It was absolutely wonderful to work with Verna and Tim! They are such nice people and so easy to work with. My experience with them was that they were very timely and efficient. They painted my kitchen cabinets and refinished the countertops along with painting some built in cabinets in the living area. Everything turned out so so good! Then to top it off I went and ruined the countertops with acetone (stupid me, don't use a plastic cup to hold that stuff!). Verna and Tim were gracious enough to come back and fix the damage! This company makes a lot of promises about their skill level. but don't be fooled, they are amateurs. They completely destroyed our wood cabinet doors after waiting over a year for completion. We had to hire a different painting company to strip and redo each cabinet door. Even then, the damage was still noticeable. They refused to file a claim under their "insurance" for the damage and the city of Reno and Sparks report no record of business license under the listed name. read more

I couldn't be more pleased. This is a small local business and most of the crew worked on my job. Tim, Joey and Mark did a very professional of job refinishing my crappy builder's grade bathroom and laundry room tile. From plain white with tight white grout, to beautiful speckled gray in the bathroom and black and brown in the laundry. Verna came out in a timely manner to give us a bid, it took us a few days to decide and she came back to bid the laundry as well. I don't think you could get better service anywhere else. I had my kitchen done by this company. Counters are OK, but I still do not like the paint job on the cabinets. The only reason they are getting 2 stars from me is the refinish on our shower, it was good. I was told the whole job would take less than a week and it took over a month with me prodding them forward. It was expensive and I don't fell like I got the best job especially on the cabinets. It just looks tacky. When they left I asked them to put me on the schedule and give me a date to have the tub done and it has been 7 months and nothing. I guess they only want the big jobs. But you would think after getting a whole kitchen done and half a bathroom that they would treat me better. What they do not realize is that we have been in Real Estate and Property Management a very long time. We have a big network of people and we would refer them out for more work. I can not refer this company out to anyone. They are unorganized, take on too many jobs, and do not check the work done by their workers. I think I'd rather replace the tub than have to deal with them again. read more

-Not timely. Placed my order for a toilet refinish on 2/27/15 received my order on 4/7/15. A 14 day turnaround turned into 40 days. -Bad communication. No showed on 2 set appointments -Made us pick the color and upon install the installer asked his wife why she just didn't have him color match it? So now our products are one shade off. If we had known color match was an option we would have done that. -Didn't remove toilet hardware when refinishing and we can see white when flushing it behind the handle. -Surface is rough like sand or dust got in the paint. -Never returned the tools for disconnecting/reconnecting the tank from the bowl after several requests. -Overall, we went with this company because they are a locally owned husband/wife team and we go local as much as possible. But we were treated like our job didn't matter and wasn't important. Eventually we will have to have all 3 of our bathroom products refinished again to make them all match but we will not be returning to A Custom Refinish again. We are just truly disappointed customers. read more

Terrible terrible terrible. Had 1/2 bath counter sick done in November it's now June. Still not finished. They spilled glue epoxy on my carpet n newly refinish counter. The pipes were glued into the sick n we cannot replace the faucets. The plumber said we would have to drill them out. Was told they would replace carpet n fix the counter. I've called sent emails. Not good at customer service. Spent over $250. What a waste. Contractor said the best thing at this point is to take out the sink to n just replace. I'm so mad. Worse part is you can't get return calls or return emails. The voice mail box is always full n you can't leave message. Ugh. read more

They are responsive to calls, they show up on time and are careful to keep you apprised of the process every step of the way. Someone came out to do inspection to determine if suspected repair was needed. Set up follow-up appt as she thought repair was needed but wanted her husband to inspect as well. Nobody showed up. Called them three times with no return call. Very poor way to do business. The only reason they get 2 starts is because they returned must initial call timely. read more

I dropped a jar into my beautiful Kohler pedestal sink and created a huge triangular crack in it. I was heartbroken about it. I called around to get estimates on repairs and I was treated so well by Verna and offered a free estimate that I went with A Custom Refinish. Tim came out the same day and quoted me a fair price. The job was scheduled for the next morning at 9:00am. Tim and Jason arrived exactly at 9:00am and did a beautiful job on my sink. I highly recommend A Custom Refinish. Verna and Tim were incredibly quick to respond and provide a free consultation. We wanted to keep the character of our 1956 tile job while toning down the all-present pink and blue. They turned the job around in one week and gave us a brand new bathroom! The product is definitely temperamental in the first few weeks (which they warned us about) so I would recommend having this be the last step of your renovation rather than the first like we did. I am a Property Manager and I was a potential client with a lot of business to give this company. They came highly recommended, but they have not returned my phone calls in over a week now. They were made fully aware that I was on a time crunch to get a bathtub refinished THIS WEEK as my tenant was going to be out of town, and now the work is not going to get done because I can't get a hold of them. I have contacted other tub refinishers in the area and they are on a minimum 6 week wait. I will never give any business to A Custom Refinish. read more

I'm not sure how there could be any valid bad review for this company- I honestly feel like there had to be something they just did not understand or something because I have had my entire home redone by A Custom Refinish and I was so impressed by every job that I have referred them to 3 family members, at least 2 of my friends and my church of which all have been equally impressed and delighted with their amazing work. Personally, I understand that cabinets, especially old wood or oak, can not and will not look brand new or factory pressed, and I don't get upset when somebody takes a little longer than expected, so with that said, yes, I can still tell that the grain in my cabinet doors was oak based off of the grain in the wood, and yes my jobs did all take 3 to 4 days longer than originally anticipated, but I cant complain because there were a few unexpected bumps (which there always will be no matter what you're trying to do with your home) but the finished product was way worth the wait and the price blew me away in comparison to tearing out and buying new. I've had all cabinets done (kitchen and bathroom) plus bathtubs and sinks, then I had them do my kitchen and bathroom floors and counters, and then I had our garage floor redone (which has surprisingly been the biggest topic of all because we had them do a dark space looking theme that looks like 3 dimensional space sky with glass over the top but is an amazing epoxy job, and then last but not least we had out kitchen table and coffee tables refinished and designed with epoxy which came out completely gorgeous. All in all I had an amazing experience with this small local business and I still feel completely in love everytime I enter my home and isn't that what its all about? Feeling in love with the space you escape to and live in? It really does make a world of difference in how you set out each day in the rest of the world!! 5 plus stars for this business from me and ill have to get my family in here to leave a review for them as well because they definitely deserve it! read more

Couldn't have been happier with A Custom Refinish. Had them re-finish our kitchen countertops, as well as the master shower. The end result was excellent... Previously, both the kitchen and the shower had these ugly tiles and nasty old grout in between... now they look like new. Definitely more affordable vs. a total replacement. The only thing is the spraying process gets rather dusty, and the paint smell lingers in your house for a few days. Although they do their best to block everything off and keep it clean, you'll still get dust on nearby furniture, appliances, etc... but it's easy to clean and the end result is worth it! Their staff was also very polite and courteous. Eventually when we get the money saved, we'll be having them re-finish our guest shower! read more

Beware of this company. They picked up my nightstands to refinish on 3/31/15 and quoted me a week to complete. After two weeks on 4/15/15 I get the on the phone and they tell me they have been delayed and only have the final clear coat to do. I understand life happening so I was fine with this. They said they would be done and delivered to me that weekend. another week goes by and I still hear nothing. I send them messages asking for the status and hear nothing back. Then on 4/30/15 I call multiple times and finally get them on the phone. They say they just need to do final clear coat. I say this is what they told me 2 weeks prior. They say again they have been delayed. They schedule a time for Saturday evening at 5:30 to deliver them back to me. At 5:22 on 5/2/15 they call to say they are running behind and will call me in approximately half an hour to let me know they are heading back from the job they were cleaning up at. By 7:09 I still have not heard from them. I call and leave a message asking for the status. I leave another message at 7:48, another at 8:04, and a last one at 8:55. They turned their phone off and never returned any of my calls. I called again on 5/3/15 at 12:40pm and 8:43pm as well as 4:58 on 5/4/15 and 7:30am on 5/5/15. They are refusing to return my calls or return my furniture after having them for 5 weeks, 4 weeks past when they said they would have them returned. They did not finally return my call until 5/6/15 after I left a message stating I feel they have not left me with any choice but to believe they have stolen my property and if I did not hear from them soon I would have no choice but to take the matter further. It took 4.5 weeks from the time they picked up my night stands to finally return them to me and when they did return them they were not completed and two of the drawers and all handles still needed to be finished or repaired. So NOT do business with these people. They are a husband and wife run company and very undependable and unreliable. Do not trust them. The one good thing I can say about the company is they did not charge me for the refinished nightstands when they returned them to me which I feel was the right move on their part considering how long it took them to return them and return my calls. I had great plans for having my bathrooms and kitchen cabinets redone by them since they were a referral from my mother who was very pleased with their work in her bathroom. She is now embarrassed for giving me the referral, and I know I can't actually depend on them doing or completing any other jobs I give them. I am very disappointed in this company who I was so excited about dealing with in the beginning. read more

Obviously a good refurbishing system...I like it...but this company has NO commitment to customers. Do not use them.......Agreement on time to start and complete the job does not mean anything to them. If you have tenants moving in in 25 days, they still won't be done....do not believe them when they say they are better organized....I saw the RED FLAGS after a 2016 job they did in a similar dewelling.....Supporting a local business owner was my hope...but their NO SHOW is part of their plan now as it was on the 2016 job..take the kitchen and vanity doors, leave the vanities detail finishes undone, don't come back...tenant can wait I connected with them 30 days BEFORE the work was even required to start, they didn't email me my color choices (glad I took pictures with my phone) in fact they lost the choices I made and I had to re-select everything. After a week they still were not back with the cupboard doors...., they asked for a few more days...gave them a few more, nothing changed.They were NOT done by Oct 13th, several days after agreed timeframe.......they did crappy paint brush touchup on Oct 25th, one day before the tenant was to move in. They give a 5 year warranty but now that something is peeling, they will not return my phone calls. This is the second time there has been a problem with peeling and although they fixed it the first time (a different area this time), they have obviously decided they don't want to this time. The product does not last. It was not even a year before it started to peel and when they installed it, they ruined the wallpaper so that all had to be replaced. read more
