I have been taking my pets there for years. They are very good with my fur babies*****

Horrible experience they could even draw blood from a 14 pound Corgi puppy for a heartworm test. My husband brought in him and they said he needed to be sedated with two different medicines. I gave him the medicines as instructed and they still could not get his blood drawn for a heart worm test and wanted to keep him all day and fully sedate him which I said no to and told them I would elsewhere. Additionally this is after I was the VCA care club plan and now have to pay several more months and they wanted to charge $167.10 for the Heartworm Test. I took him to another vet and they were able to get his blood drawn for the heartworm test without any medication. The new vet was less expensive for the office visit and heartworm test than what VCA wanted to charge for just the heartworm test. read more

I adopted a cat from VCA Loretto many years ago. The cat cannot live without a prescription of Cisapride (which they prescribed him initially and have prescribed it until now). My cat was seen in the office in February, May and they promised me they would provide his prescription medication at both visits. I shouldn't have to pay $300 every other month for a refill. So, I have an appointment Friday, August 14th @ 8:00 AM for the same medication that should've been prescribed in February & May. They don't care if my cat dies, I have to bring him into the office and pay for an office visit for the prescription!!! Also, IF the particular doctor is not in the office when your animal needs them, the other doctors cannot call in a prescription for your animal!! read more

There are several really nice people who work there. But make no mistake, this is a corporation that cares only about their bottom line . They don't truly care about finding out what's wrong with your pet-just how much money they can make on the way there. Take your time and look for a vet that truly cares about your animal(s) and understands that your vet bill should not be more than your mortgage payment. read more

This place should be shut down! They are so unprofessional and a complete rip off! They sell u on a healthcare insurance plan and the. When the kitty gets sick it combers nothing that they want to do! I asked to speak to the manager and they send a tech in that is passive aggressive right out the gate and basically tried to make us feel dumb by reading the brochure of the bs plan! This place is so unprofessional. I went to submit a claim with my dog's insurance company and they denied my claim due to the date being incorrect on her medical records. I've been trying to get this corrected for a little over two weeks now and I keep getting passed around. One minute the Dr was supposed to be fixing it and the next the task has been assigned to the office manager. Between both of them, nothing has been done yet.. I will not be going back. read more

I brought my newly adopted cat to this clinic with the intention of receiving her complimentary vaccines. Unfortunately, we left without them due to how severely stressed she became during the visit. Her temperature spiked to 104.4°F, and she vomited and defecated on herself while being handled. The staff acknowledged that her reaction was due to stress, yet still insisted on running several diagnostic tests, which I agreed to. The total came to $270, and all tests ultimately came back normal. I was informed at checkout that her follow-up appointment was scheduled for the next Monday at 1 PM, and that I would receive a call with her test results that following Monday. After calling three times throughout the week with no response, I finally received the results on Friday--four days late. The day before her supposed Monday appointment, I received an email confirmation for that time and date. My partner brought her in, only to be told the appointment was actually scheduled for Tuesday. At no point were we informed of this change, and no explanation or apology was offered. Despite trying to be patient and give the clinic the benefit of the doubt, this experience was disorganized, stressful, and unnecessarily expensive. We have since taken her to a different veterinary clinic, where she received excellent care with none of the stress or complications. She remained calm throughout the visit and received her first round of vaccinations and a fecal test for just $65--a fraction of the cost and far superior service. I would strongly encourage others to seek veterinary care elsewhere. read more

We've been going to this clinic for over 2 years after rescuing our furball. Friendly, professional staff, convenient office hours. I appreciate that they offer early hours so I can squeeze in an appointment before logging into work. I receive appointment reminders via text and receipts via email. The summary statements via email are super handy when I need to double-check if vaccinations are up-to-date for boarding, grooming and dog park visits. Due to COVID, the office is currently doing curbside service. Upon arrival, I called the office and indicated my parking space #. An associate picked up my pup from the car, asked me for any concerns, walked me through the shots my pup was due for (with pricing broken out) and let me know that the vet would call me after examining her. I waited in my car and a few minutes later the vet called to walk through the pup's status. Soon after, my pup was brought back out and I received another phone call within a minute to complete my checkout via phone. I received my receipt via email and a current vaccination summary. A couple hours later, I also received a text with her heartworm & fecal exam results. Such an efficient process now and before COVID. I've used this location for annual wellness visits, shots and the occasional "OMG, my dog just ate something she shouldn't have, can I take her in to make sure she's ok" visits. I haven't used them yet for either of these but they do offer grooming and boarding services too. As for the personal touches -- At Christmas, there was a little decorated corner in the waiting area where your pet could take Christmas pictures (mine wouldn't sit still but it was a nice touch) and I also remember seeing my pups name on a welcome dry erase board when my furball first visited the office. Show up with my dog who can't breathe, eat, drink water pain, walk in and be told, we only have one doctor and he is in surgery, you should try another place! Only people in the place.... Are you kidding me, you are listed as an emergency place, my dog has been there before. They are horrible people and I will make it my life goal to share my opinion with anyone who even thinks this is a good place. I hope you think long and hard about the next dog you send away. Very friendly, authentic group of professionals working here. Traveling to this location was easy. Although the exterior is somewhat bland, the interior is fully equipped. The examination was performed in the room with us present. Our cat was only removed to collect lab samples. We were then updated as the tests progressed. As with most animal hospitals, cost was involved and we were provided an itemized treatment plan before proceeding. The follow-up text messages were convenient. Overall, I'm very happy with my experiences and intend to continue utilizing VCA for the wellness of my pets. My only criticism would be pricing for some of the medications. read more

My husband and I were in town for business and during our stay, our puppy Hendrix developed GI issues. After 24 hours of chicken and rice, he was getting worse; it was time to use Yelp to find a veterinarian. I found VCA and it happened to be 10 minutes from where we were staying. The receptionist was able to get us in same day and within 2 hours. She was very thorough and polite. I was able to email his vaccination records to the office so when we got there, he could be seen ASAP. Outside of the facility are multiple areas designated for pets to relieve themselves before going in. Once inside, I was immediately greeted by two front desk staffers who were extremely helpful. The both had a very clean and professional appearance. The back office What I really liked and appreciated was Dr Francesena's approach to treatment. She did a nose to tail evaluation and prescribed pro and pre biotics to help his GI tract naturally. She also prescribed a sensitive tummy diet and provided me with enough to get through the week. She didn't immediately prescribe antibiotics which is cautioned against but some vets still do it. Her assistant was so caring in the way he handled Hendrix so Dr Fran. could examine him. The office was clean, smelled fresh and all the staff were exceptionally professional. You can tell when people are doing their job or doing something they enjoy. The staff enjoys their job and Hendrix could sense it as well. This is the ONLY vet I will bring my CKCS to while in Jacksonville. Thank you to all of my fellow yelpers who recommended VCA! I have nothing but good things to say about this vets office and the people who work here. We adopted our cat, Julian, on May 6th 2017. Between May and December, our little "Trouble Kitty" (as he affectionately began to be called) had us at the vets office no less than 10 times. He had to have an eye removed, had to have a second surgery on that same no-eye, and what felt like a million follow up visits. (In the attached picture, you can see how he looked the day before his surgery, a week after his surgery, and then a recent picture, 10 months after his surgery). Every time we've been to this office, we've been treated with nothing but kindness, respect, and professionalism. During his entire healing process, they were so patient with us and it honestly felt like they treated our boy like he was a part of their family. He usually sees the same doctor but I'm pretty sure at this point he has seen all of them at least once! All of the vets there are great, but we absolutely adore his usual one, Dr Dawson. She is absolutely fantastic. Bottom line, this vets office is hands down the best I have ever taken a pet to, and I highly recommend them. read more

I don't normally leave reviews but I created a login today just to leave one for this place. This place is just after your money. They could care less about your pet. If you don't purchase several services they offer you, they will not help your pet. Our dog has allergies. All we need is an allergy shot for her that we get every few months. Every time we bring her here, they add on so many other charges that we HAVE to purchase before they will give her the shot. Not to mention all the stuff we turn down and they make you feel guilty about. $75 for the visit. $75 for them to put her ear gunk under a microscope. $35 for them to clean her ear. $76 for her shot. $45 for her ear drops. $45 for her ear cleanser. $35 for antibiotics. We had to pay for all of this if we wanted a shot for our pet. Even though this isn't our first time bringing our pet here, it's several big charges every time! And like I said, these are just the things they make you pay for. Not to mention you can't get a quick appointment. If they are this successful, why do they nickel and dime you for everything! Hopefully this review helps others from making the same mistake. read more

We may have turned into crazy dog people and rescued a couple more dogs. We knew we wanted to continue to use VCA for our new pups. This time, we saw Dr. Eslick. She and her tech were absolutely phenomenal! Both these rescue pups are sweet, but very shy of new people and situations. They got down on the floor with my pups to check them nose to tail and ensured they were in good health! I still can't believe they were on the floor, giving them tons of love and pets, all while checking them out. AND despite the fact I have two other dogs, she gave us amazing advice on newly homed dogs. And while some clients may have thought "I know this", she also informed of us of a potential plant killer that is all over Florida, Sago palms, which are EXTREMELY TOXIC to pets and humans. Not only are these palms deadly to your pets (liver and organ failure), the palm seeds are extremely enticing for your dog to eat. All that to say, she likely SAVED all four of my furbabies lives as I didn't know this. We recently moved to Florida and the previous owner had planted these in the yard and our neighbor had just given us seeds! Thank you for giving me the information, even though I already had dogs. Dr. Maillet was fantastic with our new puppy. We've been coming here for more than 4 years with our older dog and have gotten great care from the various doctors and techs. Reasonably priced, I don't feel nickel and dimes to death and everyone really cares about the animals. What impressed me the most during my most recent visit is that we signed up for the puppy care plan to pay a flat enrollment fee and then a smaller monthly fee for our puppy's care for the first year. They called after I'd left to let me know they forgot about a special they were running and the $50 registration fee should have been free. They refunded money that they could have easily kept because I wouldn't have known any different. I was very impressed. Thanks Augustine Loretto! read more

This place is way more expensive than clinics like "No More Homeless Pets", but they are our neighborhood clinic and they really make our visits feel like a resort visit with the little dog treat jar and free hot beverage bar and warm and friendly staff who behave as if they love my cats. They often welcome their animal patients with a white board with their names on them. Kinda like pet kindergarten. In their practice they teach us that living gracefully with all creatures--not just the human ones, is what makes us all live a gentle and meaningful life filled with authentic love. read more

We have 3 cats and a dog. VCA has provided outstanding care for all of them for over the last 5 years. From dental to mass removals and more!!! I was thrilled that they actually have the equipment and the expertise to operate and do the work that they need to versus many other clinics. I've always gotten my dogs teeth cleaned, but until I brought her to VCA no one ever told me she had dental issues they just cleaned her teeth. They have appropriate x-ray equipment and expertise to diagnose properly.. She had to have three extractions (had broken teeth one abscesses I saw the x-rays. It just breaks my heart to think that others don't have the equipment and can't do the complete job right and we just blindly trust. She had eye staining I knew something wasn't right it was an infection in her mouth. Please understand I take great care of my pets to I was shocked. VCA Animal Hospital has kept my dog happy and healthy and she's 15 with another five years ahead of her because of her health. They take their time and listen. I also saw a comment on here at somebody bringing in a cat That they found that needed help. Everyone here at VCA is beyond compassionate most of them have multiple pets and try to do what they can to help us all. They have given us advice on stray cats because we help them too. We love it here Dr Cunningham is a rock star and so are the rest we have seen them all. Thank you VCA team for going above and beyond! read more

Oh where to begin. This Animal Hospital is everything I was looking for. The people working here are super professional and very welcoming. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a smile. It was time for my Pups 11 week shots and he honestly did pretty good. Everyone did everything they could to make sure he was comfortable and to my surprise he wasn't even scared. His doctor handled him with lots of care and she didn't even mind all of the love bug kisses. For his first time there he got a wonderful goodie bag. Although he was supposed to have a leash the nurse was supposed to bring it back but I forgot to ask for it. Also they have a wonderful wellness plan that is very inexpensive and I recommend it for all pet owners. We go back in three weeks for his next set of shots and I'm sure he'll do great then too. He is also due to be microchipped and I honestly am glad I found a place that will care for my pet as much as I do. read more

Best veterinary ever. The front desk lady's are phenomenal. Both Pam's have always been super nice to me despite me being a "helicopter parent" Hovering over my pup lol they are always so welcoming and kind. Dr Francecita (forgive my spelling) is the most thoughtful veterinarian I've ever worked with. And Brandi is the best groomer I've ever met. She takes her time and really pays so much attention to detail. She has a lot of care in her eyes and you can just tell she loves what she does. Best vet I've ever been too. First visit was free, and they were simply amazing with my german shepherd. I have a very anxious, and defensive german shepherd, so going to the vet was something my partner and I dreaded. We got there, and we ourselves were probably more nervous than our dog. They gladly cleared out the lobby for us to walk straight into a private room to see our vet, which was Dr. D. She specializes in dogs with anxiety/aggression, so she went ahead and took our big puppy to the back, and they themselves knew he was gonna do great. The staff was very very nice, although our dog was being loud, and annoying. After the visit, I got a follow up call, just to make sure my pup was doing well. I highly recommend this place to anyone with dogs with the same problems. read more

The staff is always friendly. Appointments are convenient as they have Saturday hours. We had a little emergency today as my dog ate a Christmas ornament but we got squeezed in quite quickly and we didn't seem to be a put out for anyone. We have seen several different doctors but each one has been super friendly, patient, and gentle with both my animals. While I prefer a small vet office with my animals seeing 1 doctor, which I couldn't find when we first moved so we will stay! read more

Fair warning, my pets are my children. I am very particular about who takes care of them. The clinic itself is very pricey but I feel like I get what I pay for. The front office staff is very organized and the spaces are always impeccably clean. I never have a problem making an appointment on short notice. I appreciate the evening and Saturday hours offered. There's an exam room with a private entrance for when you or your pet aren't prepared to face the public. When I had to send my cat over the rainbow bridge, the whole staff was very caring and understanding. Tissues are plentiful (pretty sure I used an entire box) and a donation was made to a local charity in her name. Thoughtful touches. I've been to several area vets and Dr Dee is the best I've met, by far. She's really what makes the higher prices worth it. She takes her time, explains the options and personally calls to check up on her sick patients. She's very knowledgeable on the latest treatment options and has clearly spent a lot of time keeping up on the newest advances. read more

From the moment I walked in there, I felt very comfortable having my dogs there. They have several doctors there, and I have met 3 of them; Dr. E, Dr. P, and Dr. M. They are all wonderful! You can tell they really care for your pets. They have squeezed us in for an emergency, observed our little guy for the day while we were at work, and have discussed options for treatments. They waived exam fees for new patients so I drove from riverside to catch my dogs shots up. My Boston also had a lump that turned out to be cancer. They operated and to my surprise the estimate was cheaper than I would have thought then the actual turned out to be less. The staff was so helpful and friendly. I usually go to a vet office I can basically walk to from my home but went here instead because they could get me in sooner for a time sensitive travel matter. My usual vet told me they would fill out my paperwork but I had to do all the research and leg work myself and just tell them what I needed them to do (I assumed this was normal and was willing to do so). That is until I met the VCA office manager, Julie. She went above and beyond and even researched information about my travel destination before I arrived to give me all the advice I would need. This clinic is totally a rip-off... I took my dog for a teeth cleaning and from the original $250.00 I end up paying $530.00... Besides they were not carefull with a little surgery to remove a skintag... The stitches were way more than required...2 inches for a skin tag??? also it looks like someone without experience did the stitching...the skin is showing lumps and it was not a clean cut. My dog had two other surgeries and all the stitching was impecable...and lot less expensive. Pathetic for all the money they got from me. Look for another clinic if you want your pet to be treaten right. I will never recommend these butchers to anyone...!!!! The take advantage of pet owners because they know we love them like kids....for that reason they deserve ZERO STARS!!!! read more

While dropping my dog, a medium hairy dog for grooming, I was informed, since he didn't have a fecal exam, that maybe one would be necessary in order to have him groomed. This was the first place that asked me for something else a part from the vaccines. The grooming was R$60.00ish and 3 days later I get a call to pay the $40.00ish for the fecal exam and the result came on the 4th day. if all you are looking for is a grooming, I would not recommend them, the only advantage - it was easy to make an appointment while at the place I normally go (they are very caring there), there wouldn't be a time available in such a short notice. read more

I love any vet that hat shows the same love for your pet that you do and Augustine Loretto Clinic does just that. They allow for the pre hours drop off and post hours pick up for the working folk that don't have time to wait for appointments during work days. My cat had a kidney stone and they gave her tests and operated to have it removed since it was too large to pass. They took such good care of her and they inform you of all that's going on so you are in the loop. If I hadn't moved away I would still be going there and recommend giving them a shot. They have multiple veterinarians so it's pretty easy to get in. read more
