Although I agreed to the sale of the gold piece for $300, I immediately regretted the decision and spent the night feeling sick about it. I tested the waters with some silver, the gentleman in the front was quick, fair and informative. Then, I took in 2.978 grams of 18k gold. Chip offered $100. 18k is valued at $108/g melt price. I accepted an offer for it on eBay the next day for just under $300. He flagrantly handled and mis-valued a vintage 14k white gold case Gruen watch with diamond accents and white gold filled band at $100, with comps going for $900-$1200. Jewel Tech offered $150 for the gold weight alone. The watch has been appraised at over $2,100. I expected better than a lowball offer on just the gold weight. I had been planning on bringing in a sizeable collection. I'm not one to argue. I like to see who I'm dealing with. Feigning ignorance is an easy way to test a person's honesty. Just hung up from making a cold call inquiring as possible value of foreign coins from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Whoever answered, the phone was rude, dismissive, and generally not representative of the type of individual who should participate in any kind of customer service. Probably the worst phone call. I've had with a business in Jacksonville in the 15 years. I have lived here. Would never go to this business and will notify all my friends who have an interest in coins and stamps to keep away. Five stars goes to the slim gentleman that greeted us, he worked at front I believe with the silver and coins. We were looking for watches so he gave us to the watch guy. Apparently the only watch guy.. The watch guy showed me some watches while tapping his fingers. He also mentioned that one cannot find rolex's like his in the area. We find that to be false, Underwoods has a beautiful selection.. so does Espling.. .. Miriam's has them as well. Go to these jewelry places.. We found these three super knowledgeable and friendly. Very pleased with our purchases from these jewelers as well. These 3 jewelry stores were also very busy and beyond pleasant. A coin may be a different experience for some as we did come here years ago and were pleased.. watches you may wanna pass. read more

There have been times when ive walked up and seen him in there and just left . He is so mind blowingly rude . My last visit I about bit my tongue in half to not let him know what I think of him. Went in to look at Rolex watches and brought in my year old omega speedmaster with box and papers to potentially trade. Employees were extremely rude and told me that omega are junk and they would only buy them for spare parts, and offered me 900 dollars for a watch that is worth 4K+. Living in Jacksonville for 55 years and the rumor is to never sell or buy from A-coin is very commonly heard but I try to be fair. I have had some good experiences but more horrible ones. I try my best to be a very friendly guy and try to be very respectful until I get treated like garbage and today I got treated like garbage and chip got a dose of his own medicine back from me. Its very hard to feel welcome and Bill says chip his employee. Every item I have ever brought to sell I always have to be told its junk before I can even get a price and while most of the people who work there are friendly but littlerly act terrified to show you anything and act like they are abused by the higher ups. I spoke with Bill about selling some firearms at the local coin show. I was worried and didn't want to try because chip treats everyone like garbage . Bill said don't worry we will treat you right. So I decide to give it a shop with a weapon I know very well to see if I can break the ice and see if my fear was mistaken. I couldn't even get a word out before chip started telling me my gun was junk and fake and its not I know the pistol front and back and have had it for 20 years all I wanted was a offer to buy, that's why I chose this gun to see how. I didn't ask for an education but a offer on my weapon. Needless to say chip started talking to me like he does everyone else . Like dirt and I don't do well with nonsense. I litterly was getting ready to buy something and had bought something on Friday . Bill just sat there and watched as chip and I argued Bill seemed almost enjoying it I really think he does like drama. I was getting ready to buy something whether I sold the gun or not Doug has pulled it out for me from their hiding spots. All I wanted was a price for my gun but I got a horrible experience and a approach to con me into taking nothing for my weapon but they didn't chip didn't even try to be friendly. Its not my first Rodeo with A1 its always a bull poop experience and they just don't understand or car how much real business they actually lose. . There are some nice people at A-coin but I finally had enough and after years of frustration with A-coin just decided to give a review. Chip I understand you and Bill think your stuff is the greatest and everyone else owns junk but find some customer service in the later years of life please, These wonderful reviews are from your other employees not you two. Who knows the danger this man can put you in while you stand in a store which has the ability to lock you in at the push of a button. I walked in with the intention of purchasing 60 silver dollars (3 rolls) as well as various key dates. I gave the proper greeting of the day, was polite with my requests and then began looking through the items presented to me. The man who helped me was a much smaller man with a very high pitched voice. I clarified with this person that prices were according to the greysheet. This man's attitude was off instantly. It was an odd shim of superiority. Then an elderly couple arrived to have various pieces of silver plateware priced. I picked up the Greysheet laying on the counter and this man stopped what he was doing and rushed over and snatched it out of my hands and began to put away the items I was looking at. He was beyond upset because I picked up the magazine on the counter.... to use it as a price guide so I didn't have to interrupt him helping the elderly couple. He was offended that I would use the greysheet on the counter with his permission. I said, that's fine, I am no longer interested. When I was walking out he began to scream 'Do I walk into your shop and begin using your greysheet (magazine) without asking?'. I'm here thinking holy Mac n cheese is this guy psychotic. Not only would I not have had a tantrum over it I would have been happy that I wasn't being interrupted with the elderly couple I was assisting. Instead, this man felt it necessary to raise a scene with an innocent couple in attendance....because I grabbed a magazine without his permission. It's a monthly issue. We all have stacks of them. The best part was when he said "it's the etiquette!". You have to be absolutely cookoo if you think that there is any etiquette pulling the tantrum you just pulled over a single magazine while an elderly couple stood six feet away. I collect old handguns. I have frequented pawn shops for over 40 years. I have never encountered an employee as rude, unfriendly, and unscrupulous as the person in charge of "firearms" at A1A coin. He contradicted himself often, kept changing his mind about the price, and in the end reneged on his original offer refusing to sell at his own price, all the while being abrupt and rude. Just yesterday we were in this place due to the hard live situation and had to offer our vintage jewelry almost like new in exchange for money. The male representative took our jewelry and took it to the back of the room to weigh it where it was impossible to see the true weight.
