To be fair to the owner, we did arrive 30 minutes before check-in as we were on the road all day and simply wanted to walk the grounds rather than drive around for 30 minutes more. The owner was not pleased at all that we were early even though we just wanted to park the car and not check-in. She made it very clear multiple times how this was an inconvenience to her. Again, this may have been a really off day for her as others were happy during their multiple stays there. But to be fair to us, we felt a B&B should be a warm welcoming place and we did not feel this way at all.

This bed and breakfast is a peaceful setting with comfortable rooms, gracious hosts, and delicious food. The location is a few short miles of scenic pastoral landscape from Spring Green. The only traffic we experienced was a tractor on its way to a family farm. Once there, you can hear the cicadas, crickets, and birds along with the breeze blowing through the nearby trees. There are walking paths with butterflies and other wildlife to see. It is an edenic setting that will refresh your soul. Our room, called "The Secret Hideaway," was tucked away on the lower level with two entryways, one leading out to a spacious patio. The room itself had a couple full beds and a futon. The bathroom is good sized with a nice shower. There is a TV we never turned on, but I'm confident it would work if anyone required screen time (I did not). There are dehumidifiers, fans and other devices that made the room extremely comfortable despite temperatures in the 90's while we were there. Your hosts, Elise and Kevin, are welcoming and give you a quick "lay of the land" upon arrival. There is a refrigerator for you to store your refreshments, but they provide wonderful baked goods, lemonade, iced tea (we came for Labor Day weekend) and other items in the small community kitchenette. There are plenty of comfortable sofas, chairs and other amenities that have been thoughtfully laid out for guests who are just relaxing on site. You'll see Kevin around the property during the day, and busily feeding guest at breakfast as he is the main chef. Elise greets you, shows you around, and introduces you to the ensemble cast of animals such as the family dog, chickens, and hummingbirds. Almost immediately, you feel welcomed. As you can see from the pictures, the food is as visually appealing as it is appetizing. Fresh fruit, vegetables grown on site and eggs from the resident chickens combine for a great meal to start your day. Everything was delicious and you are served at your table with plenty of coffee and juice available. Outstanding! If you are going to American Players Theater for shows, checking out the local art and music scene, taking in the beauty of southwestern Wisconsin, or checking out the home and inspiration of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Silver Star Bed and Breskfast Inn is a excellent choice for your lodging needs.

The Ho-Chunk Nation is bringing back bison to the lower Wisconsin riverway. The farm is located on…read morethe river, just outside of Muscoda, and they practice organic agriculture, and are also restoring native grass and the prairie. The bison meat is being used for the tribe's elderly in an effort to reduce diabetes (the meat is lower in fat and richer in iron than beef). Eventually, they would like to be able to sell the meat. Another benefit of the bison ranch is protection of the effigy mounds that are on this riverfront property, as well as the native wildlife. Local tours are given--call ahead to arrange one. I highly recommend a tour--this is a beautiful area in Wisconsin. I am biased though as this is where I grew up!

Getting up the driveway after it snows is a joke especially when it hasn't been plowed at all and the owners had the nerve to ask me if the tires on my car were good. Yes they are good she said her husband would be back to plow before morning when Im just getting off work and lay some sand down and it never happend. Took me 3 tries to get up the hill because it hadn't been plowed.

Beds were also very comfortable as well. My only complaint - while it was nice to have A/C, it didn't work super well. I think the filter needed cleaning (this is an issue with so many hotels I've stayed at). Beyond that, everything was great. Very peaceful location as well - nice views from the front porch.

Well it's a new review for an older experience…read more Back in September of 2017 my nephew and I biked from the twin cities down to Madison staying in hotels along the way. Reedsburg was our last night so we preferred to stay somewhere nice. We were greeted warmly by our hosts Lorraine & Neil who let us park the bikes in their garage and let us know where we could get some food in town. After a nice dinner we went back to the clean and nice rooms and talked with our hosts about what we'd like for breakfast. I remember a great blueberry cobbler and some (homemade?) yogurt. Our hosts gave us some good insights on the road ahead and we rode on down through Baraboo, past Devils lake in into Madison. I'd definitely repeat the ride and particularly the stay here.

The breakfasts they serve are nothing short of spectacular and delicious without being froo-froo. Usually 4 courses, and all were excelent every meal. We always left the house nice and full! I also should mention that this place is pretty well located for quite a few tourist spots around the area, including the dells, house on the rock, taliesin, and a few others. It was a fantastic trip, everything was thorough and planned out and we had a great time. I saw a lot of individuals with different abilities have the best time. I had always heard good things, and this was the company to go to. I had recommended them to previous places of employment, for individuals to use for trips. Now, I have been having individuals I support go on these trips the past year or so. It has been a completely different experience. I had an individual attend a multiple day trip (not their first). They ended up having really bad bowel incontinence. I wasn't notified of this until pick up. They weren't given any PRN that was sent with to assist with this issue. We were then told since this was the first time this has happened, they could have one last chance. If it happened again they would need to be picked up and would need a 1:1. Okay, we agreed. Their next trip is coming up, and we get a phone call. They need a 1:1, an extra $650. I explained that this behavior has not happened since then and we were told they could have one more shot. They discussed and nope, needs a 1:1, and need to know by today if they can pay that much and are going. We also had a conversation about the possibility of having a female chaperone vs a male, due to their past. Nope, only the same gender can assist as 1:1. Well that doesn't always work for people. I asked if the money for this trip could be set aside for day trips, that they could attend. Yep, it can be, but they have to be a 1:1 for those also now. Uh...why? Never had an issue on day trips. Sadly, we pulled money out from Able Trek and took them off the trips. Also took another individual out of the trip. This is so so sad. This is a person that is completely capable of doing most things themselves. Not a total assist in cares. If you have an individual that wants to attend make sure they are able to completely do everything 100% independently. Otherwise, they may not get the support they need on these trips. Which in all honesty is disappointing, you shouldn't have to be worried about weather someone is being taken care of or not. On a trip that is advertised to assist with individuals that need it. The assistance they provide is someone to assist with money, medications and be a tour guide. That is about the extent. Which should be more for what these trips cost. The sole purpose of this company was to make trips for people to attend that couldn't normally. It doesn't seem to be their focus any longer. Which is highly disappointing...for a company I had heard so many good things about in the past. Something has changed.
