I love that they are just right up the street from me and on the bus line, so it is easy for me to get to and get back from. I took multiple shirts here that all had wash/dry clean instructions on the tags, but told the associates that I wanted them dry cleaned. On 3 different occasions the associates washed the shirts rather than dry cleaning them, thereby shrinking the shirts and making them unwearable for me. read more

In the mail, I received a sheet of "Hello New Neighbor" coupons (6 coupons each for $10 off) so I was more than happy to give Cleaner World a try. I was thrilled to see they offer drive-up service, which I have not seen anywhere since the 1970s as a kid. I was doubly thrilled to find out they have next day service. I presented my $10 off coupon along with my clothes and was told she could not accept it because it was Wild Wednesday and you cannot use these coupons with other specials. Whaaaaaaaaaat? So the next day when I picked up my dry cleaning, I presented the same coupon. This time, the (different) clerk gladly took it, recalculated my bill, and said how grateful they would be if I could present the coupon when I bring in my clothes. I said thank you for accepting it and I would remember in the future. The cleaning job they did on my clothes was perfectly fine. So I plan on using the remaining 5 of my $10 off coupons, avoiding Wild Wednesdays. read more

Only place that was able to accommodate my out of Towner schedule - needed to drop it off Friday before noon and pick it up Saturday before 2. They said they could have it done Friday by 5! They were quick, and they did a good job. Other places I called were far less than accommodating and even suggested it would be impossible to find someone who could accommodate my travel emergency. I wanted to post an update after receiving a personal note from the prez of A Cleaner World. The message was quite professional and the company took the time to look up my order, evaluate what I'd said and contact me to offer a gift card covering the amount I'd spent. Their motto, accordingly is "We do it right the first time or it's free." Considering I didn't voice my concerns at the business itself -- and certainly didn't expect to receive such a great response to a review I'd left on an unclaimed biz profile -- I'm applauding A Cleaner World for their professional approach. I went to their web site and found a discount coupon. Showing up at the local store to use the discount, I was told, "Oh we don't honor those coupons. It varies from location to location." No such statement on the web site. So why offer them. I haven't been back. So they got $5 more from me once, and no more business ever again. Pretty stupid business sense if you ask me. read more

I have been using A Cleaner World on Fayetteville Street in Durham for several years. In my opinion, they offer the best service and always with a smile. They offer next day service, but most of the time, I will get a text that my clothes are ready for pick up on the same day. I've used other services in the past and no one compares to A Cleaner World at this location. read more

The customer service is horrible. To be fair, I've had the same staff member both times I've used their service. As a first time customer, I wasn't greeted with a Hello or Thank You for trying our service, or even a smile. I asked a couple of questions to get clarity on a 'New Customer' coupon I used and was received with annoyance and short responses. Update: A Cleaner World has upped their game! Earlier I mentioned the paper trail that seemed a little unnecessary....not any more! You pull up, they get your name, take your items and give you a printed receipt. When your items are done (in my case, 2 jackets dropped off at 10am were done at 2pm - super fast!), I received an email indicating they were ready. I'm a fairly regular customer, so I was hoping they already had my information (which they should) synced up and they did! Awesome job! read more

After writing this review, I received a call from the manager regarding my experience. Quite frankly, I was surprised to receive a personal call- but he discussed my situation and apologized for the experience that I had. As I mentioned in my first review, I have been going to this dry-cleaner for years and had wonderful experiences prior to this. After apologizing for the mixup (he told me that the clerk should not have charged me for the damaged blouse), he offered to refund my money for the blouse as well as provide my next order free of charge. I am so happy that he called, because I truly did not want to leave their business. This call reflected the type of service that I had grown accustomed to over the past several years. I wholeheartedly would recommend them to anybody in the future. They do an excellent job, and now I am happy to say have fantastic, personal customer service. read more

I have gone here frequently and had many good experiences. The staff is very friendly and the drive-through is convenient. I've had a few issues - some stains & once several of my shirts were ripped up the sleeves - but I was promptly reimbursed a fair price for replacement shirts. After an earlier, negative review, the manager called me several times to ask about my experience, explain that the ripped shirts were a one-time thing, and express that he wanted to retain my business. read more

Went to drop off 5 items and a white coat. The man behind the counter said 'sorry we don't dry clean white coats because they are considered a medical biohazard (whaaa?) and EPA and OSHA will get us'. Complete bunk, even went to the OSHA website to doublecheck. Took my white coat to a NORMAL cleaner (who did a great and perfectly legal job) and unfortunately decided to leave the other 5 pieces with Cleaner World. 2 stars for the fact that they did an adequate job, otherwise considering the $30 charge hey would get a 1 or zero (were it possible). I previously used A Cleaner World due to their convenience of having a drive through and their proximity to where we live. They have always been overpriced. However, I took a pair of pants there to have the length hemmed by 1 inch. When I went to pick them up, the charge was $26 dollars, which is beyond ridiculous. I asked the sales associate why it was so expensive and she could not tell me and guessed that it was also dry cleaned. I tried the pants on when I got home and they clearly had not been shortened either. I am no longer going to this establishment. read more

Updated review: Unfortunately we did not have a great experience with A Cleaner World. They did a fine job with 2 sweaters, but several shirts and a dress came back seemingly in the same condition we sent them- as if they hadn't even be cleaned. That said, the staff at A Cleaner World was very receptive to my complaints, and they offered great customer service in resolving the problems. We were offered a refund or re-processing of the clothes, and the manager was very nice in handling the situation. While I'm still disappointed that our clothes weren't properly cleaned, we did receive a full refund in the end. read more

I dropped off a cotton, button down shirt to be dry cleaned. When I went to pick it up, they said the price was $8. I said that must be a mistake, how can you charge $8 to dry clean a button down shirt? The sales associate confirmed that was the right price and that she had checked this price with her manager Bob Burns earlier in the day. I told her I refuse to pay $8 for dry cleaning 1 shirt, which had no stains and was made of no special fabric, and she said "ok I can use a different rate" and she ended up charging me $4.50, which is still absolutely ridiculous. Mr Burns, your price gouging is despicable. I will never ever visit your establishment again. I am a big dry cleaner snob. I have tried numerous cleaners in Durham and like this one the best. The staff is very friendly. I like that they always look very professional. I have had many silk dresses cleaned here and they look perfect. My husband's dress shirts always come out perfectly. I love how they individually bag sweaters. I feel this cleaner goes the extra mile when bagging items. I would highly recommend this cleaner. Also there is a drive thru which makes things very convenient. Be forewarned. They will not take responsibility for your fine expensive garments. I picked up and paid... arrived home to realize that a Carolina Herrera white blouse was missing from my order. My husband went to handle this and retrieve the missing blouse it the following day. They state it is not there and they are not responsible since I "signed" for it. I never signed for the items, I simply paid the bill trusting that my items were all handled appropriately and placed in the back seat. So... I highly recommend you find a different cleaner. I will be now. Next, if you are foolish enough to leave nice items you are not wanting to part with here, do not use the drive through service.... go in...count your items... account for each piece... and insist they find or replace them on sight. I am now absent a $799 blouse. I now realize there was another WHBM gray blouse missing which was about $79 as well. read more
