This place was a pleasant surprise. While it looks like any old bar on the outside and the restaurant was largely empty, our dinner here was delightful. We were a little overwhelmed by the menu, which had an assortment of dishes we had never encountered before (many featuring blood sausage), but our very friendly waitress helpfully suggested her favorites. Even the cook came out to help us decide. You never get service like that anywhere else!
We ordered:
- One of each of the croquettes (tuna, spinach and cheese, beef, and pork): This was easily the best dish. You've never had croquettes like this before. The tuna croquette was the standout, and you will want to order another one as soon as you taste it.
- Garlic shrimp: I love how these came as large whole head-on shrimp that you have to peel. I didn't love that they were overcooked. Oh well, the shrimp were fresh and sweet even if they were tough.
- I forget what the dish was called but it was essentially a sweet potato hash with local sausage, mushrooms, spinach, and a perfectly runny egg on top. Our waitress showed us how to break the egg yolk and mix the entire bowl together to make a sauce that coats the rest of the ingredients. This was delicious and felt nourishing compared to all the other meat and cheese we had been eating on the island.
So two hits and a miss, but the food we did enjoy was really delicious. Also the prices are very reasonable for the quantity of food. We would definitely go back again. read more
