I had to clear a bunch of brush last week around the fence on my property as it needed to be replaced. I had the brush in multiple piles at the edge of the yard so I could haul it away the following weekend. I had intended to call Best Choice to advise the mowers to just cut around the brush piles because they would only be there a week. Unfortunately I got busy at work and forgot to call. Enter in Dennis and Son Tree Service. They called me back promptly- I explained the work that I needed done (defensive action against the trees on one roof- and offensive action toward future Mother Nature outbursts by clearing some trees away from the house at another location) Matt (would this be the son of Dennis and son?) told me he'd have an estimate to me later that same day and true to his word it arrived via fax. The price was right- the timing to have the work done- the next day, and he asked for no deposit or anything even though this was all handled over the phone. Told me just to send him a chieck when the work was complete. Love that! My trees were trimmed, offending branches removed and all the debris hauled away. Frank did show up for the estimate, but when I asked about pricing for different options (A vs. B depending on cost), his response was, "well, if you don't know what you want you're just wasting people's time." Not only dismissive, but downright rude. Then, as we were talking, a Hispanic father in an older white truck parked near my home (across from an elementary school) to wait for his child. Frank's comment? "Oh geez, you call this guy too." No, sir, I did not, and frankly, that assumption was offensive, unprofessional, and a little bit racist. His estimate was higher than others I received, and to top it off, it didn't even include re-seeding or replacing grass. Instead, he brushed it off with a suggestion to just "do wood chips." I left the interaction creeped out, disrespected, and absolutely certain I would never hire him despite a neighbor's recommendation.
