I was one of Dr. Patel's first customers with my little Chihuahua BuBu I am reading some of these comments and you're complaining that you are trying to get healthcare for your animal and you don't have any money. I'm in the same boat. You all need to apply for a care credit card and have it on hand, you cannot go into a vet and pay half there and half later it's just the fact it's not Dr. Patel being ignorant. He is a very compassionate man towards my dog so when he tells you he can't have a payment plan it's your fault, especially if you are reading this and don't apply for a care credit card. I had to take my dog to the emergency room the other night down the street. They cleaned me out because he had seizures tomorrow morning. I will be walking into see Dr. Patel to tell him everything he gives it to me straight, tells me the price tells me what I can get by to pacify my dog and always has been. I moved away to the beaches area. I still commute to him his medicine that he distributes out of there is at a very fair price try going somewhere else and getting it. It will cost you sometimes twice as much. I can't say anything better than Dr. Patel other than I wish he was a 24 seven emergency care when he is out of town. He has other veterinarians that are very compassionate that sit in for him. my dog has heart problems and now has to be put on a seizure medication as the emergency room at blue pearl down the street says which is another excellent place so do not complain about a man who is running a tight knit business and doing it well he is reasonably priced in is thorough my Chihuahua BuBu is well taken care of by him. His medication's cost about 65% of which other vets have charged. He has stated the art equipment. He is a veterinarian that doesn't have a bunch of decorations on the walls. He just takes care of animals and has taken care of my dog for years since he is opened do not complain about price or that he can't put you on a payment plan get a care credit card use it here and there because it will cut you off if you don't use it and if you have an extensive problem with your animal, they will cover it. Yes, it is about 20% on the dollar but what are you going to do when your fur baby is in peril and you go in there and the bill is $2000 and you only have 500 bucks in your pocket so give this man a break he is awesome. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this veterinary clinic. Yesterday, I called for a same-day appointment because I was concerned that my dog was declining. He had been seen at this clinic just 10 days earlier and was started on medication, but he was not improving. I became especially concerned when I noticed his tongue appeared pale. Upon arrival, the front desk staff was kind, professional, and got us into a room quickly. Unfortunately, that was where the positive experience ended. For context, my dog had a large lung tumor and had been under veterinary care for several years. We had recently moved to the area, so this was only his second visit to this particular clinic. During his first visit 10 days earlier, he was examined without sedation and there were no issues. While my dog can be protective of me and my children, especially in unfamiliar situations, he has never bitten anyone, attacked anyone, or required sedation for routine examinations. When the veterinary technician entered the room, my dog barked. I had my infant with me, and he was clearly being protective. The technician immediately jumped back and left the room. A short time later, she returned and began discussing the cost of x-rays. I explained that I wanted the veterinarian to examine him first so we could determine whether x-rays were even necessary. At that point, I was told that the veterinarian would not examine my dog without sedation. I explained that he had been examined at this same clinic just 10 days earlier without sedation and without any issues. The technician then stated that my dog was "coming after her" and that no one would enter the room unless he was sedated. This was shocking to hear. My dog barked, but he never lunged at anyone, never left my side, and never attempted to bite anyone. Given his history, his condition, and the fact that he had been examined by this clinic only days earlier, I felt that the decision to refuse even a basic examination without sedation was unreasonable. One of the reasons I initially chose this clinic was because it appeared to be a lower-cost option focused on accessible and compassionate animal care. Because of that, I was especially disappointed by this experience. Instead of assessing my dog's condition first, the conversation immediately shifted to sedation and additional procedures. Whether intentional or not, it left me feeling as though the focus was on billing for services rather than evaluating a patient who was clearly in distress. I ultimately decided to leave and seek care elsewhere because I no longer felt comfortable with the treatment we were receiving. At the second veterinary clinic, I was told that sedating my dog in his condition could have been unsafe because he was already in significant distress. Tragically, we ultimately had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize our beloved dog that same day. I am incredibly grateful to the veterinary team that cared for us during those final moments with compassion, empathy, and dignity. What makes this experience so upsetting is that what turned out to be my dog's final day began with me feeling dismissed rather than supported. During one of the hardest moments a pet owner can face, I expected compassion, empathy, and a willingness to assess the situation before recommending sedation. Went in because my dog needed to change her bandage. Was told over the phone it was going to be around $130, I decided to go because it was a cheaper option and near where I lived. I asked for the price so many times when I first got there and was told it was going to be around $140 now. When I get there the place was so dirty, there is dog hair everywhere, like I get it but once in a while it's nice to clean. The receptionist was doing everything. She takes us to the room, and we wait around another 20 minutes, as we are there the receptionist came and tried to take my dog's temperature, she took a very long time trying to do so, keep in mind my dog was not moving at all. A doctor came in, he asked the same questions that the receptionist had already asked so there is no communication within them. The doctor is not professional at all, keep in mind still the receptionist has told me no set price since I have had asked her. The doctor took one look at her, my dog is not aggressive at all, she's a mini toy poodle, I told him she's a little aggressive since her wound hurts, she didn't even charge at him as I was holding her, and he jumped, someone who is professional and works around dogs should not have a reaction like that to a mini poodle toy. He backed away with his partner and just said he'll be back. I called the receptionist back again and told her to give me a price now, she came back and the bill was going to be around $200. I told her that in another place they were charging me $140, she told me that either way I had to pay those $45 for the visit, I explained to her that the doctor took one look at her and barely touched her and she said we still had to pay, I paid and got out of there as soon as possible. We came here last night in an emergency. When I called and she said they could see me at 5:50 at night I was so relieved. Our regular vet closes at 5 and it's hard to get emergency appointments. I live right down the street so I wish I would have known about this place sooner, I thought it was a specialist office or groomer lol. The girl at the front desk was very nice and handled a lady that was arguing about the price of her dogs medication very well. The doctor came out to intervene and calm this lady down and I felt went above and beyond to please the women, given she was freaking out and screaming about this poor dog and the price in front of me and a few other customers. As far as the building it is nothing special and it doesn't need to be. I don't care about decorations when my cat is sick or stressed to be there in the first place It's a doctor's office as long as they have what is needed and it's clean. Which I felt it was. Dr Patel seen us quickly and smiled at me when I caught eyes with him in the waiting room which made me feel welcome and seen. His assistant was friendly and made an effort to greet us when we came in. She always had a smile on her face. I watched her carry a dachshund who had some teeth removed out to mom and the way she held the dog made me feel like she really cared. She embraced the dog so lovingly. When we got back to the room we waited about ten minutes while a weight was taken and some details were given and then the doctor and the lady assistant came in. He looked at my cat's eye which was swollen with conjunctivitis and a bacterial infection, let me know what he thought and recommended. Then explained what the outcome would be. We had a good prognosis so I was relived for that. He did give first rounds of meds for us which was nice because my baby was stressed and he is big so he is strong. The price was great, there were no confusing charges for stuff like my other vet has and when I left I decided I will be switching here. My youngest already has an appointment for vaccines in 2 weeks. When my other two are feeling better they will come in as well. read more

I called Sunshine Animal Clinic on a Monday morning and was pleased to make a vet appointment for my puppy on the same day. The office is very clean, open and spacious and there is plenty of parking within the plaza it's located in. The receptionist, who also was the vet technician, and the veterinarian wore masks. Business owner and vet Dr. Patel says they opened shop in February of 2020. I especially liked how they did everything with our dog in front of my fiancé and me. This included taking my dog's temperature, administering shots and the general assessment. After having two negative experiences with a vet down the street from Sunshine Animal Clinic, I was happy to change vets and even happier to make an appt. the same day that I called the office. The services also were less expensive than the previous vet we took our puppy to. I found Sunshine because they were in the PetAssure network I have through my job which gives discounts on services for a monthly fee I pay. Sunshine is open 7 days a week. Please do not bring your pets here. I had the worst experience here with my cat. The doctor has no sense of urgency at all. They would not give care until I had paid even when I asked if they could bring my cat to the back and start because he was not doing well and was having a hard time breathing. My cat eventually passed about 45 minutes after that so not even sure if he got any care or if they were just trying to take my money. It's like he knew he was going to die and wanted to lock me into a payment plan. The doctor was not sympathetic at all and was listing statistics after he already passed away. This is our dog's new vet. We moved recently from NYC to Jax in August. The vet is great, its easy to get an appointment, and the pricing is competitive. Our dog was spayed by the vet here and there were no problems! She healed perfectly fine. What I like is that the staff always call the day after a visit to make sure that your pet is doing well. I have used This vet for a long time and really didn't have any problems with him. However today changed that. My little dog was attacked by a big dog and hurt bad. So I rushed him to the vet, and told the receptionist that he had been attacked. She told me to have a seat! 10 minutes later they take me to a room and 15 mins later the vet comes in looks at my dog and leaves. The tech comes back and I tell her I want to have him put to sleep because it is severe. 10 more mins goes By and the tech comes back with the bill close to $200 dollars To put him to sleep. I asked if I could pay half now and the rest before the end of the month and she says no. I told her I did not have that much at that moment. She told me to pay the office visit $45.00 and take him with me. Took him to the car and discovered that in the rush to get him to the vet my bank card had been left at home. Went back in and told them I would be right back with the money my bank card was home. The vet follows me to my car and tell me the leave the dog until I pay. I told him no I needed to find help for the dog. The vet said this was not a grocery store and I was supposed to pay and then slammed my car door. Needless to say I was shocked. However he was right the people at the grocery store are much nicer. I have used many vets in this city through the years and I have worked for several as well and never have I seen a vet treat a client like that. This vet just proved he is more worried about his wallet then the pet. This is not the vet to use if your pet's life is on the line. Brought in my sick 1 year old cat for an eye exam. I previously took him to the Tractor Supply animal clinic, and they recommended I take him to a registered vet if his condition got worse. He recently developed a serious infection in both eyes and needed to be seen urgently. He already had pre-existing problems and previous eye surgeries since he was a kitten when I rescued him. I was recommended by this vet because it was cost efficient and I heard good things. While the scheduling availability was pretty open (most vets I've tried to get scheduled with were weeks out) I can't say I would recommend OR come back here. The doctor did an exam on my cat and just said he'll send him home with 3 different medications. Then I was immediately told to go back up front to check out. I at least was expecting the doctor to give the medication to my cat right then and there (also to show me how to administer it?) but I got the impression that it was either too much to ask for or seemed generally unheard of to them based on their reactions. I live alone and told them I would have a hard time doing this myself. Guess I expected maybe some tips or suggestions? Instead, I was rushed to the door like my situation wasn't that serious and the response was equivalent to: "You're on your own"‍. I had a genuine concern for my cat but it's like they didn't seem to care. I also asked for them to place a cone on him for the risk he would scratch or lick his eyes but again, I was simply asking for too much. I will be looking elsewhere for a different vet and possibly get a second opinion on his condition. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the flexible scheduling. read more

Took my dog here once for a bladder infection, but the vet asks what the customer wants to do for their dog as if I'm the expert. I couldn't seem to impress upon him that I needed him to tell me what my dog NEEDS rather than the other way around. They give you a menu of things they COULD do, but he doesn't advise or tell you what's mandatory without cajoling. I tried to call back again to ask more advice, but it was the same thing, him asking me what I want and to bring in dog again, so I never returned. By the way, I took my dog there in the first place because there were several 5 star reviews, but not sure how I had such a different experience. Makes me wonder if the 5 star ratings are fakes. Now that I read updated reviews in the past year, I see some other people also had 1 star experiences at this vet. Read all reviews before you bring your animal here as eating doesn't reflect reality for several owners. There's no way this vet should receive over 3 stars on average, but there aren't many reviews, and some might be fake. read more

I took my sick kitten here as a walk in and I am so regretful. Not only was my baby was prescribed medications that didn't help and made her symptoms worse, upon bringing it to the vets attention he disregarded it and stated she just needed time to get better. I got a new kitten last week, a day after bringing her home I noticed her eye was swelling up and she was sneezing. I am new to the Jacksonville area so I did a quick Google search and found Sunshine Animal Clinic and took my fur baby in. The vet did a very quick exam and told me my kitten had a URI and conjunctivitis. He prescribed two medications. I went home and did all meds as prescribed. 3 days into treatment I started noticing her symptoms were worsening (eye was way more swollen, more frequent sneezing, trouble breathing through nose, lethargy, etc.), so I decided to call them and ask if this was normal. I was told to bring her back in. When I brought her back in a very quick exam was done and the vet said she is fine and he was not concerned, as it is a virus and it is just going to take time to get better. And I was charged a f/u visit and sent on my way. After another two days of worsening symptoms and seeing my poor fur baby suffering I decided to ask for recommendations on Facebook for another vet to get a second opinion. Someone recommended Pet Angels Animal Hospital (I am so thankful she did). My fur baby was diagnosed with feline herpes. The vet stated that due to the swelling in her eye, she may have permanent damage (only time will tell). My kitten was prescribed 3 new medications and I would like to say that after ONE dose of the new medications and about 7 hours, I have already seen some improvement in the swelling in my kittens eye. When I returned for follow up and stated that my kitten was worsening, medications should have been changed and further action should have been taken.. now my fur baby may have permanent damage. read more

Dr. Patel doesn't care about animals. Just about the almight dollar. At first I thought he was a blessing in disguise. I brought in a stray I had been feeding outside for years. Suddenly she took a turn for the worst and I thought he could help. He saw her - charged me $$$ I had no idea he was charging - but I paid to get her back. I even got the food he said to get. After he charged me a fee for the prescription too. I called him back when she wasnt eating and he said "oh she may have cancer, we can help you put her down" --- well, 28 days later she's deceased. I wish I had switched to Sunshine as soon as they opened. The office is clean and quiet. The quiet could be because no one else was there with an appointment at the time, but I assure you it made a big difference in the way my cats reacted. Both are nasty natured when at the vet (and absolute sweethearts at home). Dr. Patel handled them both with care and understanding, keeping all of the cats' anxiety levels down. I am never going back to "that other place". Had nothing but bad experiences there. Thank you, Dr. Patel and staff. We will be back (when needed, of course!) read more
