vet who gave him some fluids, took some tests and gave some medication. The cat was still not eating the following day so we called the Cat Clinic again. We were told again that they were very busy and had no appointments, but that we could drop the cat off and they would examine him if they had time. We immediately called the vet who takes care of our dog. She said to bring the cat over immediately! Needless to say, we no longer take our cat to the Cat Clinic. read more

I cannot explain to you how much I LOVE this vet. I am an experienced pet owner and I foster cats. My cat is normally cranky and hates the car/vets. The whole staff is professional and calm and calmed my kitty down right away every time we've been there. She us had life threatening illness twice and both times the vet was competent and did not charge for unnecessary treatments.the vet called multiple times after hours to check on her, let us stay at the office all day when my cat needed fluids and the staff even sent me home with a crate and new toy for daisy. I specifically schedule my appointments with Dr. Erica McDivitt and her technician Dorothy. My 16 year old feisty kitty used to have to be sedated with all previous vets just to be examined, but as soon as Dr. McDivitt and Dorothy started to work with her last year, sedation is a thing of the past. They let her relax and greet her sweetly before attempting any exams or testing. My kitty isn't happy about it, but she cooperates and is not stressed out hissing, spitting, and urinating.
